They also opened a spot on the PS yesterday, so I'm thinking he probably goes there first.

It was broken and it needed surgery to reduce so it heals correctly. If he had it surgically fixated, further injury makes the surgery ineffective. Maybe the risk is so low that it's a non-issue but I would have to think there's a risk impact to the site would move the hardware and delay healing.
