Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

My leaf sucky mulcher 3000 was supposed to come today but it’s delayed in Baltimore.  Was hoping to knock out the front yard before the rain comes.

i have an old john deere manual rider, that used to be my father-in-law’s, with a twin bagger that i use specifically for leaves, and around two acres to do. plus, my neighbors across street have 4 big willow oaks that deposit their bounty in my front yard. i’m almost done for the season. my right arm is about to fall off.

Speaking of things that can eat my ass: Leaves.

Our new house has several old oak and maple trees out front.  I love them 11 months out of the year.  Beautiful and provide a ton of shade.

But the maples conspired to drop all their leaves in like a 5 day window.  I thought, no problem, I'll get the blower out and my leaf scoops and i'll be done in 2 hours.  5 hours and 18 bags later my Saturday was cooked.  Fast forward to this weekend and all the oaks decided to start dropping their leaves.  I'm trying to remodel a kitchen and take care of an 18 month old, so my front yard is now an absolute mess, again.  I can't afford to spend an entire day collecting leaves AND I need to empty out my garage since we are getting our Mach-E soon.  (I still have 10 bags from last time).  So I broke down and bought this:

And this:

I'm hoping that this will cut the time down and get 18 bags down to 1-2.

We'll see.

Because you all care:

I'd say it cut my time down by 65-75%.  The 18 to 1 bag ratio was overstated.  Maybe 6 to 1.   Also it seems to go faster if you blow the leaves into more concentrated sections than just going out and sucking them up.

But definitely worth the $$$ for those of us with a ton of trees but not a yard big enough for a riding mower.

What not everybody does this? I point at the trees and knocked those effing leaves right down.

is it okay with larger leaves...possibly with some twigs mixed in there?

Small twigs it chewed up.  Larger ones were a problem.  Biggest problem with the twigs was it sometimes "jammed" the nose of it and you need to pull the f'r out.  (If you have too many leaves at the nose of it you kind of have to help free up some space so it can unclog it.  Think why Mr. Burns can't get sick:

It also didn't like larger chunks of mulch when I was sucking up leaves around our oak trees.  At one point I heard something constantly rattling around in there and I had to turn it off to eject it.

Looking back I should have got the 512.  Higher CFM.  Whatever.

Would have been funnier if the missus responded.

But your welcome....... Chrismas is coming and I want Santa to think I was good all year...... I'm pretty sure he's not going to check all the way back to the beginning of the year.

One more thing I thought of.  I got it with the bag attachment despite the fact I'll be using the garbage can attachment the majority of the time.  Reason being, we have a lot of bushes and stuff that leaves get scattered all around that are a PAIN to extract.  So I see it being like a dust buster in that sense.  But for leaves.  And men.

Do you guys remember Gallagher?

Well, he's dead.

I had something like that.  It sucked.  Ha.

Thankfully I have woods that line the backyard so I just blow the leaves into there.  Often. Like 3 days a week for a month.

Same but I wait till 90% of my leaves are down and blow them once.

Had 28 turkeys visit yesterday morning.  Was it an omen to how Eagles played against Washington. 🤔

I couldn't do that.  By the time I got them all close to the back fence it would be a pile of leaves 100 feet long, 50 ft wide and 30 ft deep. I pick them up with the lawn mower 4 or 5 times over the fall and dump them in the woods behind my house.
