EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Hi. There have been several factors contributing to the offensive inconsistency. The OL has been underperforming relative to last season. Defenses have changed the way we defend us. The OC is struggling to adjust mid-game.

Is Hurts a factor as well? Are there things he could be doing better? Is he playing well and the issues lie elsewhere?

I look forward to a sober, objective response.

Its really interesting how you phrased this after your went so far overboard on the Patullo sniffing during MNF but I will bite.

Hurts is an NFL QB. Its the hardest job in sports. No one is perfect. I gave a clear and sober analysis of Peyton Manning at the same exact point in his career yesterday. (age 27 game 9)

Anyone with any level of objectivity would come to the conclusion that Peyton Manning would be hated in Philly by Philly fans for all of his flaws.

So lets dig into Hurts 2025

Week 1. He led the team to scoring drives on every possession until a lightning delay.

His all pro level guard was playing hurt and then his back locked up. He could not block while he was on the field and his replacement was bad.

Could Hurts have found a way for a field goal in the 2nd half? Maybe with a higher level of perfection?

Its splitting hairs. Hurts was awesome. The All 22 people praised him for taking what was there to be taken (which was mostly him running)

A+ MVP level game (but not DAK STATS)

Week 2 was just an ugly slopfest for all 100+ players. The Eagles won. Chris Jones cried. Hurts told him to STFU live on Fox.

I'm sure we could find flaws but here is a lets be fair to all QBs example:

Stafford went 3-0 last year from weeks 15-17 last year while passing for 160, 110, and 189 in wins of 12-6, 19-9, 13-9 and not one person in the NFL world criticized him.

Instead we were told that Stafford and the Rams were on fire heading into Philly for the playoff game.

Mahomes is 48-10 in Arrowhead when not playing the Eagles and 0-2 when he plays them. I don't care how and no one criticizes a single other Eagle for anything to do with either of those wins.

(I mean lingering grudges, not yelling at Patullo on Monday after the game)

No idea how to grade this one. B- or C+ ? (clearly no DAK STATS)

Week 3 Stafford threw a pick, the offense scored, Lane got hurt, Pryor came in and tried to assassinate Hurts.

There are fumbles like the 2022 SB where its all on you. There are fumbles like Monday night this week where ish happens.

There are fumbles that are 100% on a bad lineman. This one was that.

The brain trust eventually figured out that Fred is an actual football player in 2025 so they put him in.

Hurts was amazing the rest of the game.

A+ MVP level but in a Brady SB LI way, not a Montana vs Denver way.

Tampa in week 4 Hurts had a nice first half.

The blocked punt started things off with a bang.

The Eagles got another couple quick scoring drives and took control.

The second half was an entire team mess. If Hurts committed some kind of football crime, I am sure you will provide some deep analysis of it.

Maybe a B?

Week 5 Denver was one of the best games of Hurts' entire career as far as performance on the field.

About 35% of it did not count as passing yards over penalties, incompetent refs, and Goedert giving 70% at the end of a play (he probably did not think the ball was coming his way)

and AJ giving 0% at the end of a play (he admitted he had sad feelings and quit)

Imagine how we feel about Hurts, AJ, and this team if AJ catches that and they beat Denver.

The last drive was awesome QB play. He got the Eagles to the 1 by drawing a PI along with Goedert... the refs cheated.

On the hail mary it was in a perfect location in the back of the end zone where DeVonta had a great shot at it... AJ played defense for some reason.

A+ MVP level in a loss

I want Gruden to force Diana Russini to watch the All 22 with him to see the 500+ yards of moving the ball through the air excellence.

You can do the same without Gruden. Watch the All 22 or just watch the replay.

Anyone who thinks Hurts was not excellent that day is not worth having an adult conversation with about football.

Its weird how we can all say that the Jags kicker hit a 70 yard FG that did not count and treat him with respect but when Hurts has some awesome throws called back by penalty we can't give credit.

Its the opposite of sober and objective.

The first Giants game is interesting because he had DAK STATS. So many of you hate him for not having DAK STATS.

It may have been the worst game of his career and it came down to about 4 plays.

The brain freeze at the first half was bad but the earlier coaching decision or kick return or something was way worse (I'd have to follow up on the details)

The miss on DeVonta can't happen. Its a throw he makes as an 18 year old running the scout team at Alabama.

DeVonta has toasted the D and he's got like a 15 yard radius where he can put the ball depending on loft etc.

The throw was grade Z awful. He flushed a 91 yard TD down the toilet.

He has 1 pick this year. It was really bad. AJ was not open and any conspiracy theory a-hole saying otherwise is just a clown.

AJ got open after the ball was thrown.

I think there was one other really bad play but the DeVonta miss draws lots of attention.

F

Vikings

They have now lost 2 games in a row and Hurts is not going to let there be a 3rd

He was 19-23 for 326 and 3 and he played far better than that.

Only Patullo would hold Hurts to 23 throws on the day and make the game close.

They had a cowards draw inside the 10 in this game. Why let your perfect rating on the day QB throw the ball?

Even Chip knew to just let Foles throw.

A+ MVP level

Giants part 2

He destroyed a pathetic team that played the Eagles at the best time 2 weeks ago and now were playing them at the worst time.

THIS is the kind of game that keeps Hurts from MVPs.

Hurts had 4 TD passes and a 148 rating but only 178 yards.

The Eagles ran for 250+ on the Giants but they could have also passed for 400 if they wanted.

Hurts and Siri and the rest of the team have ZERO interest in getting hurts some DAK STATS

This over matched bad team is like most of the schedule Drake Maye and Josh Allen have faced all year. Its not much better for Stafford.

A+ MVP level

Packers

Ugly game all around.

The fumble was just bad luck on the placement of the Packer on the ground and a perfect peanut punch on a ball that was being protected properly.

You don't want Hurts wrapping the ball with 2 arms and hurting a shoulder as he falls.

Could he have slid 17.4 inches earlier? If he was on another team, yes.

Philly can never assume the refs will spot the ball correctly.

This game had my 2nd worst Hurts play of the year. I was sure DeVonta was flying open for a 60+ TD and Hurts did not let it go.

I'm not sure we will ever know why. DeVonta toasted the corner and the safety was stopped or moving forward and DeVonta was full speed.

I guess he had AJ open for a crosser about 8 yards deep that he had to see through 5 lineman as Parsons was winning on the outside?

Bad conditions, bad fumble luck, Parson tripped Saquon on a game sealing TD or a Saquon slides at the 4 play.

B- (it would be C+ in a vacuum but Patullo/Siri refused to let them play with all the cowards draws)

So overall Hurts is having a borderline MVP level season. I would not put him in the top 3 and maybe not the top 5 but he is right there.

Hes got 21 TDs to 3 turnovers and only 1 of the turnovers was on a bad (terrible) decision

If AJ is open and Hurts does not get him the ball, we blame Hurts. Well I am blaming Hurts not having an extra 61 yards and another TD on AJ being a pathetic weirdo vs Denver.

O LINE

The offensive line has been pretty terrible this year. Its not really a win rate or success rate thing.

They are pretty much all injured (but much healthier today)

Lane is pulling a Jason Peters this year. He is on the field or off the field at random and he is banged up when he plays.

Mailata and Dickerson got ran over by Dillon, hurting both of them.

Dickerson was already a mess and he really needed to miss that Giants game and get extra rest.

Cam Jurgens has not been the guy we expect at all this year (recovering from injury / new injuries)

This is not a Hurts can't play without a top 5 line. They were not a top 20 line for most of this season. (they can be awesome again if they get healthy)

RUN GAME

Hurts does not have a run game to rely on.

Saquon yards per rush in games this year

PATULLO AS KOTITE / HACKETT LEVEL FOOL

It is so glaringly obvious that Patullo is overmatched.

The imbecile can't call plays fast enough.

He has no feel for running an offense. its like a toddler playing Madden.

Most of the awesome inventive plays turn out to be ideas from Hurts or DeVonta or Saquon or the O-line.

I can only think of 1 Patullo supporter on these boards, you on Monday night.

CONCLUSIONS

So bad O-line, no run game for large stretches, and just bottom 5 in the league incompetent OC/HC play calling scheme philosophy (cowards draw festival)

He is still playing like an MVP.

Could I find 10-15 more bad Hurts plays this year? Sure

Can I find 30 bad plays for most other QBs like Mahomes, Herbert, Goff, and even Stafford, yes.

Mahomes can't put the ball on his receivers. He keeps making them dive for no reason. He is worshiped.

Why is Hopkins diving on the ground for the ball when no one was near him? Because 2022-present Mahomes is clearly inferior to 2022-present Hurts.

He did this 3 or 4 times vs Buffalo this year.

USATSI_25380070_168414710_lowres_t800.jpg

If Hurts is bad then every other QB in the NFL 2022-present is as bad or worse.

Every single QB 2024-present is worse.

My god, unless you are related to Hurts, why do you care so much? Are you getting any personal or monetary benefit from this?

Commanders will have totally packed it in by week 16

NOTE:

I am not saying Hurts has the best stats.

Lamar Jackson 2023-2025 is insane. He has a 113 rating with 80 TDs and 12 picks.

he also ran for 1950 and 10 TDs

If you are talking stats its Lamar 1 and no one else close then you can start to look for 2 through 5 (one of those is definitely Hurts)

Lamar also has 4 turnovers in the 2 playoff games he lost in that period.

Eagles 7-2

Rest of NFC East: 8-21-1

This was a tough schedule for the division this year. Eagles are the only ones surviving thus far.

To me rams loss..I think they're one of top contenders and I'd rather them lose the division and have to be on the road for playoffs. I still don't trust Darnold in playoffs 🤷🏼‍♂️

If Hurts is bad then every other QB in the NFL 2022-present is as bad or worse.

Every single QB 2024-present is worse.

Thank for the response. Didn't really answer the question directly, though. It seems that Hurts is overcoming a deficient OL and poor coaching to deliver an MVP season.

That was dumb Josh.

How does the Seahawks vs Rams work out for Eagles ? Rams win ?

Rams. If we have to travel, I'd rather play in LA than Seattle.

Josh Allen is so good…

Josh Allen is showing the kind of decision making that is bringing Jordan Love pages and pages of criticism.

I hate rooting for the Giants.

The Packers can't catch on offense or defense

Josh Allen with a tush push TD. (he pushed his back instead of his butt)

Silence from the announcers. No mention of the assistance.

Shhh! The league wants us on message.

If we play the Bills in the Owl we will totally destroy them

1 - It doesn't seem anything. That is the reality

2 - I have pointed out his biggest mistakes. (they are very few)

Now go ahead and in depth reply about 15 to 25 bad plays that I have missed.

Explain how the 7-2 112 rated 16 TDs to 1 pick QB with a bad run game, messy OL play, and horrific OC support is really a much bigger part of the problem in your dimension.

If you really needed an extra 87 yards passing in wins vs Green Bay, KC, and Dallas then explain it to us. (besides the DeVonta shot he did not take vs Green Bay)

Seahawks win is better ... and then a Rams win in the rematch.

Love heading to lockeroom...his backup in
