Good catch. They didn't list the snap counts in the stats I looked at it. Phillips played 80% of the snaps the last three weeks. Should help effectiveness being in a rotation which I assume they will with BG and Smith coming back

The difference in the pure strength of our edge group now with Phillips and BG is gonna be noticeable. Add in the physicality of Nolan, and it’s gonna be borderline unrecognizable to what we’ve seen so far this year.

Phillips seemed like a player Howie really coveted(or Fangio did or both). It seems they kinda locked in on him. We'll see if they were right in their evaluations.

That's where I think this trade is different in some years past. Robert Quinn never felt like a guy they coveted. Felt like just taking a flier and overpaid to do it. Phillips doesn't feel like a flier trade.

I think BG is also going to help us in run defense. We’ve struggled against the run at times and imo will be an underrated aspect in his return.

It’s taken 3 hours, but I kinda talked myself into this being a great move. The on-field fit is outstanding.

It also speaks to one guy being banged up on the wrong side of 30 and missing games and having to play a reduced role.

Still effective, but when you take all things into consideration like the cost to acquire him, Phillips is probably a better bargain.

Quinn was also bad that year before coming here. Ditto with Kevin byard at safety when they made those trades. Some of those trades didn’t work out cause the players weren’t having good years prior to coming here. I think jaire and Carter fall into these categories. But gave up less for both than those deals. Phillips is still young and seems to be improving as the year has gone on. Not really that surprising as he’s getting healthier and further away from his acl surgery. Add on better DC than Gannon and Desai/patricia to maximize his talent.

I'm not pivoting at all. My two initial reactions to the trade were trading for a guy who played on a defense where there were reports of a lot of guys hating playing for Fangio and also the reports from Dolphin fans on this guy that he seems to have lost a lot of his ability coming off of two major injuries.

I think Uche stays in the lineup. BG and JP can take up some snaps at DT. BG was brought in here more for vibes and keeping the locker room honest right now in my mind. He needs to be eased back in coming back from retirement and his 2nd triceps surgery in year. I'd say 15 snaps a game should be the eventual quota there.

It’s a HUGE part of it. We hyperfocus on the pass rush, but those 3 guys should be game changers for the run D while adding pass rush juice.

I would imagine the people that watch a team and their players week in and week out would have a fairly good idea to discuss how a player has been for them.

Just as many people here on the EMB hated the Barkley signing, especially when it was rumored the Eagles would sign him.

And there is literally no pivot. My first post made today commenting on the trade:

But his original point was well Dolphins players hated fangio like he was alluding to Phillips might be one of them. We know the players who hated him. It legit was majority secondary players in Miami (most of which have been worse since fangio left). Phillips has said he likes fangio. So that was a bad point to bring up to begin with.

Then he pivoted too he might not be the same player anymore when i brought up stats for Phillips under fangio. The statistics under fangio wasn’t the underlying reason i provided them. It was more there was no way he was gonna hate Fangio with how he was maximizing him and that type of production may have got him a big payday if he didn’t get hurt.

He’s more removed from the surgery with each passing week. So him starting to generate more pass, rush and play better, kind of coincides with him being more removed from the surgery and his knee feeling better and him having more confidence in his knee.

Easy to look up who it was. They went to social media with their gripes. It was largely guys in the secondary (couple of them are not even playing anymore). were reports chubb/phillips had no problems with him since the trade it’s been put out there.

Also don’t see any chance we are trading for Phillips if he were one of the guys who hated fangio especially after what happened with Bryce huff failures here.
