EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

I will repeat this if somehow we get a healthy Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter for the playoffs. And the offense continues to evolve and become mediocre. I would hate to play the Eagles come playoff time. The key is to clinch by that last Commanders game for a bye week to rest some peeps, especially Reed, Q, Coop and Baun. I believe this is a one off for Hurts (WORST GAME OF HIS CAREER) and he rebounds greatly. Hope AJ doesn't turtle and figures out how to stride correctly for a ball next game. And we will be fine. Has there been anyone more resilient than this guy? You guys will be eating your words before it's over. And I'll be laughing on how foolish everyone has been here planning his funeral.

I don't even think the Cowboys would be scared to play the Eagles. GTFOH.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Better beat the pads off a tanking Raiders team.

A close win against LV will not even be slightly encouraging.

Though I wonder how Mailata would be at RT and it'd be easier to draft a LT? Lane was supposed to replace Peters but then Peters ended up staying longer and we moved Lane to RT and just kept him there because he was great

Someone with a more nuanced understanding of NFL O-line play can yell at me if I'm wrong, but it seems like LT and RT are more interchangeable than ever anymore and there isn't a huge difference. Unless of course you are Andre Dillard and can't play one side for some reason.

@just relax can offer better insight than me because I have no idea

It is beyond obvious that Patullo is gone just as soon as possible. Can Siri be far behind? I hope not. Clean out the Augean stables.

Off two SBs in four years?? Seems unlikely. who would you prefer?

slovik might be interesting as OC. Does ben johnson have any protege yet?

A post June 1 trade moves the cap hit to 2027, when we can accommodate it. From a cap perspective, it's cheaper than moving him after the 2027 season because you don't add additional deferred money from 2026. Basically, the $65 million in dead money gets split between 2026 and 2027, and you end up with small cap savings in 2027 vs. having him on the roster ($33 million dead money vs. $41.8 million cap number). Our issue us we can't take a $65 million charge, or $33 million in excess of his cap number, all in 2026. From a cap perspective, trading him post June 1 is the best outcome - moves his 2026 comp and 2027 guarantees to another team. Trading him AFTER the 2026 season is $84 million in dead money because you paid him $51 million in 2026 but took only $32 million in cap charges, adding $19 million more in dead money.

See below -- June 2026 is your ideal time.

Im fully on board with that plan then. Until that time, I believe he should be QB2.

If they want to tank the rest of this year for the draft pick, I can live with it, although I still think theyd be wasting a shot at winning the super bowl if they insert Tanner McKee any week this year before its too late.

Ill take another super bowl win over preserving more value for Hurts in a trade.

He doesn't need an abdomen to long snap right? So no worries.

Im really kind of disappointed to be going.

In a recent mock on NFL Draft Exchange, they had the eagles selecting Caleb Lomu at pick 23.

I kinda like the sound of his teammate Fano even better. I believe we just need an OL. Not necessarily targeting say a T over a G or vice versa. Steen isnt good enough for us spoiled with elite OLs for many, many years now. Dickerson is an injury concern, Lane is an injury concern. Even Mailata is somewhat of an injury concern. Ill take the guy who can basically play anywhere you need him.

If Siri pulls a Doug, then hopefully. Patullo should be handed his walking papers even before exit interviews.

Slovik hit a wall with Stroud and got canned, if you’re rolling Hurts out there next year I don’t think he’s the guy. I think you bring in an old head that can give you stability and a plus if they’re a hard a$$. Kafka is intriguing if the Giants don’t retain him…but we’re more than likely back on the 1 year OC cycle with him. F it, if we’re looking at prior Eagles legends, get my boy GJ Kinne from Texas State!

Theyre both mashers, Utah basically runs a triple option shotgun offense, lots of qb runs, wr jet sweeps and inside zones , so those two definitely used to run blocking.

Not sure how polished they are in pass pro.

Activating Dickerson against Raiders would be an absolute crime.

We can debate Patullo, Siri, Barkley, AJ and Hurts for how they should be handled for the balance of the season. But this is something everyone should agree on.

Dickerson should not play next week. There is a problem with their process if they keep throwing his half dead body out there.

Ummm…the Eagles are the team every team hopes they draw in the playoffs right now.

Since we're doing scenarios that will never happen: player for player trade, do it Howie!

Howell and a 5th?

Hey, you could be lucky like me that got to go last Monday and see a play that hadn’t happened in 50 years. Jalen hurts threw an interception and got the ball back and then fumbled it. Witnessed history.

Exactly. Burrow would make a fine #2 behind Tanner McKee.

They'd never ever do it, but I'd consider it. Only because in most years we protect people pretty well and that's a big reason why the Bengals have been such a nightmare. That's just because I like Burrow more than most, though.
