May 27, 20232 yr 35 years ago at this moment, I was either on an airplane or sitting in an airport heading to Fort Jackson, SC for Basic Training. We didn't actually arrive at Fort Jackson until about 1 am, though. First Army meal was at about 2 am. A veal patty with Mashed Potatoes and corn (chocolate milk to wash it down) and orange sherbet afterwards. Got to bed around 3 am and they woke us up at 5 am to start the day. 2 hours of sleep (after having been up for nearly 24) is plenty, no? Hey, at 19, you can do anything!

I don't recall any layovers anywhere. I left from my house around 6 am, my recruiter picked me up and drove me to Baltimore but we didn't actually leave Baltimore until around 6 PM, after hanging around the MEPS for nearly 12 hours. We got to South Carolina around 9 or 10ish. Maybe we went to Atlanta first, then on to Columbia from there, I don't recall now. But we sat in the Columbia, SC airport waiting for a Sergeant to come get us from around 10PM until about 12:00ish. It wasn't until around 1 am that we finally got to the Reception Battalion and had to sit through an initial briefing, then they finally decided that they'd better feed us and let us get some sleep. LONG day, but a great (long lasting) memory.

He's currently doing his type rating training, and in a month or two will be flying these hot rods around. He's the youngest pilot they have by 25 years. Passed all his checks, and he’s off on his first assignment this weekend. Flew out to California on Friday, then picked up the CEO of Honda of the Americas and flew him and a few other bigwigs to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 today, then flies them back to California tomorrow. Not surprisingly they’re rocking this bad boy, the Honda Jet Elite, rather than the standard pocket rocket.

May 31, 20232 yr im not one to share much personal news here, but i got some hopeful news and wanted to put it somewhere. my brother got t boned on his motorcycle last week and messed his ankle up really bad. hes been in the hospital since thursday. first reading and then they took him to penn in philly. just got word today that the surgery to close his wound up was successful. still has to had reconstructive surgery to fix all the internal damage, but he was told this morning that amputation is basically off the table. we're counting that as a win. he might even be able to come home for a little bit before his next surgery. so yeah watch out for motorcycles when youre out driving......
