EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

So would Slay need to go through waivers or not? I've seen conflicting info. One saying he doesn't need to clear waivers as a vet, but others saying he needs to clear since it's past the trade deadline.

I think it's a no brainer to at least bring him in for a workout. Usually I favor consistency, particularly for OL and DB, even if there might be a more talented player available.

But with Slays familiarity in the scheme and our blatant need for depth, I think they have to kick the tires and see what he has left

Only thing I’d argue is the first 24 mins of tha game eagles defense was their ow worse enemy. Couldn’t get off the field and gave eagles 2 possessions. One of which eagles were productive and moved down the field for a field goal.

Marcus Epps has Andrew Sendejo live fire disease, but has starting experience across multiple teams. Brown is a just there. With Slay being released, I can see him being happy to be back and likely realising that this is it for his career now. So a few games in a team he clearly likes makes a ton of sense. If he's worse than Ringo and Jackson, then he gets released and everyone moves on

Did you miss the part where Sydney Brown took out our starting safety?

If he clears waivers, bring him back!

Some interesting prospects

I think there’s a chance he doesn’t clear waivers. I look at a team like Detroit that has a ton of secondary issues. If they claim him, he’s not gonna tell him he won’t show up. He’s talked about and even this off-season said he wouldn’t mind going back to Detroit to finish his career. I think that’s the team you really have to worry about. Cause I could totally see them pulling the trigger just based off how bad of shape that secondary is and he would be open to going back to Detroit.

Yeah it’s hard for me to feel bad for them when they started off by giving up a million yards in the first quarter.

Overall they have obviously been the much better unit but the last couple weeks they just can’t get off the field, especially on the ground.

The mini bye should help if they are that tired hopefully.

Brown is all gas no brakes which I respect to a certain degree except when you take out a fellow player. I swear he came in like a heat seeking missile and collided with Mukuba on the play where Mukuba fractured his ankle but I can't find the play.

It was like the play where he trucked the gunner badly but then let up and the gunner end up causing a fumble. I appreciate the physicality but the result just isn't there.

I mean that wasn’t his intention. He was trying to make a tackle. That can happen to anyone on any play.

But yes, he sucks

Hopefully we can sign slay and cut Jackson. No reason for that scrub to play anymore downs in any capacity for this team

DET plays a ton of man coverage, is Slay still that guy (maybe). The scheme here is slightly more forgiving, but we’ve played a lot more man here this season but can give him more help with Q on the other side.

I get they might’ve been tired on the short week and playing the amount of snaps, they did the previous couple weeks. But the first 24 minutes by the defense, kind of set the tone. And it when you rewatch the game just weren’t the aggressor. The weren’t physical at the point of attack. They were letting the Bears get to them and just move them for the most part outside of the 4th and 1 stop in the first 24 mins.

love ojomo but was not good against the run vs. the bears. Even Jalen Carter was getting handled. He looked either fatigued, hurt or just disinterested. young was terrible that entire game. they had him playing 34 snaps. I get why because it was a short week but he was bad and 34 snaps for a guy that bad is not good. It wasn’t just a defensive line either our linebackers had issues getting off blocks and our safeties particularly brown took horrible angles to the ball carrier.

Imo I thought Sheil in his podcast and Evan Moore in the foles podcast said two things i saw. On shiel, I thought he was correct when you watched the offense it looks like guys are all on different pages. Like mailata tripping our guy in motion. Or Barkley not knowing the ball was coming first play out of the half. Or the 2 point conversion poorly executed. Furthermore, talking about how Dallas goedert has really regressed as a pass blocker. When you watch that game, CJGJ owned him on one of those plays. Just destroyed him. then he gave them the two small sign. I like Dallas goedert, but he hasn’t been close to the blocker he was a couple years ago. Some of its older and wear but feels like he might be trying to stay healthy for FA.

As for Moore’s point, I also found it discouraging that the body language of guys on offense and I can’t say whether or not guys are disinterested or not. But when you go back and watch it, it feels like they are lost and mentally not all bought in. Last year they wanted to pound you into the ground and make you feel their physicality for 4 quarters. That even if they lost, you were going to feel it the next week.

This would be a moot point, if Bennett could get on the field - but Adoree is settling in and he’s an afterthought.

I don’t think he is that guy. But then go look at what the outside corners for the Lions have right now, it’s not great. I think slay would be willing to go back and play there. the fact that they just need a corner that has experience, they might claim him. If I were slay, I’d be asking everybody in the league to not claim him. So he can make a decision on where he wants to go as it’s going to be his last year in the league. I’m not so sure the NFL is going to be accommodating to him.

Yeah whatever happened with that? Thought I heard he was ready to go but then we’ve still never seen him.

He is still a liability. He’s worse than the year we had fletcher and Carey Williams

I guess I’ve only really watch DET vs the Eagles, and Rock and DJ Reed battled - so I give them maybe more credit than I should.

He’s also going to be super cheap. From Jimmy kempski if he’s claimed

he signed with Pittsburgh on a one-year deal worth $10 million, roughly $8.75 million of which was paid as a signing bonus. If another team claims him on waivers, they will only be on the hook for the unpaid portion of his roughly $1.25 million salary. He will be extremely cheap.

Some other team is claiming him. Lot of teams need CB help and I doubt they want him going back to the Eagles.

The NFC East Hard Knocks made me feel a little better about some of the stuff with communication. I didn’t get the vibe at all that anyone was panicking or that there was a wall between the QB and the rest of the team.

Seemed more like "F man my bad”

Which isn’t great, because you don’t want the mistakes in the first place, but it’s better than having your franchise QB sitting by himself in the corner polishing his Jordan logo and not giving a crap.

I guess it just felt like a better vibe than a total collapse. Low bar but I’ll take it.

Absolutely nothing we know or have seen about Hurts would indicate he would be this type of person.

At its core, this is Siriannis offense and his concepts, and it really doesn't matter who's calling plays. Yes, Hurts has some input and the coaches will try to incorporate it into the offense.

2023 Siri was told to kick rocks or bring in "fresh ideas", because his sucked. Kellen Moore comes in, and we see an offense get better and bring in different wrinkles every week. Those fresh ideas left with him, because Siri and KP have clearly retained zero of it.

The players don't seem bought in this year and we have heard multiple players call out the offense and coaches. The players can only do so much, its up to the coaches to get the most out of them.
