Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

  • Proud of this girl.  Eleventy billion push ups, sit ups, squats, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, planks, combinations, self defenses and weapon katas later in the cold and wind she earned her black

  • I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in November. They removed my thyroid gland right before Thanksgiving. Post surgical blood test showed a thyroid globulin number of a 6, which is above the threshold

Good, thanks for asking!  We are hoping to have some good news to share in the coming months.

My preference was an 18 year old (either gender) with a full ride to Harvard.

Well if my daughter keeps up her 10 going 16 attitude I'll send her your way.  She's in all advanced school classes.  Might go to Harvard someday.  It's going to be a fun 8 years with the way her and my wife butt heads.  Keep in mind she's a black belt and trained in various martial arts weapons so be careful when dealing with her when her attitude kicks in.  While she may appear skinny don't be deceived.  She is pure muscle and extremely flexible (thanks gymnastics).  I watched her do 65 push-ups in a row and that was just round 1.  It was at that moment I realized I Fed up.

which is why i never entertained the thought of any of my kids taking any martial combat course because then i would have to also only they would get better and i would just get older.

Never underestimate our dad strength.  It grows more powerful with time.  I'm more worried about my wife.  She's gonna get round housed by her.

If we have a daughter and she wants to take martial arts, I'm pushing her in the direction of Aikido

Kid gloves I take it!

If that's what she's into, why not.

This story will probably make some of you happy, and that’s really all I’m here for. We had a wicked amount of freezing rain, started Friday night, lasted through much of yesterday. Power went out early yesterday morning, and it’s still out. Drove to Starbucks to get a cup of coffee this morning, which is normally a 7 minute drive but, given that there’s still trees, and branches, and power lines down everywhere, it took about 20 minutes to get there. Can’t even pull into the lot because the drive through is wrapped all the way around almost 2 times, so I have to park in the Arby’s lot next door. (We’re not the only ones without power, about 100k in our area are still in the dark).  Figure, I’ll skip the drive through line, hold my breath, and go in to get my coffee. About 100 other people had the same idea, and are in there waiting already.  Still, nobody at the register, so I put my head down and go for it. To my pleasant surprise, the girl at the register doesn’t put my order in the queue, she immediately pours my cup and hands it to me. I’m out the door while everyone in there before me is still waiting. Suckers! Navigate my way back home, pleased with myself for not having to wait in line like everyone else. Then I notice that a line crew has arrived, and is working on the downed power lines that feed our house. It just keeps getting better. Get home, take my still piping hot cup of coffee out onto the screened porch to add a little creamer, (we’ve got all of our refrigerated food stored out there because, you know, powers out, and it’s barely above freezing outside, so it should keep out there for now), then when pouring the creamer in, manage to knock the cup of coffee over, spilling it everywhere. Needless to say, good feelings, gone. :censored:
