EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

We heard 2 different players at the end of the game say "We went 4-2, then we went 4-2, now it’s time to win 4.”

That’s coming from Sirianni. He’s not learning from this. He clearly thinks what’s happening are the natural ebbs and flows of a season, and that no changes need to be made on the staff. This has to be a Lurie/Howie decision, it’s NEVER coming from Sirianni.

That maybe be true and I don't see Sirriani with answers but I don't think you can really read too much into player postgame quotes

If they miss the playoffs, Lurie absolutely has to can Sirianni. There isn’t even a debate. You can’t let optics get in the way, and I’m someone who was adamantly opposed to firing Sirianni after 2023 because of the optics and concern they’d be able to attract a quality candidate after firing Doug and Sirianni so quickly after Super Bowls.

Only if they actually let him know so he doesn't, for the exact same optics, continue to trot Hurts out there when it's a large part of why he can't just sit Patullo down and do it himself. Frankly, I'm just fed up. This just keeps going and going. Fire Sirianni if this, fire Sirianni if that, fire him the first time he misses the playoffs, I guess that's the one time you might as well!

They really should just can him, not even because he deserves it, but because the city is absolutely insufferable with this guy as the head coach, because people really really hate him. They go out of their way to insist all the biggest mistakes on the team are from Sirianni, everything good comes from literally anyone else, and down years are utterly unacceptable in any circumstance (a down year must be divisional round, basically).

I miss the days where Eagles fans were just annoying. No, I'm not specifically talking about you, I'm talking about the fanbase in general.

Isn’t winning the point?

And if we lose out we're 8-9 and not winning

I preface this saying the biggest issue on the team is Patullo/Nick.

At the same time, if Jalen Hurts doesn't want to run we should trade him this off-season. And if he doesn't want to be traded, bench him all of 2026 and play McKee. I've been a Jalen defender. Is he perfect? Of course not. But his plus are massive strengths (deep balls, helping the RB run game, general turnover avoidance and QB runs). If he loses the QB run game? Then we have an expensive QB who not only doesn't run enough himself, BUT also doesn't help the RB run game as much as he should. And suddenly a top 10 QB is what... a top 20 QB? No thanks.

I get that the QB doesn't want to get hit that much or miss games. But removing what makes him special is not tenable.

Yeah. Hurts not wanting to be used in the run game shows a lack of self awareness. He is not a traditional drop back QB. I said it even as far back as his first year with Nick. His game will not age well because he doesn’t have a big arm, isn’t particularly accurate, isn’t a pure anticipation passer. So if you take away his +1 in the run game, he isn’t providing an advantage.

I know the plan was to trade McKee this offseason but if internally they have questions about Hurts, they have to keep him next year just for optionality.

To my deepest regret, I checked in on Reddit last night before bed which I try to do only like once a month because of how much I hate that site. I have no idea how anybody could ever use that hell site. It's a cesspool. The entire Eagles sub is just 50 FIRE PATULLO posts with the occasional post that will try to offer a more nuanced take talking about someone else doing a poor job, which are all downvoted to 0. A bunch of 12 year olds on there or adult neanderthals foaming at the mouth over Patullo.

It is nuts at this point with both Sirriani & Hurts.

2021 - "You can't win with Sirriani/Hurts." They make playoffs

2022 - "Well then you can't make SB with Sirriani/Hurts." They make SB

2024 - "Last year sucked. You'll never win SB with Sirriani//Hurts" Win SB with Sirriani/Hurts

2025 - Bad year. See we were right all along. Fire everyone

Grade 3 hamstring tear. I’m curious if he tore it after agreeing to come back or what. That is McCown’s injury against Seattle in the playoffs.

Sirianni has literally lied and been revealed to lie to take the blame for players. Do you seriously believe he wouldn't do the same for his own coaching staff?

I'm so tired of Eagles fans, man. Look.

WHEN YOU HAVE A GUY WHO MAKES A MIDSEASON CHANGE TO TRY TO RIGHT THE SHIP, AND THE ONLY THING IT DOES IS MAKE PEOPLE CALL FOR HIS JOB MORE, HE'S GOING TO BE SKITTISH ABOUT MAKING MORE MIDSEASON CHANGES FOR THE EXACT SAME REASON.

Everybody who acts like 2023 was the worst season they've ever experienced (It wasn't, unless you're like 20), and all woe is me worst thing ever man we hate him so much, fire him, because literally all of you thanks to the Super Bowl victory in 2018 forgot what it feels like to ACTUALLY have a TRULY bad season (Doug, who almost won three times LESS games than Doug did in that season), it's literally those people. Nick tried that in 2023, got absolutely obliterated for it, people calling it a 'scapegoat change' and putting that on Sirianni too, no Fing wonder he's hesitant to change it.

But Eagles fans are like 90% emotion, so does anyone expect them to figure that out? Nope, because it involves maybe realizing they aren't helping, go figure.

That’s the annoying part. For how bad Patullo is there are some plays like this with multiple people open and we just blow it

Imagine if he was just walking around with that thing because he’s used to pain

I never realized how bad that place was until last week when someone sent me a link about a Ding/Dong ditch that happened in the neighborhood and literally 50 people commented in minutes. Like what kind of loser is sitting around their house all day to comment on something like that. Not just comment but share their life philosophies. Sad times.

The firing stuff has us rolling at the house. Nobody is going to fire Siri when he is 8-4 coming off a domination SB win and is the top coach in wins for the past 4 years. That’s first, second nobody is benching or trading Hurts when he was SB MVP last season and is 8-4. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

I get being mad, I’m mad but let’s get in reality here.

Hurts is not throwing the football at a level compatible with a starting NFL QB.

Patullo is making terrible decisions with routes, play calls, and offensive design.

The OL is terribly regressed from last year.

All can be true. I just feel like the sentiment out there is everyone picks one of these things and tries to pretend that the other 2 would be fine otherwise.

Sure, it’s possible to win with Sirianni. Over the past 2.5 years have you seen a head coach who gets the most out of his team on a week to week basis?

I understand his winning percentage and we won the Super Bowl with him as the coach, so my argument is a harder one to make. I don’t think he is anything better than an average head coach propped up by a talented roster. I don’t think his gameday decisions are good or even consistent. Sometimes he’s process oriented and sometimes it’s like, well it worked this one time so why the hell not? We aren’t detail oriented, at least not offensively. He has no answers when things go badly. He needs others to make the fixes for him.

I’m fully convinced we are in full 2023 spiral. So much so that I’d be shocked if we still even hold on to win the division at this point.

And if that holds true, I genuinely want Sirriani gone. Hurts can play the first 4 games next year under new leadership, and if he isn’t better, he can go too.

Although, I firmly believe that he would be better with a real offensive coach. He will always have quirks and some limitations, but he is not this bad.

It’s not a spiral - it’s simply when coaching is too bad and hamstrings the talent because it’s predictable.

It's rough. I've been an Eagles fan all my life and always defended the fanbase. And I sincerely believed that maybe if they got about three SB wins in 10 years, they'd mature a little and be less obnoxious. But it started with the national media talking bad about Hurts and some of the fanbase defending him like their first born child, and then ended up with the absolute psycho behavior and entitlement to the idea that the team should basically be a dynasty.

...Be a dynasty after they were so sure prior that Hurts AND Sirianni weren't the answer. I'm just so tired. It's exhausting. If the board was closer, I'd say we really need to do reruns of the 90's and 80's Eagles teams with anyone and everyone we can, so some of the more entitled fans remember and understand what suffering is truly like, because this PTSD over 2023 ain't it.

This is the most brutal schedule one could imagine and the bears just won 9 of 10. I had us at best case around 8-4 at this point going into the season.

You will be rolling on the floor when this teams gets mopped in the second round of the playoffs..."Never saw this coming, 8-4 earlier in the year coming off a super bowl with am MVP QB, how did this happen?" Get ahead of the curve dude.

It's because the mods are absolute crap and don't consolidate topics. They don't go 'oh maybe since there's so many of these, we should add them together', they go, literally, 'WELL IF WE CONSOLIDATE TOPICS INTO A STICKY THERE WON'T BE ANYTHING TO TALK ABOUT!!!"

It's insufferable. It's not even the site, it's that the sub has the absolute worst garbage as mods. Terrible.

I believe that Sirianni is a terrible offensive coach and a coach in general who's been out of answers for two years. His bacon was saved last year when they had the best rushing season ever and the best Eagles defense ever. But now that those two aspects have fallen off, he's back to being exposed again.

Jalen Hurts has been bad lately, but we've all watched enough football to see QBs start to falter when the coaching around them suffers. Caleb Williams last season looked awful. Now look at him.

Look at Daniel Jones this year with Steichen.

Look at Mac Jones with Shanahan.

Sirianni offers no tangible edge when it comes to coaching. He's not elevating players and making them look good. He's a personality manager. Let's just call it for what it is.
