2 hours ago2 hr I’m scratching my head about the Jest/Colts trade. 2 1st round picks and Adonai Mitchell for Sauce Gardener?Wow.I’m not sure I would have given up one first round pick, let alone 2 first round picks. Jets won that trade, hands down.
2 hours ago2 hr This is kind of funny. I don’t think the Jets should be worrying about who they trade with for the next few years

Some of it was by design by letting players walk for money while setting up to pay big money to some of your own guys.Every FA brought in during the off-season has stunk though. Uche is the best and he's just ok. Smith was a good signing at the time and played well when he was here, but that's the risk you take signing an old guy dragging his feet to sign with the team. The trades were also pretty bad if you look at them as a whole. He traded Pickett for DTR, which was a disaster. The problem was compounded by drafting McCord who was also a disaster. So he had to fix it by trading again for another QB. The CJGJ trade ended up pretty pointless. Bennett might be good but is still TBD and Booker has been decent. The best trade he made was getting rid of Huff and getting a condition that's attainable while getting San Fran to take on money. As far as the in season trades, we'll see how they end up. Bigsby was decent even though they wasted half the season with him on ST's only. Phillips very well could be good. With all that said, it's important to keep in mind the Eagles are 6-2 and a big part of that is because Howie had a fantastic 2024. He's still the best GM in the NFL.I agree with your overall point but the strategy was we lack the resources / cap space so you have to resort to lower value and lower probability of working out players. When forced into that situation, the best thing you can do is take multiple shots at the board and hope a few them pay off. To be able to take multiple shots, you accumulate picks which you can deal for those shots. I understand that logic.Pickett wasn't traded for DTR straight up - the trade was more about the pick with DTR a throw-in who may work out #3. McCord was a miss. He needed one of them to work out to come out and top and missing both meant we went from Kenny to Howell with the picks cancelling out (got back a fifth and traded away a fifth, got back a sixth and used one on McCord. CJGJ was all about cap space and clearly wanting to move on from him - I didn't like it or the return.Bennett for Booker - you got to give up value to get value. He took a shot to address the weakest part of the team from #4 DT.Ojulari / Uche - 2 shots, you hope 1 of them works out. Hasn't found a #3 DE in there but Uche is OK as your #4.To me there were actually three other areas where he went wrong which have had more of an impact: 1) Evaluation of Ringo and counting on Adore to be a sufficient enough fall-back plan. 2) EDGE group to start the season (depth was lacking going into the season) 3) OL depth with swing tackle in particular (counting on Lamm to be an upgrade and letting Fred walk). But this is why you accumulate picks - he has been able to take multiple swings to address #1, #2 is hopefully addressed with Phillips trade and #3 was done by bringing back Fred

2 hours ago2 hr Apparently there was a deal in place for the titans to trade Tony pollard but their owner shut it down

2 hours ago2 hr As much as some folks want to slam the Jets - they’ve had a heck of a day.Acquired THREE first round picks, one 2nd round pick and two (potentially) starting caliber players for a decent (not elite) CB and a DT who has been asking for a trade all year. They won the trade deadline day, imo.Now what they do with their newly acquired draft capital is another story.

Paris is a cool town just big enough for a few good restaurants and far enough away from the metromess of DFW. We will be moving east in the next few years, Mt Vernon, Mt Pleasant, Sulphur Springs maybe. I can't deal with all the growth here anymore, we had 1500 people when I graduated, now we have over 26k and adding a second high school (6A), and the building has no end in sight. Rude people coming in by the droves, we used to pass each other on the roads and wave, now people are flipping you off because traffic has gotten so bad since they didn't keep up with the infrastructure needs.Princeton TX about 20 miles from here had 30% growth in ONE YEAR (from 28k to 37k population) from July '23 to July '24, they have stopped any new subdivision planning until infrastructure can catch up.I have found two good restaurant in Paris in 20 years. My FIL’s favorite Italian restaurant and a restaurant with jalapeño gravy for their chicken fried steak. There isn’t a decent BBQ place in town. It’s east Texas and crap BBQ. (It’s Dickey’s/Soulman’s bad. Kind of a dying town. Got to go to Blossom for a liquor store. Sulphur Springs is not much better. Now Greenville, I like. Lot of poor in the Paris area, and next door in Red River county, it is real bad. The rampant bigotry is like stepping back about 75 years. And for some reason, they didn’t like my Eagles Super Bowl Champions shirt there on my last visit. Commerce may be the worst speed trap I have ever seen. Coming from the west or Houston I drive through there regularly and see a person pulled over just about every time. They grew (and still do to some degree) so much cotton in that part of east Texas that the soil is crap nowadays. I like the area down around and south of I20 more than the I30 corridor. More rolling and prettier. But then I live in the hills in south central PA now and that beats any place in east Texas in my way of thinking.

Getting Mazi with this haul actually decreases their overall return value lolBut they are the Jets, so they'll just eff it up anyway

Otherwise it makes no sense to trade a player who doesn't want out, is still great, would hurt you cap-wise, team's still contending, and player is still young enough. Howie is not trading a player just because he wanted more targets for a stretch of a season.

You never know how situations change but the writing is on the wall

If they are smart, they are using those 1sts to trade for other established veterans while still retaining some to use during the draft.
1 hour ago1 hr A few mentioned this in here, but seeing Howie mention this makes me think even more about it (no offense to board members).Makes me wonder a bit more about the future of Reed Blankenship. Might be easier to restructure/extend Carter than it is to give Blankenship a new deal. Could Carter be an eventual replacement moving forward?
1 hour ago1 hr When teams trade players it virtually always checks one of the following boxes:-Player asks to be traded-Team thinks player makes team worse(either on field or in locker room as a problem child)-Player is in decline, so trade him to get value while you can-Team is bad so is rebuilding-Trading player gives significant cap relief-You get a generational haul for a player you had no plans to move and offer was simply too good to be true.An AJ Brown trade checks none of those boxes. The Eagles aren't in the business of trading good players away who are happy being part of the team, can still play, and are loved by their teammates because they want more catches. Can't think of a trade off the top of my head for a player of that caliber that didn't at least check one of those boxes.Like if a team offers 3 firsts or something insane, ok, you could argue the last box, but no one's offering that.I'll put the odds at 5%. I'll check back with my source in the offseason and see if anything changes from what I last heard as well.

Could be traded ahead of 2027 season depending on how offense is at that time, cap, his level of play. What wouldn't surprise me is they start preparing for that possibility this offseason by taking a WR Day 1 or Day 2.
