2. He was not so charitable to the coaches. He said defenses adjusted, "so we need to adjust.” And he suggested the Eagles don’t have answers for when defenses use cloud coverage on him (ie a safety over the top).

The point above makes me recall something said in another sport. A manager commented that as you go up the pyramid and the competition gets harder, there is a lot more in game adjustments that need to be made. If you stay as you are, the other team will snuff you out.

Where Patullo really seems to struggle, and why perhaps some players freelance a lot than we'd think

Here is the major issue between Disney and youtubeTV. I am thankful that youtube is standing its ground. I dont want to pay extra for the ESPN streaming service that I wont use.

Disney has pushed aggressively for YouTube TV to bundle this service as part of its base package or at a subsidized rate, arguing that it represents the future of sports consumption and would enhance viewer retention on the platform.

YouTube TV, however, has resisted, citing the exorbitant costs that would inevitably be passed on to consumers. Sherman’s reporting highlights that Disney is seeking a per-subscriber fee structure that could add several dollars to monthly bills, a move YouTube TV deems unsustainable amid competitive pressures from rivals like Hulu + Live TV and Fubo. The platform has already faced subscriber backlash over recent price hikes, and absorbing ESPN Unlimited without corresponding revenue offsets risks alienating its core audience of budget-conscious users.

The broader context of these negotiations underscores the evolving dynamics in the streaming wars. Disney, under CEO Bob Iger’s leadership, has doubled down on its direct-to-consumer strategy, with ESPN Unlimited serving as a flagship product to combat cord-cutting trends. The service has garnered praise for its comprehensive coverage of niche sports, international leagues, and interactive features, but its premium pricing—rumored to start at $29.99 monthly standalone—makes bundling a complex proposition. YouTube TV executives reportedly countered with proposals for optional add-ons or tiered packages, allowing users to opt into ESPN Unlimited without inflating the core $72.99 base price, but Disney rejected these as insufficient for promoting the service’s growth.

Disney's streaming services aren't making money, so they are desperate to get as much money as possible by doing a bundlemania on YT TV. I don't see this sorting itself any time soon for anyone that that YT TV. Disney need to dump Iger, but that's for another thread.

I'm sure Disney would love to push more ESPN subscribers into Hulu, which they also own. As a consumer we are battling a lot of vertical integration, which should cut costs - but seems to be more about maximizing profits and monopolizing the market.

I see that Amazon Prime is trying to charge for shipping now...

1. He was quick to defend Jalen Hurts, saying he doesn’t think "it’s the case at all” that Hurts isn’t targeting him when he’s open. "You can’t just go off a screenshot”, he said, and noted that Hurts was under pressure at times.

2. He was not so charitable to the coaches. He said defenses adjusted, "so we need to adjust.” And he suggested the Eagles don’t have answers for when defenses use cloud coverage on him (ie a safety over the top).

3. When asked why he was willing to speak openly today (and on Twitch in the much talked about live stream), he took a shot at the media, saying "I said all the right things after the Packers game and you still wrote stories.”

Number three has particular resonance with me. The beats ask the same questions over and over. And over. They’re trying to bait him and make that into a story. In essence they have already written the story. Bunch of blood-sucking turds

I suppose there's a lot of folks who love the drama, who enjoy the access journalism, who need the personal stories - speaking for myself the media could stick to the Xs and Os and what happened on Sundays and I'd be fine.

Of course, I don't have to talk about football for 3 hours a day as profession... is this what the people want or is it just content to fill dead air?

I never hated TO as much as everyone else, because the media did the same to him. He wasnt as much of a distraction as the media was. If only he knew how to handle them.

What is it about Campbell that you like? And how is he different from Sirianni?

He doesn't get into confrontations with fans, refs, opposing players, his own players, etc. I think in general, he just comes across as more genuine and relatable when speaking publicly. The quality he shares with Nick is that they're both super passionate about the game and wear their emotions on their sleeve. But overall, Campbell seems to be a bit more composed on game days and doesn't tend to let his emotions get the best of him like Nick has.

lolwut? Are you just making stuff up now? Their streaming revenue grew 8% yoy and they added 70M subscribers between Hulu and Disney+ combined. It was one of the few positives they highlighted in their earnings call. It's the rest of the entertainment division that's underperforming: conventional TV offerings (ESPN and ABC) and theatrical releases.

Do you mean for overnight? That's always been an upcharge from 2-day, that's not a new policy. The only recent policy change was that they are more strictly enforcing the "shared household" status for prime, meaning you can't share it as easily with someone you don't live with. But if you pay for prime for your own house, it's still free 2-day shipping.

Where's that from? Either way, yeah I side with Google on that assuming it's reported accurately. No one wants to pay extra for their service bloat that no one will use. It seems Google is forward thinking in that the current subscription model is unsustainable. How many Fing things do we have to pay subscriptions for now? We need 20 different streaming services to watch every show. More to watch every movie. Every news media site has its own subscription service behind a pay wall now. More and more podcasts are going behind pay walls now. Who can afford to be subscribed to 100 different services, let alone keeping track of all them?

This is a bubble that is going to burst in a big way. It seems Google realizes this and ESPN just wants to keep bleeding consumers dry by offering services no one will use.

I agree. I have to be honest though. I love Dan Campbell and if we don't win the SB I hope it's the Lions. They are an easy team to root for based on Campbell, a bunch of their players, the city, and the lack of the success their fans have endured over the years.

Yeah, I still can't believe they didn’t go two years ago. I do like him.

I ordered something yesterday, where the options for Prime items were $12.99 next day, $6.99 2-day (used to be free) and 'Free' like 4 days from now. Obviously, I can wait.

Maybe I got bumped from wife's account based on the policy change despite having the same address?

I'll never forget Eagles @ Lions 2022. The start of the 1st Super Bowl Run. The Eagles got into a shootout and AJ went off. on his first game with the team We had 4 Rushing TD's that game from Jalen, Miles, Boston and Kenny and ran the ball well. I also remember the blowout game they won in the 2021 after the tough start against them. Eagles seems to put up big points in this Lions matchup lately. I do want to air it out because you know the Lions try to score quick. But we need to run the ball. Saquon is starting to get better. But I like our chances. Lions are playing their second road game in a row.

Coming off a MNF game/short week and the offense is sputtering. lions O has been on fire. Just feels like a probable loss.

D will keep it close first half but doesnt feel like

Birds will score enough

I think a lot of it is that they are used to just physically dominating people hat on hat, even when they know what’s coming. For whatever reason, that isn’t happening as much anymore.

Maybe. I think the Eagles are about to make a statement and the Lions might get their butts kicked.

Disney thinks the consumer wants ESPN way more than they do. People watch ESPN to watch games. No one cares about the other stuff. Their original programing sucks, no one watches it. And no one cares about their fantasy sports services. No one wants to pay extra per month for those things, they just want to watch the games.

I'll never forget JJ Arcega Whiteside blowing it and dropping the game winning catch against the Lions

I'm not seeing anything like that on mine so it's either because you're no longer considered same household, or that particular item has a surcharge.

We were a dominate inside zone team, but not now.  We've switched to some more outside running, but defenses are penetrating the gaps from the jump (hence all of the negative plays) or we have guys missing their assignment on the move.  The GB linebackers had a good day bee lining to our RBs, while one OL on each play couldn't find a guy to block and trash it up.  This isn't a KP problem, this is a OL problem.

That's how I feel about peacock too. I pay $50 a year or whatever it is just so I can watch SNF in 4k.

It apparently switched from Amazon household to Amazon family, but long story short I was dropped and my wife had to re-add me.
