EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

The other logic for resting guys today was erring on the side of caution of potentially getting the Saturday playoff game and playing on a short week for the sixth time this season. I still think it was the right decision.

The decision to rest was 100% the right decision for injury sake. For the 17th game this season, playcalling absolutely submarined this team.

Patullo is 100% an extension of Nick. Nick is protecting him.

Patullo on 20 other teams would have been fired in November.

I don't know about 20 but generally agree.

Very good point and probably went into the decision making.

They traded away next year's first for an over drafted DE. SuperbowlZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!

He had 8.5 sacks for them this year

The reaction on that sneak was really slow for Steelers

The Falcons won 8 games. How many did the owner think they'd win?

Was it Morris’ idea to draft Penix and sit Cousins, smh.

30?

Playing the Niners at home with a healthy roster seems like a nice outcome to me.

vs playing a banged up Packers at home and a guaranteed divisional round game at home?

Just about everyone complaining about resting the starters right now lol. Pretty much everyone was pro-rest. I was one of few who absolutely wanted to play the starters. So I'm on the same page there. Giving up the 2 seed like that is crazy to me. Think of all the little things that Howie and the Eagles do to put us in position to succeed in January. But now when it comes to potentially playing a home vs away divisional round game, we're just giving it away for a little rest? Crazy.

But there are a bunch of people in here and on twitter who are freaking out now that the Bears lost. They scoffed at the idea of playing the starters a day ago.

Not me my friend. I wanted the 2 seed.

Obviously more when they traded a first to move back into the first round this past year.

For how many people complained about starters against Bills, it’s a small group who should be allowed to blame Sirianni.

With that said, you aren’t wrong, but it was still kinda weird overall to put Smith out there just to get 1k yards and play Jordan Davis and Graham well into the 4th. It seemed the plan was pretty haphazard all around they thought playing some would result in a win.

DL is the only position where it is strictly rotation. They needed at least 8-9 bodies to get through the game.

Went 8-9 last year. I’m guessing he expected the falcons to beat teams like the jets and not lose to them. That’s a game that kept them from winning the division. probably would’ve helped not losing 30-0 to Carolina. Or 34-10 to Miami.

Starters had nothing to do with the ineptitude on offense. The calls were absolute trash.

If Zac Robinson is fired by Falcons he'd be a candidate for OC

I agree...He sure looked pretty predictable last night. The DL pressure wouldn't let his trademark intermediate routes in the middle of the field time to open up. The DL were so disciplined in gap responsibility took away almost all of Purdy's scrambles. The screens were easily read as were the short passing game to the flats. The back 7 of the D was bringing the receivers and CMC and Kittle down immediately. They are really lacking a #1 receiver and it showed...Shanahan just ran of options against the D. The fun part was that this game was so consequential that the Niners showed all their best stuff which gives Fangio plenty of film to scheme against. The Eagles D are totally capable of repeating all of that... I think they have more talent at all levels that Seattle, can execute as well and can tackle in the open field as well.

At a min the D will keep a game respectable for a competent O to keep up. The problem is IDK if the O is capable of that, as much as I agree with resting this week. Siri though the record looks nice at 5-0, is around 50/50 having the team prepared coming off rest. Really hard to pin it on a specific thing since usually they either start slow or end slow. 60 mins of complete football is an anomaly under him.

KP is a moron

Siri is now 3-4 without Hurts.

This is mostly against Cancun dregs at the end of the year and 2 Minshew games with a 13-2 Hurts team in 2022.

He is a passenger.

Amen. I would have said clown.

Fair enough. Just not sure that starting over is always a great path

Traded Slay, let Rodgers walk because Ringo was the future.

Jordan Davis should’ve been sitting. He has played more snaps than any season of his career. Furthermore he had to simply cause Carter got hurt and missed time. He could’ve used the rest. Imo mistake to play him as he’s going well over his snap total in any season til now and can’t afford to lose him.

No it wasn't. Regular defense on the field and we win
