There always seemed to be an issue with the ice rooms in the previous model Samsung fridges, but they did sort through that and release service bulletins on how to repair the problem. As far as the dishwashers go, I got rid of a Bosch for a Samsung. It’s the quietest dishwasher ever and so far I’m happy with it.
Samsung has a giant footprint in the appliance business now, so you’re going to hear some dissatisfaction stories just due to the sheer number of items they have out there. General rule of thumb, these days, for the most part, you’re looking at getting 10 years out of an appliance so, get what you like.

We LOVE our range. The ice maker in the fridge can eat a D.

Let me guess...every few weeks it turns into a block of ice that has to be thawed.

That's an odd feature for an ice maker.....

Every few weeks? Try every other day.. literally we have to take a hair dryer to it that often. I HAVE to have ice in my drinks so it’s incredibly annoying. If you have a fix we will be forever indebted to you.

There is a fix....in fact, it’s a kit (new ice maker, control board, clips and RTV).....if you want to send me the model and the serial number of your unit from the tag inside, I may have an extra kit in my shop.

PS....no more hair dryers. You can warp the inside wall and cause even more trouble than you need. Fill a bowl with boiling water and put that inside the ice room to melt the ice....or, use a steamer if you have access to one.

The basement needs the most work.  It was just carpeted and the yahoo builder used 14/2 romex for all of the outlets.  And its all on one circuit.  The cable hook up was in the back of the living area, so they just ran a REALLY long coxail around the room tucked under the carpet.

So thats my project today once we get home.  Run the cable from the junction box to the front of the room along with a 12/2 cable, both finishing in the firebox.

To the right in that picture is where the wet bag is going in. Next to the staircase is going to be the office.  Behind that, I got drunk a few easters back, put a hole in that wall and found a 4x8 empty area they just drywalled off, so I put a door in and turned it into storage.  That door in the back to the right is to the other storage area.  Its hard to see in this pic, but that bumps out, so the storage is kind of a L shape.  We are repurposing that bump out as a bathroom:

Oh, and those pizza hut lights are long gone.   I already added recessed lighting to the living area and the office area.  I still have to put it in the workout area (behind the couch) and the bar (in front of the bump out).

The goal is to finish the lighting and do most of the ceiling patch work this week.  Then soon I hope to paint and then put down the floor.  If we do that, I can move the office and workout eqipment back downstairs (and start working on the nursery).  After that, finish the bathroom and add custom shelving around the fireplace.

As far as the error codes, it’s probably some type of comm error due to the freezing of the ice room. (Hence is most likely the reason for the control board in the service kits they released).....if the ice isn’t harvesting (because it’s frozen solid) it most likely throws an error. I’ll confirm this in the AM with the technician-types. I’m guessing you haven’t seen it in a while because you and your spouse have been Vidal Sassoon’ing the insides.

We've really ramped up the hair drying now.  Every other day some of the ice doesnt eject fully, gets jammed and freezes over.

This link shows the service bulletin issued by Samsung. This was the first bulletin issued. There has been a follow up (for newer models) which includes the control board replacement as well.

I have no desire to move south. We are centrally located to NYC, Philadelphia and DC. We are in a rural area, but in a town that is walkable to breweries and some of the top restaurants in the area - one that is one of the best in the country. And we are less than two hours from our beach condo. We are also in a highly desirable area with rising real estate values. paco works on the road so buying into an association where the yard work is take care of was helpful. Our goal is a single home which we could have purchased had we bought in the next town over but we wanted to be in KSQ. I have my eye on a single home in the borough right now.. just need to complete the basement project and convince paco :D

Which one?

All are fine except for the fridge.  It's a POS.

Don't put it on your WiFi.  It is a wide open security hole.  A Samsung fridge in the UK was hacked a while back and became a host for a world wide child porn service.  The cops showed up and broke in to secure the fridge and the tenants had no idea what was going on.

I mean yeah, Samsung MAY have patched it.

Would seem so.  I've never been but would like to once anyway.

Actually it’s Talula’s Table.. the Garden is in Philadelphia

Right.  Have you been?

3 times. Twice at the chefs table, which unfortunately is no longer a thing, and once at the locals nook.

Pretty sure it's a lost cause at this point.

There was an existing screw there so I just threw the clock up the first couple weeks while I was still getting things moved in. One step ahead of you on the above the fireplace!

This was a popular topic in the now defunct 4K tv thread in the old board. With the tv mounted on a 30” or so extension mount, the power cable wouldn’t reach the floor to to put it in, so I temporarily (a few months  ) had to wall mount the surge protector to get things plugged in. I ended up replacing the TV with a different one and everything is much more streamlined (and down on the floor/behind the stand) now.

WTF is even going on here? You have a TV in the corner, a tv above the fireplace, and is that another tv in the box on the ground?

I was replacing the corner TV with the one in the box, and then selling the corner TV. When all was said in done it landed me a retail $2700 set for about $1000 out of pocket.

Spadaro looks and sounds exactly like an old business partner of mine.  He gives off the same vibe as somebody who isa total **** but happens to be pleasant to be around.

I enjoy watching TV as much as the next guy, but I can't for the life of me figure out why a person would possibly need 3 TVs in one room

OK - so 2 TVs - and the one above the fireplace?

So you have a tv in your corner and a tv above the fireplace in your living room? Why? I could see if it was in a basement or garage where you had a bar, but why in your living room?
