Line flipped over night. Originally was packers -1.5. Feels like a lot of the betting public put money on the Bears. I am curious to see by the end of the week if the professionals put money on the Packers or on the Bears. I think the Bears gonna win that game. Imo i think that bears comeback against them broke them. They were teetering prior when parsons got hurt. Losing in that fashion might have been the straw that broke the camels back. I think they’ll be in that bears game because that’s just what the bears have done all year.

It has value, but people way overrate it. It's mindless sports fan cult thinking nonsense. "If only the play calling was better, we'd have gone from 15 ppg to 35 ppg baby!"

People have overrated play calling for years. Of scheme, execution, talent, it ranks last behind those in terms of importance.

Very few teams in the league are able to dictate through such a high level of execution and scheme that it doesn't matter what the opposing defense is doing. We did that at times last year, but our personnel/execution was different last year. That's the rub, there's an inverse relationship between the importance of personnel/execution and scheme/play calling.

How?

Correct. The coaching is the biggest issue. And when it comes to the coaching the issues are far bigger than Kevin Patullo.

This team has had a bottom 5 offense all season with the highest paid group in football and the entire season all every fan has done is dog pile one guy, when all the other coaches get off the hook. It's ridiculous to put all of this on one person, a coordinator no less. When you're that disappointing it's never one person. Kevin Fing Patullo is not the difference between 11 and 14 wins and a bad offense to a high flying offense. This is an organizational failure and a full coaching staff failure. Not a one man failure.

If you want to put the blame on Patullo AND Sirianni, then fair play.

But a better offensive staff helps every single player.

get the political BS out of here.

Then you aren't disagreeing with me. I never said we wouldn't be better without a better OC. I said the offense doesn't suck because of just Patullo, yet he's the only guy everyone piles on and that's copium. The head coach is a buffoon and if the Eagles lose Sunday and Patullo gets fired, everyone's going to think all is right in the world again, and you're in for a rude awakening next season if the only change they make is swapping Patullo out for another OC. They'd probably be better, but if you want to see this offense realize its true potential, then it'll take more than that.

Yeah I think that’s mostly right - Sirianni’s philosophy limits them. But the change from Moore (baseline at worst) to Patullo (dogshit) could cost us a Super Bowl, and that’s what’s so damn infuriating.

I just hope Dickerson and Jurgens actually look like their feet aren't in cement blocks. The interior OL actually looked competent yesterday and the Commanders have good DTs, so it wasn't some fluke.

It's ridiculous that those guys basically torpedoed the running game this year because Sirianni wants to wax poetic about how tough they are and wear tshirts with their faces on it or whatever.

They could have plugged in Kendall and Toth and had at least an average running game where 1 out of 4 runs doesn't go backwards

Kendall looked a lot better than Jurgens. And Toth played better than Jurgens when he played. They needed to sit Jurgens and Dickerson regardless of their reputation and contract status.

I checked DK. They have it as -1.5 for bears.

I kind of think by the end of the week that that game is gonna be an even if you are betting on DK where it’s -1.5 bears. Imo think the professional bettors are going to put money on the Packers. They tend to go with the analytics whereas th public tend to go on what they watch in tv. the analytics say the Packers should win that game.

Feel terrible for Josh Sweat

My point is if the Eagles get bounced because of the offense this season and their solution is to fire Patullo, hire a new OC, and everything else remains the same ie the amount of influence Sirianni has on the offense, the other assistant coaches, the same general philosophy, etc, then we are in deep trouble.

This offense needs wholesale sweeping changes. Sirianni less influence on the offense. An OC who can come in and have full autonomy to implement his scheme based on how he evaluates Hurts. Changes to the assistants. Moorehead, Frazier can go. Probably Loeffler too, but hard to tell how much of a negative he's been this season. If all of that doesn't happen, it won't change much. It'll just be polishing a turd. The turd will look and smell nicer but it'll still be a turd.

He deserved to be fired. They got worse over time and I’d argue they had more talent than when he got there by the end of his tenure. my friend who covers the team couldn’t believe they were going to bring him back. Even he thought he was coming back based off why he heard. So cardinals did a good job not letting it leak out what their true intentions were or had a change of heart over past 24-48 hours

Under no circumstance does Sirianni get to pick his guy/offense in 2026. Howie gets to pick him.

Right now, my list is Daboll, Stefanski (if no HC job), Davis Webb and Todd Monken (if he gets let go).

Gannon would be a fascinating college coach. His Jocko Willink cosplay act would play well to 18-22 year olds, and he has the right amount of "look the other way” energy to succeed in the griminess of college football.

The not playing guys in the preseason I don’t think it’s just a Nick Sirianni thing. I think that’s an Eagles organization philosophy thing. Which if he was the coach or wasn’t the coach I think that would still be the same way they do it. They will live with the rust for 3 to 4 weeks if it means keeping their guys healthy because for the long run guys have stayed healthier, and that they would eventually get their offense into gear after that.

I wrote this last night, what have the Eagles improved upon on offense over the course of the season? It is really hard to say they’ve improved at anything. They’ve kind of been status quo from week one all the way till now. Their games on offense are pretty consistent outside of raiders, commanders and 2nd giants games. 3-4 possessions of wow and then 6-8 possessions of WTF.

The thing that is the most frustrating is that we all knew that Kevin Pattulo was good to have ups and downs as a first year offensive coordinator. But you were hoping as a season went on that he would start building on things. That you would see improvement week to week so that by the time you got to the end of the season, he’d be more seasoned and the offense would be peaking as he got better and more comfortable. Instead, it’s the same issues we’ve had all year. Which tells me he’s really not learning much on the job and just continuing to do what he has. Imo also telling me that it’s probably not fixable with him as OC and likely what you are getting after 17 games unless Jalen finds a way to just go SB mvp mode to overcome it

Besides patullo, OL hasn’t been nearly as good. Probably worst OL performance since 2020 (still not remotely that bad as that year). I’d add this coaching staff for a while now doesn’t utilize the personnel that it has to best of its ability. It uses the personnel that it has and says we are better than you. We have more talent than you. It is going to overwhelm you at some point in time and that’s how we’re gonna eventually break you. This team misuses its personnel a ton. The fact that Grant Calcaterra had been asked to run block repeatedly when the analytic show he’s awful at it and the team is the worst in running when he’s out there. Using devonta smith to be a main blocker on a screen. Or having Aj brown lineup on left side for 4 weeks in a row (lions-chargers game) running just 2 routes when he does. Or running hitch routes at the rate we do. Or being 82% run out of under enter and becoming predictable. Misusing personnel isn’t just a this year issue. Been an issue but they were able to overcome it as they had guys playing better particularly OL

Patullo doesn't deserve all of the blame for the Eagles being terrible and ineffiecient on offense. He also doesn't offer any solution. We haven't seen anything that is remotely creative outside of some red zone shovel passes to Goedert. The route trees for the WRs has 3 branches. The run formations and passing formations were so predictable to begin the year it was high school level. Teams knew what the Eagles's play call was based on that alone. They use the same motion from bunch to 2x2 that defenses didn't bother to react. These are not hard problems to fix and I do not think they are related to Hurts. He also magnifies Sirianni's worst tendencies. They are so turnover adverse they are overly conservative. He also may magnify Hurts's worst tendencies. They want to protect Hurts so much they refuse to use him in any reasonable way to help the run game. Hurts needs to be coached to run in a way that regularly allows that to be a productive part of the offense.

Sure Patullo was going to have ups and downs in play calling. He shouldn't have so many downs with play design and building a cohesive offensive system that disguises looks for defenses. That is a knowledge deficiency that this team hasn't had since Chip Kelly and Chip Kelly wasn't as bad as Patullo.

So the team that scored 13 and 3 on the Seahawks, who have a similar level defense to ours, you think they'll score more than 20 on us? Curious as to why you think that. I get that our O is not good right now, but we still average over 20 points even in our frustrating offense games. I get being pessimistic, we are Eagles fans after all, but I think the D will be ready to go. Statistically, we'll likely go up decently in the first half and then let them get to within a score in the 2nd half thumbsup

I don't know man. Niners and Shanahan just scare me lol

We went to the Super Bowl twice with different OCs. I'm all for a better OC and better system but it has worked under different people

So Lane should be back this week. Anybody else that should be returning? Maybe Dean?
