Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

PSU is lucky he's staying. Don't like that guy.

Reed isn’t as bad as that, and I think they’re are some legitimate reasons why he is having a down year… but yeah, he isn’t playing ‘good’ which hurts in a contract year (not that I see him pressing, etc.).

Reed is poor in pass coverage. He is good with run support and roaming about 15-20 yards from the LOS.

Compared to this. Yes. But he wasn't good when he was good. Our standards are pretty low right now at CB2 and Safety 2. So there's that angle.

PSU is a good paying job, but not necessarily a good job. They are going to have to hire a boring retread or start look at the top coaches in the Patriot League.

Honestly, on a vet minimum deal, bring Slay home. Not like we have a ton of great CB2 options. He's most likely washed, but if it costs nothing, do it.

At the very least, get Jenn Slay back here!

I’m very interested to see if Epps plays and plays well enough - as I expect Howie to sign a low cost vet like Epps to pair with Mukuba in 2026 while Vic trains up another Day 2 pick.

How did Indiana find Cignetti? Not sure what conference James Madison is in…

I think when they are winning and invested a quarter of a billion dollars into the guy, yea, he has a lot of power.

There are also a lot of steps missing in the previous examples that we aren't currently at yet. McNabb and Wentz both played poorly over sustained stretches, were benched at some point, and then eventually shipped away. Reid and Doug had disastrous stretches of bad football, given different options to turn it around but didn't, and then were moved off of.

If Hurts continues to play poorly and they are losing for streches, you will start to see the front office and Lurie taking more control of what they think the offense should be and it will be up to Hurts to adjust. If not, they will ship him off like Wentz and McNabb.

I don't think trading for Pickett before last season was entirely about having a back up. It's also why they will be hesitant to trade McKee this offseason. The team knows they can win with a combination of Sirianni and Hurts. They are not going to move on from either after not repeating. I think it's highly unlikely Patullo will be back.

Did we sign Slay yet? He might have lost a step or whatever but I'm sure he's better than what we have at CB2 now. A stop sign might be better than what we have at cb2 now.

Howie was just waiting on word from you.

24 hr period for waiver claims. We will know by tomorrow evening if anyone one put a claim in. There's really only a couple teams who are in the hunt and realistic. Think it's between Lions & Eagles. Eagles have the better record, so Lions could spoil this. But Slay and agent would have to give them an inkling before they even bothered I'm sure. He could always threaten a team and say he was retiring if he was claimed. Has very little salary left, so I think he will control the script here.

Slay is a better outside corner (this year) than anyone not named Mitchell on the Eagles.

Offense is severely suffering from lack of Banana Pudding.

Epps is a JAG, in my opinion. Since we play with 5 dbs most of the game, 3/5 of our defensive backfield is mediocre or worse.

It makes too much sense.

Slay may be washed, but so was Jaire Alexander. And the question with ALexander was never "is he washed?" It was, can a once elite washed player with their veteran instincts play within Vic's system and be better than Jackson/Bennett/Ringo. They traded for Alexander because they thought the answer might be yes. And with Slay, who has vast experience in this defense, they chance is just as good that they get a positive result.

He hasn't been playing, so he'll probably come in refreshed and with an emotional boost. He doesn't need to be good. He just needs to be better than Jackson.

OK here's a grenade for me to lob into the blog. Honestly, the Hurts vs. Patullo vs. Siri vs. OL debate has run its course and is stale. We all have our own opinions which have been substantiated and attacked...and no one is changing them until one variable is changed and the others then succeed or fail downstream of that. So let's move on.

Here's the grenade. What message does it send to the young players on this team competing for playing time that Brandon Graham is getting snaps as the #4 edge in the rotation? The guy is the slowest player on an entire defense that includes 3 enormous DTs. He's overweight, out of shape, and repeatedly standing up looking lost trying to set the edge. And forget about actually generating a rush. He looks exactly like a 37 year old retired edge out there.

Its a minimal number of snaps though - don't think it will be having a big demoralising impact on the team.

But I agree though in that I don't think BG has looked good out there. Not exactly surprising - he is very much in the 'playing himself into shape' phase and the hope is as that happens towards the end of the year, his play lifts and he becomes a contributor
