Hmmmm looks like Eagles have a Cowboy problem...

This Sirianni/Patullo high school offense wont cut it if Eagles meet the Cowboys in Playoffs in Philly, they will KO Eagles....

Yeah I called this wrong, Eagles dont have a cowboy problem they are easily winning the east and eagles might not even make the playoffs...

Sirriani and Hurts will both be here next year

Well typically when you need to go to your back up, you shrink and play basic football. Better alternative to the Huntley and Josh Johnson’s of the world. Tyrod is 8000 years old at this point and there’s only 1 Winston.

But again, they're not even in the same ballpark. We haven't even DRAFTED a QB with a skillset that mimicked Hurts. Not even as a late flier or something. I truly do not think it's a coincidence.

omg just please let the eagles win 3 more games; I can't see dallas losing at home with the refs calling DPI for pickens like 4x in a game.

Even if we win 3 and cowboys win all 5, it won't matter lol. We need the Cowboys to lose to the Lions next week big time

No, you misunderstood what I'm saying. I'm not saying there needs to be a Senior Offensive Assistant to help with the passing game, I'm saying that if you run a CEO coach (which is fine), and have immense, repeat success (Super Bowl Berths), AND you have a target painted on you for OC plucking (Hurts and how the league sees his OCs), then you MUST have a built-in succession plan, or you WILL be a tick-tock team.

There is only one exception to this, and that's if you luck out by some team firing their entire staff, and so there are extra candidates on the market.

Here’s the problem. I don’t think Jeffrey Lurie wants strictly a CEO coach. He wants the CEO coach that can also design plays and call an offense. He wants a mcvay (CEO part isn’t his strong suit) and Reid who can do both. The issue is he wound up in a spot with sirianni, where they’ve had so much success (howie’s roster construction) that it kind of handcuffs him in his ability to fire him or move on. Add on i think he believes hurts is capable of being a top tier passer. Which many might disagree, but i don’t see him being that consistent. Can’t for a big game or a couple games. But he’s never going to be consistently that.

The issue is having a plan in place sounds great. They could’ve went and did that with Frank Reich. He could’ve been their senior assistant. However, when the Stanford job opens up and luck comes calling saying hey, do you want to do this? he was gonna leave. Can use your guy bevell but he currently is pass game coordinator and Qb coach in Miami. He’s not leaving unless you give him a better position and more well paid.

I think the fundamental problem with all this is it goes back to this offense with Jalen hurts and Nick Sirianni doesn’t exactly mesh well unless there’s a really great rushing attack which I said last year Lori wants to be a passing team. It’s why he’s paying brown, Smith hurts and goedert the money he’s paying them. (Tbh it was an offense when sirianni got hired to maximize wentz as a passer). He kind of tried it early with hurts then adapters and gave up play calling early in his tenure. We heard it at the end of 2023 that hurts and sirianni were not on great terms. Last year they looked like they were on great terms because last year they were winning consistently and the running game look good. Still heard some things from hurts that sounded like it wasn’t all peachy like the straight jacket comment.

The overwhelming problem to me is you could keep doing that with offensive coordinators and hiring senior assistance. Have plan after plan. But when push comes to shove, Nick Sirianni‘s offense either isn’t good enough and lacks maximizing his talent or hurts isn’t a fit to run it the way he wants. Either way it’s not good. Imo, I don’t think Nick Sirianni knows how to utilize the personnel he has to it advantage (i thought this with Doug as well but he had less talent as the years went by). if you’re going to rely on senior assistance and offensive coordinators to do that for him, then you should really just move on from him because you’re never gonna get that consistency and it’s hard to continuously keep planning that.

I don't want to look at scenarios but how many games do the eagles have to win to win the division?

You can see guys open watching the game. Not wishing ill will on Hurts, but if he gets dinged and McKee had to play, it would answer a lot of questions.

If McKee comes in and starts dotting people up again....yeah....

The best time to fire Patullo was weeks ago. The next best time is now. The worst is waiting until the offseason

Well we are 1.5 games ahead. So we need to get to 12 wins without having any of the Cowboys wins and losses to count

That wouldn’t make Patullo worth a damn as a coach. He’s been with Jalen for 5 years and has no idea how to call plays for him.

12 to win outright, 11 with tiebreakers

It would prove what a lot suspect, his pre snap recognition and inability to go through his reads is not a coaching problem.

so they have to win 4 of remaining 5 assuming dallas wins out...so no 🤣

I disagree. I think he loved the Wentz pick because he was the pocket passer that had the arm and could run if need be. He just happened to break and shatter and became a dud mentally and physically

Hurts has been able to turn it on in some big moments but in others he doesn't. One would say this was a big moment and he looked like trash. I don't doubt his drive to want to get better. He showed he'll fix himself. I just think he'd got a limit that technically Lurie wants to achieve. Though I'm sure if we win a lombardi with average to subpar QB play then he'll be happy either way. Lets be honest that the defense won the last SB

I’ll disagree with you on that. Because when the Eagles were at their best with Carson wentz is when he could improvise with his legs and do things as a runner. That was important in all this. Being a good pocket passer was also high on there. Along wit supposedly his IQ. The Eagles can say whatever they want, but if Jared Goff would’ve fallen into two (and knew that was gonna happen) I don’t think they make that trade up. They wanted Carson went because of the things you said, but also his ability to keep plays alive out of structure and be able to utilize his legs. Let me point this out. They were considering drafting Jordan love in the first round per Adam caplan in 2020 before drafting hurts. The reason was because he was a dual threat. Which was movement in the nfl.

No offense Jeffrey lurie sat there and told everybody he didn’t wanna miss on the next Russell Wilson when hurts was drafted. You wanna know what Russell Wilson is in his prime? He was great at keeping plays alive, moving the pocket and great at plays outside of structure. As a pure pocket passer, he was also kind of inconsistent. Kind of similar to Jalen hurts. Furthermore when they drafted Jalen hurts the nfl movement at that time was Lamar Jackson, what you saw Andy Reid do with Patrick Mahomes, and what Josh Allen had become. Lurie wanted that if Carson couldn’t provide some of that anymore.

Was thinking about going to the game next week as I live here in Orange County. But I’m going to go ahead and pass. Tickets are around $400 for decent seats. No thanks

You’ll miss 6-9 points from them and 150 yards of offense… hard to pass up.

Patullo has to be fired, this is unacceptable on so many different levels.

I agree with some of this and disagree with some of this. The biggest thing I agree with is yes, Nick and Hurts schematically are a match made in hell. A lot of it really comes from this. For a while I really did not like Hurts approach, but the more I thought about it, the more I realize it's the two of them together that's causing a lot of the issues.

Senior assistant wise, nah, I think Lurie is one of the easiest types to do succession plans with because he's shown willingness to really invest money to make the team good. Same applies to someone like Bevell if you wanted him. But I really think the thing is, this situation's true culprit is the mismatch between Sirianni and Hurts from a schematics standpoint. Everything else that you have to do is compensating for this fundamental problem.

As for Lurie, look, he can want a McVay, Reid, or Shanahan all he wants, but they're considered what they are because they're rare and uncommon. I agree that's what he wants too, but trying to find one is going to be easier said than done if he wants to go that route. He could end up with another Chip Kelly instead.

Bench hurts for a game. Andy did it to McNabb.

Had a great night out, watched the game on a speed watch. The O is a sloppy and arrogant mess. Sirianni can say no changes, but that O is the worst of both worlds. Basic and not executed well. It needs sending on a way trip to Mars.

Does the O side of the ball really want to win? I can honestly say, they don't at this moment. Need to stop living on what they did and realise what they have done The team general looks soft
