It was looking like it would go well into the evening, so I got 30 lbs of ice and filled up 3 coolers with our refrigerator items.  Of course the power went back on 2 hours later.

We were fortunate, no damage.  My next door neighbor's house got jacked though:

Why did the builder put that HVAC unit in the front of the house?  I'd have to hide that with something while keeping it accessible.  Maybe a nice railing for that landing.  Just saying, still a nice house.

Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

That’s the side of the house

No, it's not. Look, the front door's right there!

Was wondering why it didn’t look so grand. That would explain it. Huge house!

They are townhouses.. it’s an end unit so the entrance is on the side. They are fairly big for townhomes. We have an end unit too.. it’s about 3k sq ft. This is an old street view of the neighbors..

My end unit does not have a side door. It has an obnoxiously placed side fireplace tho.

We have a fireplace in our dining room.. it’s along the back. And we are in the process of adding one to the finished basement. It’s on the side but the basement is a walk out and the yard slopes down so you don’t see the cap on the side from the front.

Found a few real estate listing photos still on my phone and one I took when I was still moving in and waiting for new furniture to get delivered. I dislike that it’s in the middle of the wall (and my ceilings are only like 7’6”) though I was able to corner mount the TV, but would prefer no fireplace and the tv being able to locate on the wall where the fireplace is

That’s a nice fireplace and a fireplace is a nicer feature than a tv! If I were you i would just mount a smaller one above it. The one you have is too big for that space. And why do you have a digital clock mounted above it??

Could use a few more exposed wires

And, by Monday the one in our basement will be ready to be fired up :groovy:

There was an existing screw there so I just threw the clock up the first couple weeks while I was still getting things moved in. One step ahead of you on the above the fireplace!

This was a popular topic in the now defunct 4K tv thread in the old board. With the tv mounted on a 30” or so extension mount, the power cable wouldn’t reach the floor to to put it in, so I temporarily (a few months  ) had to wall mount the surge protector to get things plugged in. I ended up replacing the TV with a different one and everything is much more streamlined (and down on the floor/behind the stand) now.

it looks like that living room used to be a nice space till you moved in.

You should limewash that brick and paint the room a light gray. That mustard color hasn’t been popular in a decade.

This is what a limewash looks like

I’m far too lazy. Everything was repainted within the prior year to me buying it, so other then screws in the walls in a few places, things didn’t need anything modifications. The colors are fine for me, and as I’m sure all of you know, painting AFTER having been moved in is so much more a pain in the a** than doing it when walls are bare and rooms are empty.

I’m contemplating purchasing a stand-alone home, but coronavirus is kind of an inconvenience. Also, the company that owns our building (which we sold to them 3 years ago with an agreement for us to stay on as tenants in the unused office space) just took on some covid test kit manufacturing contract, and literally kicked out group out of the building with 7 days notice.... so even tho we’ve all been working from home for 6-7 weeks... I honestly have no idea where "work” will be located at, and part of why I bought where I am now is that it’s close to civilization, yet right by the thruway to get to work in a half hour (approx 27 miles away).

if we wind up closer to Syracuse (instead of the ishhole that is Auburn), a lot more options for neighbors to consider could he possible without giving myself a 45+ minute commute each way

That’s cool!  What was your address again?  So I can find Victory Brewing of course - love their Golden Monkey

You’ll sell it a lot faster if you take my advice. You’ll also attract more ladies with something that looks more current. Take some pride in ownership - sheesh

Nothing screams long-term-relationship-material like a wall that looks like you've given up and just started finishing yourself off on the fireplace.

Just tell them the paint is still setting or something.

Chicks don’t even know what the inside of your house looks like until the chloroform wears off and they wake up there!
