Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

  • Proud of this girl.  Eleventy billion push ups, sit ups, squats, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, planks, combinations, self defenses and weapon katas later in the cold and wind she earned her black

  • I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in November. They removed my thyroid gland right before Thanksgiving. Post surgical blood test showed a thyroid globulin number of a 6, which is above the threshold

Ice fishing is really underrated at this time of year.

Manayunk was the trendy place to be 20 years ago. I think it’s still pretty desirable by the 20 something age group. It’s in a nice location close to the city, the Main Line, and Chesnut Hill which is another nice neighborhood with great restaurants. I think it’s a good place for a young couple just starting out before kids. The trade off is you aren’t getting a huge place with lots of room and you still have the usual pitfalls of an urban neighborhood - pests as Di pointed out and there will be crime. Obviously just advise them to always keep their vehicles locked and get a Ring or some kind of security system.

thanks. they're used to the crime aspect. they've lived in an apt near temple for the past couple years. anyway, they made an offer on a place on saturday...we'll see how that goes.

Manayunk is cool for a young couple for sure.  I lived in East Falls, one town over, during college and a few years after.  That would be a nice option too... not quite as congested.  Slightly better parking.  5 minute drive to Manayunk.  Closer to the city and very close to Kelly Drive.

Okay you're not right

I lived in the Yunk for 3 years.  4831 Umbria St.  That was 22 years ago.  Back then it was safe for the most part at the bottom of the hill.  Up on top in Roxborough there were alot of punka** ahole kids.  They would jump and beat the sheet out of people for no reason.  They were known to administer the "Roxborough Crunch” which was putting a limb up against a curb and breaking it.  But down in Manayunk itself, that was very safe.  About a year ago the mrs and I went down there to reminisce (we met at a party there).  It seemed much more affluent and trendy than when I lived there.  When I lived there it was an up and coming part of Philly.  Back in the day it was apparently a crack filled methtopia for druggies.  If I were in my 20’s and single or just married I’d live there again.  Lots to do for that age group.  As far as city living goes, it’s safe.  You get your bar fights and car break-ins, but that’s about it.  People break into cars anywhere though.
