EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

AJ Brown isn't getting separation because he's running the same, predictable routes every NFL team has seen hundreds/thousands of times. Most NFL defenses KNOW WHAT PLAY IS COMING FROM OUR OFFENSE, Do you not understand how incredibly crippling that is for an offense?

And for a guy like AJ Brown who's strengths have always been contested catches/being a very physically dominant receiver, having a predictable offense with predictable routes will be a dagger in your game because AJ was NEVER the type of receiver to get "A TON" of separation but the little he got, with good play design, solid route running, etc was enough to make him elite. This season - the predictable offense has led to him having next to no separation - making him depend almost entirely on his physicality to make plays.

Saquon hasn't "lost a step" - almost the same situation as AJ Brown. Saquon depends on the offensive line to get a "push" - so with a little steam, he usually makes the first guy miss - sometimes much more and he's off to the races. The offensive line is banged up and losing Bechton has hurt the running game but AGAIN when the offense is this predictable - basically running dives, with the most basic run blocking schemes, half the time they run the ball - there is no penetration from the offensive line - and he gets assaulted by 2-3 defenders behind the line of scrimmage, what the heck do you expect him to do? Put on a cape and fly over them? This leads to him never getting into a "rythm or flow" and the plays he would extend an extra 3-5 yards last season no longer get extended, etc

I agree the coaching is laughable on offense but these two guys are slower than they were last yr.

One has a bad hammy and the other tweaked their groin so maybe they aren’t washed but something is holding them back. Age/Injury/Whatever

AJ has become mainly a really good possession receiver and Saquon looks slower than his backup.

Bad OL, Bad QB - that’s a tough combination to work around.

"Bad QB” may ultimately turn out to be true, but I refuse to even go there until we see something that comes close to resembling an actual NFL game plan.

These players have no shot with these numbskull coaches.

Playoffs? There will be no playoffs with this team.

But the game plan is what it is because of the QB.

If so, that’s stupid.

The quarterback has shown plenty of ability under the right circumstances. The coaches are a bunch of ****.

As of right now, I'm still thinking playoffs with a deep run.

Next week is the pivotal week for me. Loose there, and I will know this season is over.

If the quarterback is holding you back so much, then have a pair of nuts and bench him for another quarterback

If they cleaned house and fired both Nick and KP I wouldn’t even care. But neither is happening. The only way KP is gone is if someone signs him as their HC and I don’t think there’s any organization dumb enough to do so.

The reason the circumstances aren't right for the QB is because the RB isn't able to carry the entire offense for him this year. Not because of the coaches.

This QB has never had the right circumstance when his passing was meant to be the engine that makes the offense go.

I wanna live in the world of denial that you are in.

AJ maybe a little with the hammy earlier in the season but he’s already (along with Saquon) have shown that they are both very capable of going over 100 yards when they get into the flow and groove of a game. Unfortunately it’s only happened a handful of times this season.

So 2022 didn’t happen?

Funny how AJ is now getting the ball and they are losing.

This offseason is gonna be interesting.

I’m not gonna sit here and have unreasonable conversations about the quarterback. I’ve already acknowledged he has limitations and quirks.

However, it has absolutely been shown that good coaching can get the best out of him. And his best is good enough to win a Super Bowl.

And he’s the happiest he’s looked all season…

It's not denial at all. I'm saying my eyes are wide open to the possibility that we are done. The edge of the cliff for me comes next week.

I see importance in seeing how the team responds now that there is true adversity. As they're getting closer to losing the division lead, and doing down through playoff seeding.

I care less about a game they had no time to adjust for after the Dallas beat down. I care more about what they look like after a prolonged week of rest, evaluating, and planning. At that point, if it still looks miserable, then Im ready to accept that they aren't just going to be able to turn it on and make a run.

In 2023, I was convinced that Sirianni had lost the locker room and I wanted him removed because of it. Last year, there were still concerns.

What I watched yesterday was complete dysfunction...basic execution, actions of undisciplined players, mistakes at the most mechanical foundational levels...all happening with all three units at the same time. That is pretty hard to accomplish...

This is much more than one player or one unit....it is a complete breakdown...I don't think the Eagles can continue with Sirianni. The issue is finding the right replacement. The FO needs to have a solid plan already in place before the heads are lopped off...

I’m done. Nick should have taken over play calling as a show of leadership to his sinking ship.

There is a way to even do it where Kevin maintains his dignity in the process. But Nick is too big of a coward to make the necessary changes players and coaching wise.

His leadership is weak.

Is that a call that the OC/HC can make less than one season after a ‘SB MVP’ performance? A lot of $ and prestige involved…

I’ve officially made the full conversion from Aniken to Vader.

Probably not the way you remember it. Jalen Hurts only the threw 22 TDs. He rushed for over 700, and another 13 TDs on the ground.

His RB averaged 5 yards a carry on the season.

His passing was not a focal point. His legs, and the success of the run game opened everything up for that offense.

Yes, he passed for more yards than ever. That was his first year as the full time starter. Hurts, as well as an RPO offense were pretty new things for defenses to defend. And we also ran a ton more read option. OL was still dominant as well.

Defenses adjusted to RPOs by now. Hurts runs less, and is far less effective at it when he does. And his OL is old and beat up so he's not supported by the ground game like he has always needed, including in 2022. That's not the coaches fault. It's not for their lack of trying.

It happened exactly how I remember it. A balanced effective offense that went all the way to the Super Bowl. It did not require a superhuman running back to carry the team.

The quarterback was allowed to play free without handcuffs or straight jacket.

The head coach stayed the F out of the way

I just explained his magical season, but put another way, that's an outlier season. Doesn't really prove anything.

To say what you're saying also puts a knock on Kellen Moore, who didn't get that kind of season out of Hurts, but still coached us to a super bowl.

The opportunity to catch the league by surprise has ended with that magical season. Where he still three for less than 4000 yards and only 22 TDs. No coach is doing that with Hurts ever again.
