Not a big fan of these equipment advantages, but it beats guys being smeared with pine tar I suppose.

RTK smears Hurts with pine tar.

Good name that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Arians is a terrific coach. How do I know? He used to get ripped regularly on the Blog. Didn’t have enough style points. Love his no risk it, no biscuit approach. Every play had a deep element. Would love to have him here.

Ive quietly wondered if Howie would package picks to move up for Bain since he was supposedly willing to trade for Parsons, and Garrett.

Bain looks like a Garrett. Hes like 275 and strong, but still incredibly quick.

I kind of figured we save up our draft capital to get Lane’s replacement, but it doesn’t appear to be the draft for that.

There’s a guy names Quincy Rhodes out of Arkansas, who might be in our neighborhood of the draft that’s a big DE that moves very well for his size. There isn’t enough YT out there yet - so I’m always worried about falling into a Tyree Wilson measurables trap. If Howie loves Bain it might be possible, as some teams will be looking ahead to 2027 but getting into the top 5😬

AJ Brown + a 1st might do it.

From Russini:

So what’s A.J. Brown’s problem?

I’ve listened to everything A.J. Brown has said. All of it.

You’ve heard him explain his frustrations with the Eagles’ offense.

"You can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and you expect to win later in the year,” Brown told reporters.

There’s no more guessing about whether Brown is happy playing in this offense. He told the world he’s miserable. But why exactly? What’s being said behind closed doors?

After doing some digging and asking people inside the Eagles building, it was explained that multiple offensive players have grown frustrated with Jalen Hurts’ approach this season, particularly against zone coverage. They believe he’s become hesitant in tight windows, leaning on checkdowns or scrambles instead of trusting what’s open downfield.

Philadelphia ranks 30th in pass attempts. The result? Pass catchers become disinterested. Any top receiver I’ve covered in this league has said the same thing: They spend hours getting open. When the ball doesn’t come their way, frustration follows.

Still, this approach comes with a benefit, right? At their bye week last season, the Eagles had the second-most turnovers in the NFL. Now, in their first season under offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, they have committed the fewest turnovers in the league, and Hurts has thrown just one interception all season. They’re also the best red zone team in football. As long as they get there, they figure they’re scoring touchdowns. It’s conservative, but it’s working … to a point.

It’s a talented offense that knows it’s underperforming. This isn’t just Brown venting. The whole unit wants more trust, more communication and maybe a little more edge from its leader.

Against the Lions on Sunday night in Philly, Hurts and the Eagles get their chance to show it.

I think we have a better shot with McKee, if he gets some PT and shows out.

Impressive journalism by Dianna. I’m glad she was able to get to the bottom of this mystery.

I think the QB class being 1) underwhelming and 2) thinner than originally expected with guys like Manning, Sellers, Moore rumored to return to school will boost McKee’s value some even without playing.

"No risk it no biscuit" football with Jameis Winston was pure entertainment, even if they kinda sucked.

So let's say this tidbit is true.

We've continually had offensive issues.

We took the ball out of his hands more last season.

Our passing game has been abysmal year and, reportedly, players and staff are frustrated with him.

As it's been pointed out time and time again, the constant in this offense has been Hurts. He is no where near as bad as some make it out, but collectively people need to understand there are a lot of issues because of him as well.

You've never played competitive football, and it shows.

There, 3 instances.

Neither has Howie. Let’s get a new GM.

hahahaha I'm not sure I can even bend my arm backwards like that anymore

I honestly am starting to come around to thinking our lines do take it to the Lions on both sides of the ball and the offense has a chip on their shoulder and has a watch this kind of games. The Lions have had this circled, but this Eagles team steps up against big competition. The Eagles have heard the noise as well the last year about them not having to face them to get to the SB. They are going to be ready to rock at home.

I'd rather go to Seattle and play Sam vs Matt anywhere including at home. Carter saved them the last two times and while they don't scare me I'm good avoiding them.

I'd rather not bestow imaginary magical awesome team powers to the Rams or the Seahawks.

Both teams will lose 2+ more games.

If the Eagles win on Sunday which I give them a 75% chance to do (If you built a team to beat the Lions it would be Philly and that's with LaPorta on the field)

Its 2024 again, the only problem is that Siri/Patullo are taking 12 weeks to remove a part of their body from another part instead of 4 weeks.

If you were to Madden Ratings the current roster talent of all the NFL teams, Philly is around a 92 and no other team is in the high 80s.

It was true last year too. Its not homerism. Its just looking at the teams.

Its insane that the rest of the league let Philly fix their biggest weak spot (DE1) while most teams did nothing.

It was not this way in week 1 but Green Bay is down about 5 players including TE1 in the NFL this year.

This team played

2 games without Carter

1 game without Dickerson and 5 games with mangled Dickerson

Q missed 56 snaps vs NY. I'm left without answers as to why the Eagles might struggle without 3 of the 50 best players in the league on the field.

2 games without Jurgens and 7 games with mangled Jurgens

1 game without AJ

1 game without Goedert

8 games without a DE1 beast like Phillips

5 games without Smith

5 games without Dean

8 games without a depth piece disruptor like BG

4 games with a mangled Mailata after Dillon ran over him.

6 games without Bennett who I think should be CB4 if not outside CB2

Epic poems were written about Detroit last year when they had a bunch of injuries on only 1 side of the ball. People wore sackcloth and ashes.

The incredible news is that unlike Hutchinson 2024, all of these guys are recovering or back.

If they have to play in the playoffs without 5 of these guys including 2 or 3 of the best then they will probably lose.

If they are as healthy as other teams, they win another ring.

Last years team was sort of like 95% of the 1989 49ers, including final 4 blowouts and even a 55 point game.

This years team will be more like the 1988 49ers but with a better regular season record.

The Eagles won in KC, in Tampa, and in Green Bay. For most teams when you find the 5+ Ls on the schedule you pick those games.

They beat LA after giving them a free 15 snaps of Matt Pryor at RT. (0 points for Philly and a free 7 for LA)

They lost a stupid Thursday game without lots of key players and Hurts was just really off that day (for like the 4th time in 80 games)

They lost to Denver because AJ quit on a route and the refs screwed Goedert on clear and obvious PI.

This team is not perfect. The rest of the NFL is way more not perfect.

Can anyone tell me about Dan Campbell and Goff's 5 signature road wins that define the Detroit Lions?

Do any of them rise to the level of at a 7-2 healthy and reloaded Philly?

I can give you KC x2, Ravens 24, Rams 24, and Tampa 25 for Siri and Hurts without even thinking that hard or looking anything up.

There is no monster under the bed and there is no elite Detroit Lions team.

When we win tomorrow night the story will be that the Lions didn't have their TE and starting corner amongst other injuries so it won't be a win against the real Lions team.

Tomorrow we find out if the 2025 eagles are more 2024 or 2023. Everyone compares this team to the 2023 Eagles, who ran up a good record by luck, got their souls eaten by the 49ers, and then fell apart.

This is the 2023 49ers game except against Detroit. (I’m not saying it’ll go that way). Just that how this game goes, either way, will be as statement as to who these Eagles really are. Get trampled, and it really will feel like 2023 all over again. Take it to the Lions, and everyone is going to be ready to buckle up for a SB run.

Well one team had the worst defense in the league and this one seems pretty good so I’d say 2025 at least has a much better shot.

Any non-positive statement at Hurts is taken as absolute hate in here. Your statement is correct, he's a decent QB but also ONE OF the reasons the offense sucks so bad rught now. There are multiple reasons, and he is one even if he is towards the bottom of the list. You could also argue he's only on the list because Patullo sucks so bad, because hurts obviously played well last year and under steichen.

You have:

Patullo sucks ass

OL has been bad this year

Sirianni decision making

Patullo again, because F him

Hurts

He still refuses to throw the ball away for whatever Fing reason, and while he has gotten better in this area he still takes stupid sacks, and he also still refuses to slide and when he does it's the second before he gets hit or as he gets hit.

If we play a solid game but come up short it won't look like either.

This is obvious to everyone. I think people need to be realistic and accept that this offense isn't good enough to win a Super Bowl this year. Hopefully we can get an OC that knows what they are doing next year while the window is still open and to not waste this defense.
