Might be able to get a 7 for AJ Dillon or Adore or a 6-7 swap

My son has poisoned my brain with this 6-7 now every time I see it. 🤣

Like the move. Wasn't stingy with giving up essentially an early 4th rounder. Gives Fangio more options and sorely needed overall depth on the line. Needed to fortify the troops on the defense this deadline and he did that. Like to see player for player depth moves with Ringo and Dillon.

Now hoping Dallas doesn't get Hendrickson. The Eagles would still be better than them, but that would be annoying.

We gave up a third for an injury prone player, who is a UFA at the end of the year? Not sure I like that set up.

If he walks at the end of the year he will probably bring a Comp Pick back at a 4th Round level similar to Sweat.

Howie should only be short sighted at this point. He has this offense through the end of the season then potential for Goedert, Brown, Johnson, Dotson to all be gone. Get it now. The future barely exists. Does Philips crank the needle? Likely not, but depth with some skill was needed at DE. If we make the playoffs the player picked at that point in the 3rd round will likely have a 4th round grade. I'd take Philips straight up for one of Robinson, Shipley, Ringo, Z. McPhearson, K. Wallace, or Driscoll. How about you?

Brown is going no where. People need to grasp that. Why would Lane leave? DG likely comes back too.

These are just poorly thought out to try and induce some fomo. Its bad thinking

Dislike the Phillips deal, even acknowledging we'd likely get a 5th back in 2027. Is Phillips better than Patrick Johnson and Azeez? Sure. Is he good anymore? No.

Only real plus is that there is no learning curve for this defense. He can likely play right away.

That is a good and valid glass-half-empty description of the trade. But there is a similarly good and valid glass-half-full description too. The injury-prone part of Phillips is the wild card. If he gets injured then the glass was more empty than full.

Terrible night for DC:

Lattimore - acl, out for the year

McCaffrey - collarbone, out for the year

Daniels - elbow and maybe more? - TBD

Doesn’t matter. Dallas isn’t a player away on defense anyways. He wouldn’t solve their problems

This is the Cowboys schedule. Not worried about them even if they got Parsons back

The "Is he good anymore?" questions on Phillips are ignorant.

His pressure and time to pressure stats are 2025 pro bowl level.

Pressure is the 'Milton Williams is great' stat. Williams was all about pressures in Philly.

He can do this on the edge and he can do this in a NASCAR setup like BG in the Super Bowl.

The idea that he is not an instant upgrade to this line is asinine.

He will also be next to all-world DTs now so he should be better.

He has played for Fangio so he is not coming in blind on his side or the coaches side.

Can he get hurt? So can everyone else.

Wild stat....the Bears have 18 takeaways in their five wins and only 1 in their three losses.

Further on the fraudulent Bears...they have the worst strength of victory among teams with winning records.

Well, we have three guys being added to the active roster now at DE/Edge and two more coming in at DB. Lots of question marks in there but they offer a shot to improve things. We need at least one of those positions to see clear improvement as the combination of no 2nd outside CB and no outside pass rush is very likely to spell the end of this year's run down the road if something doesn't get fixed.

How the roster shakes out is going to be interesting. I can see Robinson going on IR since his primary need is lots of time in the weight room getting stronger. With the IR moves of Epps and Ojulari plus the holding back of BG’s activation, the roster was at 52. Phillips makes it 53. When BG comes in I could see Byron Young getting released. Spots need to be made for Jakori and Nolan though.

Pressure is why Mahomes ran for his life in the BTA Super Bowl and again yesterday.

Pressure forces turnovers and throw-aways and intentional grounding (calling it may vary)

Pressure forces offensive holding.

Do you want everyone to get home so you can get 80 sacks a year? absolutely.

It starts with pressure.

So who would you have traded for and at what cost? Just curious.....

Well it’s meaningless speculation until we see who actually moves and what they moved for. I may not and do not care for Phillips, but unless other players get moved, for all we know, he was the only edge that was available.

But as far as other names, I prefer Chase Young as a not that good and disappointing edge who still has some upside and Chubb as a better player. Are either actually available? Who knows…

Their remaining schedule is statistically one of the easiest in the NFC. Their challenge will be climbing over one of the top-seven teams - PHI, LAR, GB, DET, TB, SF, and SEA. All of whom are objectively better.

I think there's a more positive way to look at Howie trying to capitalize on the Super Bowl window, without moves that are poorly thought out or overpaying. Most of the deals are for cheaper guys with mid to late round picks. A lot of us didn't like sending 2 picks for Bigsby, but if he continues anywhere close to that, it's great. And he's under contract for 2 years. Carter and Alexander are band-aids, maybe one of them sticks around for depth after this year. Phillips is the more "high profile" one and he's just going to be in the rotation.

If there are guys that leave after this season, it's not a doom and gloom it's because it's what Howie allowed to happen (like last year). Lane may retire, may stay another year but the team knows that day is coming. Goedert may be a financial decision but they would have a hole at TE and be forced to find a new starter so we'll see. Dotson isn't a big deal one way or another. They have a strong roster, with decisions to make but the core will be there.

I like the move in that I think making a move for a pick was smart. These chances to win it all never last as a long as you think. We'll see if they went after the right player

Of course they are. A tanking team getting a 3rd round pick for an IR machine that has never had much of an impact…they are probably thrilled to write that check.

Late Third Round picks have plenty of uncertainty associated with them. So Howie is trading future "Draft pick bust/hit”uncertainty for immediate injury risk uncertainty. Given where the team stands in this half completed season, that decision about how to handle uncertainty makes sense to me.

If the Cowboys only lose 2 games then the Eagles could go 5-4 and win the division and the Cowboys will almost certainly lose more than 2 of those games

I like the trade for several reasons, including those already mentioned: having played for Vic, good play in October, position of need, etc. What hasn't been mentioned but which I also like is that his experience with Vic's system should help him to mentor Hunt and Smith. I also like that he's a bigger body. We've been a bit light on the edge and teams have run wide on us with some success. Adding Phillips, and BG, should improve our edge run defense. We were essentially playing with three edge guys and Campbell as our rotation. It looks a LOT better now.

I don’t want to tally it all up, but we’ve traded a bunch of resources (albeit day 3 picks with the exception of Phillips) for a bunch of guys we can’t bank on being here in 2026. Unless I’m missing something, Bigsby seems to be the only one.

If they contribute what is needed to get a Lombardi this season, then Howie will simply have to address those 2026 season roster challenges with a smile on his face.

Looking at Phillips vs Hendrickson this year, Phillips has 9 more tackles (25 vs 16) one less sack (3 vs 4) and is 4 years younger. In watching him, it does seem like he is Sweat type player vs Chubb who is a more BG type player. Throw in Phillips having played under Fangio, I can see why they feel he is the Edge they needed and why they gave up their 3rd. And, I think he will produce more sacks here. He was getting a lot of double teams that he likely won't see next to Carter/Davis.

chiefs badly need to get Simmons back at LT. He’s significantly better than what they have at LT. Frankly if they get him back they can move Moore to RT as i think he’s better than Taylor.

That said, they say Simmons will rejoin the team in a few weeks. But it’s got to be something pretty significantly bad in his life for him to miss over a month. So i under if physically he’s in great football shape and mentally how he’s doing

I wouldn't mind one last trade for depth at TE or DT
