EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Not enough is being made of the decline of the tush push. Their passing offense has always sucked. They developed an asymmetric competitive advantage by constantly running hitch routes short of the first down marker…that’s always going to be softer coverage because teams logically just don’t defend that part of the field as aggressively.

The value in the tush push was in being absolutely automatic. Now that it’s not…that whole design of the offense is wiped out and ineffective. It’s not 1st and 9 anymore.

We are a clown show

This sounds like it’s 50% a hurts problem then too.

The only reason last year happened is the o line paved the way for a top 10 rushing season.

Fing done with this bozo

I know everyone wants to fire Patullo, and justifiably so. But I don’t get what’s gotten into Hurts since the bye. Every week it’s just more and more inconsistency. They aren’t going to bench him but they need to figure wtf is going on with him and get him into a rhythm or something.

Inconsistency implies he’s doing something good. Hes been quite consistent for a while now.

The bigger issue is though the passing game wasn’t really good last year. They were ranked 30th. They could afford to be efficient and minimize it, because the offensive line and the running game was so good. the defense was a number one ranked defense across the board so they could be that.

I think the passing game issues that still exist today existed last year. Kellen Moore was able to figure some of it out by the time he got to the NFC championship game and the Super Bowl. let’s be honest, prior to those two games it felt like every week you didn’t know what was coming from the Eagles passing game. We knew consistently what the defense was gonna do. We knew consistently what the running game was gonna do. But the pass offense was over the place. And we had the same problems with AJ Brown, where we couldn’t just get him the ball for prolong stretches. The difference now is the running game and OL can’t carry the passing, sirianni and hurts

We aren't just an average rushing team, we're a terrible one. Going into this game we were 25th in YPC at 3.9 versus being 5th at 4.9 last year. Dropped from top of the league to damn near the bottom. So we just have no answer for that as the whole plan seemingly was just to redo last year.

Now here's the part that really drives me nuts -- Barkley was having some success today. 13 for 56, 4.3 YPC. Not horrible. And today, in gusty winds, we throw it 34 times and run it 17. It was a one score game most of the day, and we abandoned the run game against a team missing all its linebackers when we were having some success. Nah -- let's throw it 2x as much and never give Bigsby a carry. Williams has a strong arm and completed less than half his passes...but we decided this was the day to air it out.

I just have no explanation.

I swear, the more I think about it, the idea that they didn’t give Tank even 1 carry seems like a big FU to somebody.

There’s just no logic in that at all unless it’s intentional.

It’s really unbelievable

Pretty brutal that Dallas broke both the 2023 team and this year’s team. The SF game in ‘23 started it but that Dallas game pretty much let everyone know things were going down the drain.

Hurts is a weird case study and sadly his game is almost back full circle to his early years. He’s almost completely inept right now if you force him out of the pocket. He’s not the runner he used to be, he’s wildly inaccurate on the move as well and he’s retreating way too much.

I’m pretty sure I’m back on the Hurts hate train…f.

I am not on the hurts hate train. I understand the frustration with everybody though. Because I’ve understood it since the time he was drafted. I think work ethic wise he is going to get everything out of his athletic talent. That’s not the problem. He just has a limitations. Which really begin to be exploited run game isn’t there and when coaching and scheming also isn’t great.

My two questions with Jalen hurts were always can you win a Super Bowl with him? Which he clearly answered, you could. And the second question after you get to that peak as the talent on offense begins to deteriorate and he’s making a boatload of money is he capable of elevating the offense to get them back? Question has yet to be answered but it isn’t pretty picture considering we have good talent and he has yet to do it this year.

Lol this kinda stings

I know now is not the time to talk trash, but shouldn't Caleb Williams be in Claire's buying a new shade of polish?

I’m not saying one bad thing about the defense today, even though they had a bad day.

They’re worn out, and probably don’t give a F anymore because they know there’s no hope with this offense and coaching staff.

Not that it’s ok, but these are humans. They are only going to put it all out there for so long with the offense hanging them out to dry like this.

Defense plays like they give a F at least. And plays like they are an actual team that cares about each other. The offense looks like they just quit.

There was a definite sense of "what’s the point” escaping the defense today.

My God -- the defense was on the field for 85 plays?????????? This is like the 2023 Buffalo game (which we won) where the D played over 90 snaps and never recovered.

None of this makes sense. Did they even target Dallas Goedert? There's just nothing to like about this offense. ZERO creativity to get players the ball in space. 1 yard outs to DeVonta Smith. Play action 2 yard passes that generate no separation.

Seeing the Bears run end arounds, Caleb check to a WR screen blocked perfectly. Ugh. The Eagles could never. They'd do both with DeVonta Smith being the target when it's not what he does.

No one’s getting fired so there’s no point. The best you can hope for is a demotion and Patullo goes to the cuck booth

They keep trotting out injured players every week. Just another thing on a team where they change nothing every week but expect things to magically improve.

We don’t need CJGJ to wink to know it.

Anyone who knows high school level football knows this has become a high school level offense.

It’s Sirianni’s Offense and quite frankly …

Drum roll….IT SUCKS.

Sirianni got his guy to become offensive coordinator in the off season and his guy is running Sirianni’s plain Jane, vanilla, high school level offense - same thing that happened back in 2023.

Not that it mattered, but going for 2 instead of the PAT was a bad decision too. Take the points and keep it a one score game. Instead, they failed the 2 point and created a 2 score game. The coaching has been so bad.

The bright side in all this is that Sirianni (without question) will no longer have any say in who his offensive coordinator will be going forward. And the more this nonsense goes on, the more he will become solely a "ceo” type head coach (like he was last season)

I said it last year and also said it this year, it’s not all Kevin Pattulo and Nick Sirianni‘s fault. And it’s not all Jalen hurts his fault. It lies somewhere in between with all of them. how much won’t know until either hurts gets benched or sirianni/patullo are gone.

IMO I do think there is an isssue between Jalen hurts and Nick Sirianni/his offense. I can’t really prove it as I’m not in that locker room or the meetings. but listening to some of the things that Jalen has said then listening to some things that Nick says and some of the rumors that came out that i don’t think it’s as peachy of a relationship as we saw in 2024. I think they work together as they have to but aren’t on the same page with how the offense should look and what’s best for the offense.

Personality wise I think they’re kind of opposites and don’t mesh well. Feels like they clash. Do feel like hurts has more angst towards sirianni than the other way around just based on some things that have come out. I made a bold prediction midway through 2020 that two of the three of Doug, Howie and Carson weren’t going to be back by 2021. I figured howie was very likely to survive because he won them their first Super Bowl and lurie would give him more of a leeway on building the roster. Figured Doug would go first. Then try new HC with wentz and if he failed they’d look for new Qb while testing out hurts. I’m at the point I think by the end of 2026 either Jalen hurts is gonna ask to be traded or Nick Sirianni‘s not gonna be here. Maybe they go on another run this year or next year but if they don’t, I think one of those two guys is not here by 2027.

Serious issue. Sure, get off the field, but the league leading 3 and outs is killing then.

i believe the analytics say to go for it but besides that, i think Elliott missing his last PAT probably played a role in it.

The offense is a disgrace. If Patullo stays play caller then Nick is risking his job

Time for Nick Kotite to fire Patullo. He should nut up as the "leader” of the team and take over play calling for the rest of the year.

God knows we don’t need his CEO skills on the defensive side.

Then, if they still melt down, he gets fired. Hurts gets the first 4 games of next year to see if things improve with the new coach.

If not, bye.

Uh.... I thought we were looking for improvement. Nick isn't that guy.

Last week it was the Cowboys 5 man front. This week we have this.

What exactly are the coaches doing?
