Schmoopie had a girls night thing planned and had to leave at 6, so it was nice to be able to plug it in and add about 30-40 miles of range in an hour and a half. We could have waited and she was at no risk of being stuck, but it helps give peace of mind.

If you are Peco, I think your total electric rate and transmission rate is about 18 cents per kw, so would be $12-13 for a full charge.

Where you live you pretty much have to get the AWD, so you are covered there. And it has the protection package, which we got as well.

They recommend that in cold weather, instead of using the heat, just use the heated seats to save range. Doesn't work for us since we have a toddler in the back. But you do bring up a good point.... for the god awful Minnesota weather, one way to help extend the range is utilizing the remote start on the car while it is plugged in. Not only does that heat the cabin but preconditions the battery.

Not only does that heat the cabin but preconditions the battery. My Fusion hybrid had remote start and heated/cooled seats that was amazing. Then I got the X3 M40i and apparently foreigners are not too fond of the remote start. There was some kind of "pre-conditioning" that would have the vents blow air but it didn't do much. The same thing is on my 530e but half the time I don't even think about using it (while at work, plugged in) and at home I'm in a garage so there are no issues.
