EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

OK here's a grenade for me to lob into the blog. Honestly, the Hurts vs. Patullo vs. Siri vs. OL debate has run its course and is stale. We all have our own opinions which have been substantiated and attacked...and no one is changing them until one variable is changed and the others then succeed or fail downstream of that. So let's move on.

Here's the grenade. What message does it send to the young players on this team competing for playing time that Brandon Graham is getting snaps as the #4 edge in the rotation? The guy is the slowest player on an entire defense that includes 3 enormous DTs. He's overweight, out of shape, and repeatedly standing up looking lost trying to set the edge. And forget about actually generating a rush. He looks exactly like a 37 year old retired edge out there.

Graham only had 6 snaps in the game. I don't think that is impacting younger players. I do think there is an over reliance on players. The lack of rotation is a big problem given how many snaps they have been on the field. Playing Dean over Campbell the entire game makes no sense. Campbell would have played better than Dean. Dean is great if he knows what the play is but he struggles with change of direction and lateral motion. The motion and misdirection made both Dean and Baun non-factors in run defense. Not rotating in Campbell or playing all 3 makes no sense. Also, why isn't Ty Robinson getting some rotational play at this point.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Also, there's really no young edge that BG is taking snaps from. Uche is probably the guy who lost out, and while he may be better, it's not like he is developing.

That's been the most gross negligence by this coaching staff. By overworking Carter, who is playing with a bum shoulder. Got to rotate or you lose Carter for the season and playoffs and he gives you nothing. Also, Davis and Ojomo are playing more snaps than ever. Robinson and/or Hall should be in the lineup more. Booker loss hurts here.

It would be problematic even if the defense was not playing the snaps they are playing. It's worse because of the snap count and because Carter hasn't played well at all. He was getting blown off the ball most of the game.

Some interesting prospects

I doubt it'll happen but they should just move away from 12 and 13 personnel

Well if it isn't healed by now, wonder if it needs surgery after the season.

Interesting to happen during a contract year

lines up with what I thought before Dean came back. Campbell wasn’t doing a great job against the run. That when Dean came back that he’d take over thy area cause he was more experienced and better at it

They would have given up 9484774737347 yards on the ground with Campbell in instead of the 87374774737373 yard they gave up with Dean.

That came from someone with the team according to Gunn and others, not Eagles fans.

I was responding to that.

That was a quote Gunn said an Eagles player said about Jalen? Do you have that link? The Gunn quote that I recall from a couple weeks ago was that there are people in the organization frustrated with Jalen's passing.

Dean didn't exactly make a difference in the run game vs the Bears.

Hope Vic figures something out because the Chargers will probably try to do the same.

We don't need to think, we all know what's going on and we all know it's true. They are the NFL's golden boy franchise, it'll always be this way.

The 2nd half against us was ridiculous. Wiped out our big plays on offense and gave them big plays/drive sustaining penalties. You'd think Dallas is so great their offensive line never holds nor do their all world DBs.

Yeah, blaming the refs can be a bad look but that was absolutely ridiculous. Handed Dallas the game.

Hampton coming back with Vidal and Herbert and a broken non throwing hand. Yea, they are running all game long.

I can’t find the link now sorry but it was during that second wave of Hurts stuff. First it was Russinni with the "sources with the team say that players are frustrated with Jalen not making the right reads when facing zone” or whatever and then there was the second wave when D Gunn came out and said the stuff about Hurts. Seth also said something about it.

I don’t remember exactly who said it but somewhere in there was reports of someone with the teams saying Jalen was basically a little big for his britches with his Jordan brand stuff blah blah blah

Almost positive it was Gunn, or Seth saying he heard it from Gunn the next day.

In fairness since Dean came back their run defense had been better since inserting Dean more over Campbell (prior to bears game). I think that’s what Vic was alluding too

All I've seen from Joyner and Gunn is about his passing and the idea that he does his own game, not what the coaches call. They used words "frustration" and Joyner said "consternation." I haven't seen anything about the Jordan brand. Again, nothing we know about Hurts lines up with that.

The Eagles deserve all the blame in the world for blowing that game. But also if it's called fairly, the Eagles win that game. Eagles got screwed vs the Bears too.

Philly sports media have the same schtick as some of the posters in here and it’s just to get clicks and ignorant listeners

Agree, but it’s not the first time this has happened. There were the "he has a big head now because of his contract” leaks after 2022 or 2023, whenever that was.

I’m not a Hurts hater at all, but apparently he’s rubbed a couple people the wrong way over the years. It happens.
