Jahan Dotson was a first round pick and gets 1 target a game. Never heard a peep from him

Does he get 1 target per game? Feels like less.

I'm not an OC but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night (not actually, but ....)

This shouldn't be complicated stuff; just stay ahead of the sticks. If there are 7 in the box, you give the ball to Barkley and get 4-5 yards to set up 2nd and easy. If there is a stacked box, you run play action and a high-percentage short pass.

You simply have to make defenses pay for stacking the LOS.

theres been a lot said about the under center runs, and the unbalanced lines with the extra OL. On Monday night we saw the return of the FB with Latu lined up there. And we also saw Barkley line up at FB and get the carry. Lots of new wrinkles.

But the running game still sucks...

yep.

Seemed to be getting going the previous 2 games. All progress was lost, running and passing, over the bye.

The thing it seems many of us disagree on with you is that we don't find it reasonable for Brown to go public with his frustrations time and time again. Keep that internal.

Regarding keeping it internal, I suspect that very few of us, possibly even none of us, have worked in an industry where the external spotlights from the media and the fans are as omnipresent as they are with the NFL (all Major League sports for that matter). So, I take AJ’s interactions with the media with a huge grain of salt (that is me in the picture below). And like so many comments here in the Blog, when I encounter an AJ story, I skip on to the next bit of Eagles news.

But that’s most ppl in this world so whatever

He's a public figure. He's not attacking any of his teammates. He was asked how his season was going and he said what is objectively true. The media is making more of it than it is. It may mean that he wants to be traded but in a League where players routinely request trades, he has not. In fact, the trade rumours about him were media inventions.

GB has a pretty good defense, and the run game has looked worse... perhaps non-linear progress here.

The Eagles offense really looked the best it had all season with balance against the Giants.

Hey wait, who didn’t play in that g… ?

😊

Seriously though, I think the Eagles offense gets back on track this week. Lions aren’t ready for this defense either 💪🏼

I hope 😳

The 1st drive looked adequate and when did Lane go down? Despite the QB draw ending in a fumble, I'm not sure why that idea had to be shelved. If they could develop another go-to play like the TE quick to the flat, that would be something.

Off Topic, but interesting…

It's pretty clear that AJ is talking about the play calling, and more specifically the conservatism. Even Jalen made a comment last year after the Steelers' game about the coaches taking the straight jacket off. Sirianni is almost singularly focused on avoiding turnovers, and we have done a great job of that. But we simply don't have last year's rushing attack, so we need to open it up more. Patullo seems to keep reverting back to calling games like it's 2024 until he has no choice (2nd half against Rams), but he is taking his cue from Nick and being super conservative (Shipley runs on 3rd and long). Add on KP's fascination with tight formations and running into stacked boxes, and the running game sucks. We are missing the different perspective that Moore brought to counteract Nick's focus on avoiding turnovers.

There's no excuse for basically giving up on 3rd and 10+, especially since it seems (anecdotally) that we actually convert those more often than most when we actually try. Jalen/Smitty/DG -- they aren't going to talk publicly. It almost feels like AJ views his job as expressing the entire offense's frustrations. All the feedback is he is loved in the locker room. My sense is Jalen, Smitty and the rest of the players agree with AJ, but it isn't their personality to talk publicly.

People think Im too harsh, but that 1st drive didnt impress me. It was another of those harder than it should be drives. I wasnt encouraged that theyd be able to move the ball all game based on that drive, and that was the right read on things as the game wore on.

No matter. He needs to do better. That’s my opinion and I’m sticking with it.

Half of the fans want players to be more forthright and don’t like coach speak answers like what Jalen does - Proud of the guys battling tonight, that’s a top defence after a miserable offensive performance…(I don’t think he is actually content with that performance)

The other half hate when a player says he is frustrated with the offensive performance and they won’t win another SB unless they improve on offense (we think that)

EJ Smith has said he knows for a fact a lot of people in that building agree with AJ and are not happy with the offense. And not just on the offensive side of the ball either.

He has vaguely let the media implications linger about things that would be Hurts' fault. But yesterday's big interview defended Hurts a bit. At various different times, you can reasonably say he is blaming Hurts, or Patullo. Both could be an issue. Or one could be an issue because of the other.

Isnt it weird how Hurts and AJ sometimes have to call that shot on a 4th down because they dont agree with being so convervative? Yes. That reflects poorly on Patullo.

Isnt it also weird that every time, its a go ball to AJ? Like, can Hurts be confident in any other pass play other than a go ball? How about something where we are likely to get a wide open WR rather than a low percentage contested catch? Why is that their go to, rogue play every single time?

That scenario, with that 1 play being the chosen one over and over again highlights the issues with both the OC, AND the QB.

Interesting. I played against Harriton yearly back in my day. Guess they could just play under the Lower Merion name and not have a problem continuing the Radnor rivalry.

As always I respect your opinion.

Smith is good, but Brown gets a lot of focus from defenses that won't happen when he's gone. We are lucky to have them both even with these distractions. It's up to the OC to get things moving because many other teams would be doing a lot more with what they have.

He has very directly defended Patullo in his locker talks this year.

He is a competitor who is frustrated but not throwing anyone under the bus. This isn’t as big of distraction or whatever the media is making it out to be.

But his and Hurts relationship is no longer BFFs. Wasn’t last year either and we won a SB

that also works if you replace OC with QB. We have seen this same frustrating lack of passing game with other OCs. There is one constant.
