Give Tank the bulk of the carries Friday amd see what happens. When the media asks afterwards just say you wanted to take it easy on a short week with Barkley.

I'm curious if it's his contract

Only explanation I can think of

  • Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Well, that was just horrible. Sorry if some of this is repetitive, but I couldn't stomach reading the blog (or anything about that game) last night. All in all, I am worried this is going to rip this team apart - I'm not sure how they come back from that. And more of it was on the players than on the play calling.

OFFENSE

  • Overall, we really managed to completely sabotage ourselves after the first three drives (2nd one aided by Dallas penalties). 4th drive: we get to 3rd and 2, there's a phantom false start called on Cam for turning his head, incomplete and punt. 5th drive: end of half. 6th drive: 2nd and 2, we hit a 20 yard pass to DG but called back because Pryor doesn't line up correctly, 2 incompletions and a punt. 6th and 7th drives: one first down, no penalties. 8th drive: get 2 first downs, then phantom OPI on Smith and false start on AJ gets us to 1st and 25, miss FG after getting 20 of it back. 9th drive: Pass to Smitty to the DAL 12 called back on Fred's hands to the face, fumble on next play. 10th drive: Patullo calls all curl routes on 3rd and 2. We basically had 6 drives after the opening 3 TDs, and 3 were killed by penalties, 2 just didn't work, and Patullo wasted the last.

  • Hurts wasn't bad in this game, far from it. He was on fire at first, and he still made plays later in the game (but the penalties killed us). Dallas was also getting a ton of pressure on him. But on the list of reasons we lost this game, he's not even in the top 10.

  • The offensive line simply can't run block, I concede that. But we have to start worrying about SB. Bigsby looks better every time he is in there. Tank should be getting 5-8 carries a game, not 2-3. But our inability to run the ball is the biggest issue on this offense. It's time for Stoutland to feel some heat.

  • AJ and Smitty both played well -- AJ had a couple mistakes (no TD, false start), but that OPI call on Smitty was BS. They both did well finding holes in the zone and Jalen hit them. No real complaints with them or DG.

  • As said above, the offensive line is a serious problem. Jurgens really can't play right now -- as scary as it is, Toth is an upgrade. Dickerson is a shell of himself again, and Mailata is up and down. Somehow Steen may be our best lineman right now.

DEFENSE

  • We couldn't get home against Dak all day. Phillips was invisible. And frankly the line got pushed around by the Dallas offensive line, which isn't very good. But the lack of pass rush was the most concerning part of this game.

  • Dean really is playing out of his mind. Sucks for Campbell, but Dean can't come off the field.

  • Baun was good, but man you gotta catch that pick.

  • The secondary went to hell once Reed went out. I have no clue who is playing safety on Friday. Brown and Sam?

  • I can't believe I'm saying this, but losing Adoree really hurt. Coop isn't ready to be an outside CB (maybe with more reps and practice). Is Bennett that useless that Carter and Ringo saw snaps before him??

Not to make this another 10 page Hurts debate but I don't think he played well. He wasn't terrible and he's not high on the list because of so many other bad issues happened. But his accuracy and ball placement has been off since the bye. I can understand the difficult environment in Green Bay and the cold swirling winds in the Linc, but yesterday in a dome was just as bad. He was bailed out a few times by Brown and Smith. To be fair, he did have a few nice throws to Brown in stride but overall, I think he was pretty inaccurate and below average. Especially when you factor in the opposing defense.

It’s gotten to the point where Siri is now liable. His coaching tenure with us should be on the line. If they lose in 2nd/3rd round of the playoffs, which it’s looking like, and he didn’t make the switch during the bye week, that’s all on him.

I dont see tem getting out of the 1st round this year unless something happens and they figure out how to run the ball, and I dont see the coaches making the changes to facilitate that.

Eagles still dont know who they are this year, dont turn the ball over play good D isnt an identity, thats a mantra.

I had high hopes at the start of this season that with 10-11 starters returning and a young improving defense that they could repeat, I know yesterday was just one game but its the same ugly football theyve been playing all year and its not sustainable in the playoffs

I think loeffler probably has better play calling chops but if Siri still has his fingers all over the game plan it wont matter.☹️

I don’t think it’s saving them either. But at this point patullo has gotten worse in the red zone offense and the offense has regressed even more since the bye. That said there’s a bigger fundamental problem with the offense. Last year the pass offense was an issue (forced to low volume and super high efficiency which is extremely hard to consistently win with every year) but it was able to be covered up by a historic running game. That’s not happening this year. So the offense is being exposed as not very creative and too over reliant on talent winning out

As is being said, with Siri the formula will always be, outside OC will move on and there will be internal pressure to replace from within because Nick is the HC.

The only way to solve that is to hire the offense mind as the HC, and then you’d be losing the good qualities that Nick does have, like culture, team building, etc.

Tough to separate yourself from him when he’s been so successful, regardless of much of the credit lying elsewhere.

The scoring of 21 points pretty quickly and then absolutely not being able to adjust is what sticks out to me. The coaching staff had a plan and it worked, right up until the cowboys adjusted. And then they just didn't know what to do.

It was a huge mistake to promote Siri's buddy to OC instead of bringing in an experienced professional from outside the organization like Darell Bevell or Bobby Slowik.

Yup. Even an unknown from college with playcalling experience would have been better than an internal hire with zero playcalling experience who is just a Siri mini me...

Maybe Barkley needs to go make a few more documentaries during the season to help him focus.

Really makes you wonder what they did in halftime. Take a nap?

I didn't even like the clock management before the end of the first half. They were just so content with 21 points and didn't think they'd need to score again

Hurts taking that sack was far and away the worst play of the game and maybe worst play of their season. It was even worse than Gipson fielding that punt, which is also in the top 5. Hurts was protected, he had plenty of time to throw. And even if he just throws it away there, that is a clear go for it on 4th situation at only 4th and 2. Because even if you don't convert, giving it to Dallas already in FG range could actually save you some time to get the ball back and could've ended up working out to their benefit. So to me that was a clear 4 down territory... unless you take an idiotic sack. Which he did. Yeah the play call was bad there, but it's not like Hurts was pressured instantly. Hurts takes some really bad sacks, it's a major flaw of his. Several plays per game he will roll away from pressure and it's clear the play is already dead and he waits an extra 5 seconds to throw it away. I don't get it.

KP is the public defender from My Cousin Vinny. He's great when there is no pressure but is useless when the spotlight is on

I’m not even sure Dallas made good adjustments. We just stop throwing it to aj brown for 2 quarters. 1st quarter: aj brown had 5 receptions for 67 yards. Next two quarters we threw him 1 pass. ONE. UNO. Meanwhile 4th quarter with the game on the line, we finally decided to start throwing it to him again. he had 3 targets for 3 receptions and 43 yards.

Like Dallas had no defense in covering him. It was a gross mismatch for us and every time it went his way they had no answer. Heck he should’ve had 9 catches and another TD if he got his second foot in. So it could’ve been 9 catches on 10 targets. That’s a 90% catch probability on the day. I’d say, Dallas made adjustments, but this has been a problem with the Eagles and AJ Brown going back to 2023. The Eagles have routinelydone this in the past. Again i will harp on this there is no Fing reason why a top 5 wide receiver in the NFL is going two quarters getting one target, especially when Dallas corners had no answer for it. It is absurd.

I just think they are not offensively creative. Its like someone that knows how to play chess because they know how all the pieces move around, but zero strategy and thought put into the long game.

I understand it's not blocked well but again it's two stutter steps before he cuts.

He needs to understand these OL aren't going to wash guys out anymore, plant your foot and go. There were 2-4 yards to be had there if he just hits it

There was no reason to lose that game but 8-3 is 8-3. I think we’ll learn a lot on Friday. The Bears should get put away early.

You been watching this Eagles team?

I think he's seeing ghosts from all the backfield hits he's taken this season, and is now hesitating. The obvious solution here is to limit his carries and unleash the tank instead until Saquon figures it out. Or have dual RB backfield looks to confuse the D.

The offensive line hasn't played well and guys are banged up, but I'm sorry. I saw Dallas, who has a less talented OL than the Eagles play a game this season missing 4 of 5 starters and find ways to move the ball consistently and run the ball. The Bucs had at least one if not multiple games where they were missing 3 starters. Every damn week I watch red zone and teams that have far less talented OLs lose guys to injuries, have guys in and out of the lineup. They find a way. With less talented RBs too. I see it every damn week.

I'm not saying I expect the Eagles to have the #1 running offense in the NFL again. But they can't get anything going every week? Nothing? They can't bust one big play? When you still have guys with talent on this OL. You have Barkley. You have Bigsby. You have Goedert. You have Hurts' legs as a threat. You have WRs on the outside to take attention from the defense. It's totally unacceptable. I have to put that on coaching and preparation.

Yup Siris offensive philosophy of were going to beat you with simple basic football because were just have more talent and are better than you doesnt cut it when the talent drops off and thr biggest talent drop off this year has been their usually stellar O line yet Siri instead of trying to scheme things up just continues with the pee wee league route combinations and vanilla schemes and playcalling

The eagles cant just line up and get 60 yards runs every game yet they run the offense like they are.

I was happy to see the eagles run a lot more 11 yesterday instead of 12 but how many targets did Dotson get in those sets? Zero. Part of that is on hurts and part of it on scheme and routes.

Even on the last 3rd and 2 they line up in 11 and get pre snap what looks like a 1 on 1 up top with AJ but instead the LB slides over and AJ runs a 5 yard hitch that the DB is sitting on because the cowboys have seen that a bazillion. It looked like a 1 read play, which I hate and when that read was gone hurts had no idea what to do with the ball. Why even pass the ball there in the first place, stupid call, stupid scheme stupid execution and thats been the eagles all year, that one play sums up so much of whats wrong with the most expensive offense in the league

The offense isn’t very creative and they aren’t very good on the fly to counter when teams actually make adjustments. Unlike fangio, the defense doesn’t just have an over reliance on their talent. The offense is just overwhelmingly uninspiring play calls and believes their talent will eventually overwhelm the opposition.

DAL didn't really deserve to win, players made several mistakes and the coaching made several mistakes.

  1. Going for 4th and 3 at midfield on the opening drive? Punt the damn ball, gave PHI a short field for a TD. coaching

  2. 2nd PHI drive was full of penalties, big 3rd down to get off the field, Clowney is good for an offside call every game, another PHI TD. player

  3. DAL is driving, Turpin AS A RB fumbles at the PHI 31, another good drive by PHI and another TD. player and coaching, use your damn RB not a glorified kick returner

  4. DAL is driving, 2nd and goal @ the 1 and Guyton jumps early, INT in the EZ. player and coaching, run the damn ball

  5. DAL gets a gift turnover in the RZ and decides to turn it over on downs instead of taking the points with 5 minutes left in the game...stupid. coaching

  6. CeeDee with three drops, PHI is in his head, he was spooked of getting lit up after the catch. player two games in a row against PHI with the drops.

  7. Missed FG. 2nd miss in two games is Aubrey cracking? player

23rd ranked offense … smh

You just answered it. The fact that they left timeouts on the board tells you everything you need to know.

They're seriously that stupid, with absolutely no indication that the running game would ever work, they keep thinking their Mickey mouse inside zone will eventually magically work and solve all their problems

While he has very limited reps, Tank has been producing behind the same OL. I just think its ridiculous to be releasing documentaries about your greatness mid season. Focus on the season first and celebrate later.

  1. I personally thought it was the correct call. Defenses shouldn't have much respect at the moment for the Eagles offense and that's what you saw.

  1. I would have went for the points but I also kinda get going for it in that spot being the underdog team and a position to nearly seal the game. Worst comes to worst, you put the Eagles offense inside the 2 who hasn't come close to scoring in over 2 quarters and you get the ball back with good field position to win it, which is basically what happened.

  2. CeeDee is an Eagles sleeper agent
