I’ve noticed on Twitter that lions fans talk a lot of crap for a fam base that has yet to see their team in the Super Bowl and the thing they are best known in the Super Bowl era is really losing and going 0-16

The Lions aren’t even in first place in their division

Stay strong folks…

Also, why the f would you post that TMZ link…such a horrid and out of touch organization with no dignity and respect for others.

Well, he has a point because the Eagles are so notoriously bad at keeping homegrown talent.

Eh, when it is suicide, it means they have been suffering for a long time. If it was something quick like an accident, yeah it’s tragic, but you know they weren’t in pain for months/years.

I’ve lost several friends to suicide and it always seems to hit harder.

I was thinking more of it being something preventable as opposed to someone just mugging him or cancer or something

How could he have cpoe already, he’s still in his mid 20’s

Yeah. Big reason why it hits harder. Those that are left behind tend to blame themselves.

They were never planning on keeping either. Frankly sweat was going on his 3rd contract. They were never going down that road with him with his knee issue.

Fundamental issue with this conversation is Jameson Williams wasn’t the third best DT on his team and looking for 26m$ a year, and he wasn’t a 6.5 sack DE looking for 19m$ a year who also had a 1st and 3rd round prospect vying for his job

Phillips isn’t replacing Sweat, he’s being added to a now fairly robust rotation. Way different than DET giving Hollywood Jameson’s snaps

Hes a cowboys fan from Georgia, but a bunch of his biggest career moments coincidentally happened when the show was in Philadelphia, so he’s recognized it’s sort of become his professional home turf

Is it a coincidence if it's scripted?

I think Sweat was always gone. They had already cut his contract. He was too up and down to guarantee a long term deal. Good for him for putting it together (so far he’s streaky).

I think they would have liked to keep Milton but not re-signing guys early hurt in the case and Baun’s emergence made the cap fit harder. Sometimes you lose one. They all have rings

Just saw the Kneeland news. What an absolute tragedy for anyone, but especially for someone so young. I have lost friends to many things, but I cannot imagine what I'd feel if a loved one took their own life.

If any of you are having a hard time, please talk with someone.

I know- it was a dumb analogy by the Lions fan. Holding up the Lions as some model organization that keeps young talent when the same owner has had 2 generational talents retire early seems absurd. The Eagles have routinely for the last 26 seasons have re-signed and kept talent early because of Lurie. Additionally, as you point out it would have been Sweat's third contract so it's not the same as Jameson. Finally, what have the Lions won?

They actively tried to trade him. There's really not much coming back from that for more than a year. Kinda why I think Goedert is likely walking next year.

Scripted events yeah, but timing just worked out that the long form storytelling culminated in the same city a few times in a row

Imo on Williams they would’ve liked to keep him. But when he developed into what he did his last year here and in the postseason, they knew he wasn’t gonna extend here. He even said he was going for the money. They would’ve had to extend him before last year in order to get that contract done because there was no way in season or after the postseason he was come back unless they overpaid. Which frankly weren’t going to do with future contracts they have coming up

I feel like there was a guy on the Eagles that did this exact same thing as Koy, but in a Super Bowl against Tom Brady and the Patriots. And yet still saw the bench eventually…

Difference is Wentz was on his way to being league MVP before he was injured and McNabb was struggling with the same offe sive weapons that Koy Detmer lit up the 49ers with.

Losing good players is the unfortunate consequence of drafting well (and less often hitting big on FAs like Baun). It is what it is.

Milton Williams is probably a player the Eagles would’ve liked to sign after last year. But the way he played in the playoffs and how he looked last year along with he was so close to free agency and there was a lot of money in a poor free agency Class they probably knew he wasn’t coming back. Furthermore, they weren’t gonna give them a contract before last year because he had been solid not great. frankly, they had Ojomo who they liked to step up into a bigger role and Jordan Davis to get more snaps in replacing him. I loved Milton Williams, but I think the Eagles even after last year viewed him as more expendable, and they could save the money there and put it elsewhere in the future.

As for the lions, they have three playoff victories in the Super Bowl era. They made it to the NFC championship game twice and five division titles in the Super Bowl era. The thing they’re best known for is last 60 years is going 0–16, forcing Barry Sanders and Megatron to retire early.

Trade him to the Jets for 3 first round picks.

What a sad sad morning. Peace to Marshawn and all those who will be affected by his death. Tell your loved ones you love them every chance you get and remember you are loved and important to someone.

I think you're right and good for Williams for playing well enough to get paid. They also had restructured Sweat and were willing to trade either him or Reddick before the season.

Mcnabb before he got hurt had the eagles at 7-3 with 17 tds, 6 ints and 6 rushing tds. Add on was a 3 game stretch eagles scored 37,44 and 35 points with mcnabb. And mcnabb and the offense scored 38 the previous week on a broken ankle. Add on mcnabb won 4 of his previous 5 starts before getting hurt. Mcnabb was an mvp candidate 2 seasons prior and on his way to a pro bowl caliber season before he got hurt. He was on pace for 27 passing tds and 10 rushing and 10 ints, 736 rushing yards and 3662 passing yards

Let’s not pretend mcnabb wasn’t their franchise Qb and not coming off 2 really good seasons and on pace for 37 tds to 10 int ratio with over 4400 total yards before his injury and detmer even if he continued to play well was replacing him. Wentz had proven less than mcnabb in his career when foles went on his run (did it 2x)

Our local Farmers Market has a Flat Earth booth every Saturday. I shake my head every time I walk past it. It takes all kinds to make the World go round.

Some people are proud of their ignorance. People knew the earth was spherical in the sixth century BC. That’s right, 600 years before Christ. I blame bad elementary "history” books that presented that before Columbus, folks thought the earth was flat. Actually they knew the earth was round, the horizon proves that. Columbus thought that sailing west would be closer. What wasn’t established was the circumference.

We know that the western hemisphere was known of but not widely. Not just because of the western land bridge, which disappeared in prehistory, but also suggestions of Polynesian immigration, the great China fleet, possibly Japanese migration, possibly the Phoenicians (who were prolific sailors like the Polynesians) although I doubt Balabanova’s findings, the Scandinavians (Vikings) who also were prolific sailors, explorers and settlers, and strong suggestions that the Irish fishermen were fishing the Shoals.

The current paleontology evidence with westward migration of horse, camelids (predecessor to camels), cheetahs, musk ox and others had initially evolved in America. There are clear suggestions that Beringia was a two way migration point. Bears and wolves clearly moved both directions. As did people. All smarter than Flat Earthers.
