Tell that to the coaches. There's only two reasons the offense is so vanilla. Either they think Hurts can't run a more diverse offense or they're stupid. But either way they're stupid because they need to give him an opportunity to do it. The offense is bottom 5 in the league. How much worse can it get if they try new stuff and Hurts sucks at it.

Yes. I lean that they are stupid and stubborn. Predicated on not turning the ball over. Ever! Thus, they become predictable and stop themselves. It's like playing the prevent defense on offense. It worked for awhile, not now and it's time to move on. They got the horses, which is why it's frustrating. This year the evaluation and assessment of the team has been lacking. I.e. no Tank on offense. Using GC in 11 formations, as a blocker. Many things across the board. And Howie as well, missing alot on personnel decisions. And now we are here.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

IIRC, there were reports that Wentz refused to run plays as called or go through progressions (Sproles comments) as he just fed Ertz. At least as of now, we don't have reports of Jalen refusing to run plays as called. Maybe that comes out some day, but seems unlikely given Hurts' personality (son of a coach).

I would agree that it's unlikely, besides end of game scenarios because we've seen it already he'll go off script.

I don't think he's refusing to do anything conceptually. I think it's just more an offseason thing when they are installing the offense. Hurts tells them what he likes/prefers, the coaches take that into consideration building the offense and the results are the results.

It makes no sense to me that Hurts can throw over the middle well at times or play well under center but the coaches just refuse to do it. We see there are routes utilizing the middle of the field and the ball doesn't go there. The likely explanation to me is Hurts doesn't necessarily like either and the coaches are going too far to appease him. It's the coaches fault ultimately but I don't think Hurts is without blame in the construction of the offense.

The true collapse of Wentz wasn't until 2020 -- in 2019 he dragged a terrible group of weapons to the playoffs. Some combination of the concussion and the team drafting Hurts made Wentz not just regress but completely collapse. His QB rating went from 93.1 in 2019 (101.9 in 2017 and 102.2 in 2018) to 72.8 in 2020. He was 16TDs and 15 INTs in 2020 after being 27/7, 21/7 and 33/7 the 3 years prior.

It wasn't not wanting to run the "Foles stuff." It was completely forgetting how to play QB.

IMO:

2017 Wentz: exceptional

2018 Wentz: very good

2019 Wentz: meh

2020 Wentz: wrong side of the cliff

Seems like communication between Hurts, Nick, and KP is horrible

If Hurts is the reason then why aren't they forcing him?

If KP/Nick is the reason then why isn't Hurts telling them to change it? If he is and they're ignoring it then why isn't he going to Howie/Lurie?

I've wondered how those team meetings are when they go over plays. They don't see the offense being predictable that everyone else is able to see?

Foles had a recommendation on his show to put Patullo back up in the box so he can call games there and get a better perspective of the offense. It's where he's always been previously as a passing game coordinator. I don't how how/if that changes things, but maybe they can start there if they're not going to get rid of him.

Because that's a slippery slope. You become "uncoachable" at that point.

Nick says they're looking at everything including scheme. We'll see what actual changes are implemented come Monday.

Not hiring an OC that has tenure and stature this offseason, will be the largest gaffe of them all. Makes sense, with having a seasoned veteran type of offense that should be running like a well oiled machine. They finally realized this on defense when hiring Fangio. Patullo has no clout, experience and doesn't command the respect of the offense. In a nutshell, needed an alpha type leader with some kind of winning pedigree. They could use some tough love. This is a softee type dude. In essence, this falls on Sirianni. Of course, Howie as well. The Brian Johnson experiment should never ever be revisited with unproven types. Didn't learn...

Tonight is the Hard Knocks NFCE debut episode, btw.

Going to the GM and Owner and telling them that their HC/OC wont open up the playbook makes the QB uncoachable? How so?

Seems fair...

People often forget that. Early in 2021 fans were constantly complaining about the play calling from Nick Sirianni, especially wanting to run the ball more. He handed play calling to Steichen and the offense took off.

I dont know if the offense took off. All they really did was run the ball more including Hurts using his legs.

When they added AJ the next year the pass game got better but nothing like the greatest show on turf or anything like that.

One thing that people dont talk about enough is that Steichen was the only OC he had for more than 1 year. Steichen first year the offense wasn't great they just ran the ball more like I said. They got rid of Brian Johnson after 1 year. Moore left after 1 year. Patullo is going to be replaced most likely after 1 year.

I can almost guarantee after Steichen 1st year there were people calling for him to be fired. Imagine if they did instead of giving him another year with Hurts.

Fans want us to just hire a Sean McVay or Kyle Shanahan type HC who calls plays and has his own offense so we dont have to worry about play callers leaving after some success. Problem is these guys dont grow on trees. Even if they did hire an offensive play caller HC, there's no guarantee he'd work out. Shanahan hasn't won anything. McVay has just as many SBs as Sirianni. Only one who has multiple is Reid and he has one of the greatest QBs ever who btw is known for improvising and making spectacular plays on his own.

Eggs, fine. It was stupid but pranks happen. I'm worried now that someone confirmed it that someone crazy will burn his house down. Then we'll have to rally around him and denounce mental health instead of firing him.

Recording it and putting it up on social media for the entire world to see is the worst part, but that's the world we live in now where everything needs to be broadcasted. I felt embarrassed when I saw that story. His wife and kids shouldn't have to be scared to walk out the front door now that everyone knows what his house looks like and how many psychos exist out there. I love and support all Philadelphia teams, but I've always had a problem with a lot of the fanbase and I think a significant portion have become entitled with the success that this team has had.

I'd add Davis with gas tank on empty or something and BG as over the hill

Goedert has been fine. And not injured. Much. That's novel.

Everybody here was ready to pay Davis $20-25M a year here. Just a few short weeks ago. I'm not on that train either. Gonna have to pay the elite ones only, which hopefully is Carter (depending on the crazy contract. I think I wait on him for this offseason, giving the bag too early could be an error, unless it's for a nice discount. Keep him hungry.) Then Coop & Q are the current locks for major extensions. Presumably in 2027 offseason. Regardless of price.

Davis isn't on offense.

He was also the only DT worth a damn against Chicago.

The way I see it. Davis's strength is to stop the run. And he does not do that consistently. Hasn't really improved enough as a pass rusher with the increased snap count this year. I'm willing to wait for a better bargain for maybe $15M after 5th year. That's it.

The GM and owner are not football people; they're organizational executives. As a player, you (through the agent) go to the GM to discuss contracts, and you don't go to the owner at all unless the owner requests a meeting or asks you a direct question. Any on-field related questions go to the coaches.

I don't think you want a team culture where Howie or Lurie is telling the head coach that he needs to run certain plays because a player complained.

Yea I was adding others from the team

I'm hoping they move on though

Even if that player if the franchise QB?

Think it may also help him getting the play call in faster as he can see the defensive personnel himself as opposed to relying on someone to tell him and he doesnt have all the distractions of being on the sidelines. The other important point is that BDN made was that he will allow him to get away from the emotions of the game.
