Oh man. How is this team so bad?

Add in that he worked for Andy (and played for him), and Kafka makes a TON of sense. Pederson got the HC job because of his connection to Andy, who Lurie still holds in higher regard than any coach since.

And if Kafka has any success, he’s gone in a year for a HC job anyway. That’s the problem with a CEO HC. Every OC is lost to either failure or success/promotion. It’s a constant rotation by definition.

Yup...Stout didn't all of a sudden forget to coach. That is a really ridiculous take. There is much more variables going on including health, defensive scheming etc...He is not calling the plays rather provides feedback during the week when the game plan is being put together. Running into stacked 8 man fronts with injured OL in tight formations, high school routes etc is not at all about Stout...he can see his tired OL getting pushed back...I seriously doubt he would call for any more tush pushes.

Yup, I doubt (and if it’s real then Siri should be gone) that Stout and Loeffler (is the pass game coordinator right?) have that much input on the play to play calls. Their input comes from tablet study in between drives, helping with sequencing and whatnot. Honestly, I’m at the point where i think the main issue is whoever is in the box feeding info on what the D puts on the field. Patullo is pretty inept, but i can’t see him being that inept. There’s a serious communication issue from whistle to huddle break when the headsets are live.

That and/or like I’ve said for years, the NFL generates too much revenue as an entertainment business to leave things up to chance.

I know everyone wants to fire Patullo, and justifiably so. But I don’t get what’s gotten into Hurts since the bye. Every week it’s just more and more inconsistency. They aren’t going to bench him but they need to figure wtf is going on with him and get him into a rhythm or something.

Hopefully the tush push is gone forever. Was the turning point of game. Hurts can sneak on his own. Kills our offensive line as well. Always thought that was a dumb play. Eventually the league catches up with stuff like that. It's just another example of how Eagles are predictable and can be defended. Back to the drawing board. Lot of soul searching these next 9 days. Let's see how stubborn they are.

Wilson was an OC’s absolute nightmare at his ‘peak’. He was really only good out of structure. Honestly, when people talk about him in the tiers of QB’s i laugh at people who thought he was ever truly elite. He was good at extending plays and throwing up prayers during scramble drills.

Hurts’ arm talent is no where near Wilson’s though. His arm allowed him to get away with a lot.

Exactly. The problem is the people who say he was a truly elite quarterback never watched enough games. Or when they watched because his out of structure plays were so phenomenal that people value that more. The reason Wilson got himself in the trouble as the years went by was because athletically he couldn’t do those things consistently anymore. Allowed teams to Make him a pocket passer and once that happened he’s never been able to consistently play well.

Think Jalen hurts is a good Qb (not recently). Do I think Jalen hurts is an elite player? No. Do I think he can be a good quarterback? Yes. Do I think he could play elite in big games? Yes. Will he do that more consistently over 17 games? No. right now he has not looked good since the bye week. He’s looking good in spots and a moments, but never consistently throughout a game.

The Eagles need to start using his legs more. Because right now as a passer, he’s not consistent enough. When the Eagles are at their best is when he’s running. I brought the stats last week. They’re not running him as much. Part of that feels like they’re trying to manage him through 17 games knowing he’s gotten banged up. You can protect him, but all it really takes is one rush to knock him out. That is the sad reality based off playing the position the way that he is to maximize him. if you’re not gonna maximize him that way then we are going to see more of the same until he gets himself back on track

I think you can argue that a year of a top OC with the talent available vs the now with Patullo, you'd take the top OC and go again with a new OC. Why? The scheme and coaching on O is sub par at this moment.

It almost justifies that the continuity model is something that won't woirk

Just throwing this out there but Wilson also had a historic defense

Eli with legs.

The run blocking has been abysmal. Its like they take turns in who is going to miss the block on a particular play. There is zero cohesion. Hurts cannot win of we cannot run the ball. I still say we should shutdown Dickerson and Jurgens till they can get healthier.

Some needs to hit Hurts with their truck in the parking lot. No permit damage needed, just out 6-8 weeks should do it

Yup...I have been preaching the need to put Patullo up in the press box to get a better perspective and have a crew to solicit feedback from directly.

Frankly i don’t think he’s happy in this offense. We heard it at the end of 2023 those issues between him and sirianni. Feels like 2024 covered up a lot of them as they were winning and running game was prolific. I bet those get louder as the end of the season comes.

Listening to hurts after they made the announcement that it was Pattulo didn’t sound thrilled like it was forced to and with someone he didn’t trust. I’m also curious because brown seems to like Pattulo (higher on the hire of him) if that’s not part of another issue going on right now.

I think they should have mixed in more fakes. It's truly amazing they didn't. And not in a good way

Hurts is a weird case study and sadly his game is almost back full circle to his early years. He’s almost completely inept right now if you force him out of the pocket. He’s not the runner he used to be, he’s wildly inaccurate on the move as well and he’s retreating way too much.

I’m pretty sure I’m back on the Hurts hate train…f.

We are in this chicken and egg death tailspin. The coaches clearly don’t have confidence in Hurts and Hurts is frustrated with the coaches. The route concepts aren’t going to change because they are afraid to change them with Hurts pulling the trigger.

Did it work fine with Steichen 3 years ago? Sure. That was 3 years ago 1 year in Hurts’ career. Is it Hurts fault? Or the coaches fault that 2022 doesn’t just happen every year? I say both.

The bigger issue is though the passing game wasn’t really good last year. They were ranked 30th. They could afford to be efficient and minimize it, because the offensive line and the running game was so good. the defense was a number one ranked defense across the board so they could be that.

I think the passing game issues that still exist today existed last year. Kellen Moore was able to figure some of it out by the time he got to the NFC championship game and the Super Bowl. let’s be honest, prior to those two games it felt like every week you didn’t know what was coming from the Eagles passing game. We knew consistently what the defense was gonna do. We knew consistently what the running game was gonna do. But the pass offense was over the place. And we had the same problems with AJ Brown, where we couldn’t just get him the ball for prolong stretches. The difference now is the running game and OL can’t carry the passing, sirianni and hurts

He was terrible. The tush push fumble was what lost them the game. They were headed down to take the lead.

I think the offense being so bad every week has just kinda broken everyone. The defense is getting tired being on the field all game and the offense has no idea how to fix the issues so everyone's confused and pressing.

Run blocking isn’t abysmal…when you don’t have enough hats to match hats and you bring the entire D inside the hashes WTF do you expect? Yes people are hurt and not playing up to their level…but it’s so much more than just the OL isn’t run blocking well.

I swear, the more I think about it, the idea that they didn’t give Tank even 1 carry seems like a big FU to somebody.

There’s just no logic in that at all unless it’s intentional.

You and I talked this a bit before, but at this point i doubt that’s going to improve anything. Can’t hurt to try i suppose?

This sounds like it’s 50% a hurts problem then too.
