EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Handing play calling to Scott Loffler is completely unfair to him. He would be getting set up to fail.

Sirriani should be forced to do it and completely own the results.

It’s bad marriage where they’ve won a record percent of games for the franchise and have been to 2 Super Bowls and won one. I know no one wants to be rational now but that is still true

Yes, results wise it's a good marriage, but what I'm saying is most of this happened because Nick was smart enough to realize he needed to step back due to this incompatibility. However, that leaves us with ZERO back up plan.

I mean think about it. Other than Mariota was here, how many times have our backups mimicked the skillset of Jalen Hurts? Did no one notice this?

2021: Joe Flacco
2022: Gardner Minshew
2023: Marcus Mariota (the exception)
2024: Kenny Pickett
2025: Tanner McKee

....Has no one ever stopped to think about why the vast majority of the seasons, the backup QB prototype they use is so different from Jalen?

End of the day, this team just not nearly talented enough. It Jason been largely overrerated by many on this board. It falls on the players. Kellen Moore is not sime great offensive coordinator. He just had a loaded and healthy roster and they did what the Bears did today the Eagles by gashing teams. To me it was obvious, once you let Becton go we are are no longer a smash mouth road grading offensive line and the identity and mindset of the offseason needed to change to a pass heavy offense, but it didn't. Still playing with the idea we are better than everyone and don't need to be imaginative or creative. No longer can physically dominate their opponents.

This team has a ton of talent. It's the coaching that is letting them down.

Bears ran 85 plays. Defense was just on the field too much vs Dallas, and after just 4 days of rest had to play another 85 snaps.

Hope they can recover enough before next week.

Jalen Hurts is like McDonald’s

If you rate McDonald’s hamburgers on any of the scales that define a quality hamburger, it’s going to rank very very poorly. Bun consistency, meat freshness, condiment quality, size, healthiness, sear, juiciness, whatever. McDonald’s does not make very good hamburgers; but what they do make is really good McDonald’s. It’s not really a hamburger as much as a weird meat sandwich they sell that tastes really good.

If you ask Jalen Hurts to run Matt Ryan’s offense or Philip Rivers’ offense or Drew Brees’ offense or even Dak Prescott’s offense, it’s probably gonna look like this. But if you ask Jalen to run what works for him, it’ll be cheesy and unconventional and sometimes even impractical… but it has worked, really well up until this year. Weird, poorly rated burgers are super popular for a reason.

Kevin Patullo just doesn’t understand what that is supposed to look like

Lol while that whole thing is a a bit of a mess I agree with the last part. KP cannot run a Hurts offense

omg just please let the eagles win 3 more games; I can't see dallas losing at home with the refs calling DPI for pickens like 4x in a game.

If we're being honest with ourselves.. Stout has had a bad season

Not nearly as talented as last year. This is not just about Patullo. That's shortsighted. Took a major hit on talent and everything got spread thin because of it. The backuos have failed them.People playing hurt and too many snaps cuz there's no better options.

Its not going to change a lot.

Just like when we switched to Scarangello you notice a little new wrinkle here or there, and then they disappear because the new OC learns the QB cant/wont run that stuff.

Same will happen this year, IF we change play callers.

Its the likely next step, but the only change that will provide significant results will be a QB change. That allows the entire offense to change, and improve. Even with Patullo still at OC, and calling plays.

There are teams, specifically offense, doing a lot better with less talent. Coaching is the glaring problem here.

who is ready to get even more upset watching the 6ers at 7:30?

He literally can't. Howie's QB is his polar opposite schematically, and I'm honestly not sure they'd even let him bench Hurts considering his no-trade clause, which Howie also negotiated. Therefore, he almost certainly can't do this.

AJ was just asked if guys are getting schemed open enough, and he said yeah. Said execution is the issue. Believes they have the right people in this locker room to get it fixed.

I was wondering how much input he has. I don’t think he all of a sudden forgot how to couch but it certainly hasn’t looked good this year.

Well typically when you need to go to your back up, you shrink and play basic football. Better alternative to the Huntley and Josh Johnson’s of the world. Tyrod is 8000 years old at this point and there’s only 1 Winston.

I know. Which is precisely why Loeffler should not be handed this ish show.

Sirriani should be forced to do it and get fired when it still sucks.

True. However the first half 25 mins of the game was largely on themselves. First series of the game bears marches down for a 6 min drive and we got a nice stop on 4th. Second drive was 5 mins for a TD . Then the third was just under 7 min drive for a field goal. Eagles offense had 2 possessions with 6 mins to go in the 1st half and we had a FG on one. Bears had nearly 18 mins of possession the first 25 mins of the game

Agreed I meant moreso in general this season. Defense is starting to quit since offense is nonexistent.

Id be ok with him doing it, and not getting fired.

He's survived multiple HCs now. I'd assume he has a lot of power. He's just had a horrible season because of injuries. Maybe stubbornness?

I think Sirianni is the biggest problem, but the Eagles are going to have to be bad for a few years for them to move off him. It's a frustrating situation. I just don't see what competitive advantage he brings to the table.

They literally just won the last Super Bowl

You can see guys open watching the game. Not wishing ill will on Hurts, but if he gets dinged and McKee had to play, it would answer a lot of questions.

AJ was asked if changes are needed. He said thats a crazy question.

But no.

Hurts had three guys open for a walk in TD on the miss he had to DeVonta, so he’s not technically wrong. They don’t have enough of those plays though.
