Say you have a dentist appointment, just a regular cleaning/checkup and 2 hours before your appointment your nose gets stuffy and your throat scratchy and you’ve recently been around people with various ailments. Do you call and cancel knowing they might charge you because it’s well less than 24 hours or do you just go through with the appointment and hope you don’t cough and sneeze all over the dentist and hygienist? TELL THEM YOU GOT THE RONA (OR THE OCHOS)

I'd call, explain the situation and see if they are cool with a reschedule. That way you put the ball in their court and you're not the d*** who either got everyone sick or canceled last minute.

I respectfully take exception to your characterization of my signature, which I worked very hard on, as well the essay's reflection on my state of mental health. Yes, I understand that it's a bit of a manifesto but it was necessary for me to retain my reputation on this forum. More than anything, though, it was a sincere mea culpa, which I crafted to mend any fences I may have inadvertently toppled with some of my more immature antics. It was also within the ten-line limit on signature length, so it was written deliberately to be pithy and terse. My signature is now a symbol of my recognition that many members of this message board, especially those in the What's Up subforum, admire me and see me as a kind of role model. It's important that all elements of my posting style and content set an example for others to follow and that I continue to maintain the highest standards as others look to me for guidance. Twinsie Tuesday (TM) was a promising psychosocial experiment that unfortunately I had to abruptly truncate when it was hijacked by another member resulting in someone permanently changing their avatar image. I have little doubt that that particular programme would have enjoyed more success had I not been forced to cut it short, but it may have been doomed from the beginning as I have little control over the actions of the experimental subjects. I regret the end results but I stand by the general concept of Twinsie Tuesday (TM) as originally designed. Yes, I'll admit that Fontmageddon was ill conceived and was by no means my finest hour. If I could do it all over again I would have probably used the 26-point font instead of the 28, as it would have been less aggressive and more conservative of valuable pixels and screen space. I think I struck the right balance in my level of bombast in the content, but I simply had too many postings I have a huge dong using that format in a given period of time, resulting in an unintended intrusiveness that chafed the ever-discerning Conflicting Views and Other News brain trust. Overall it was simply an error on my part and I'm not going to deny that. Thus, I'm now taking a "less is more" approach. There will be fewer postings, but when I do post the content will be of the finest quality. In a way, I'll be acting as my own curator - where only the best will do - and in doing so will raise the standards across this forum in my wake. It will be a gradual process and it may some time, but I think when you see the results you'll eventually see that I'm not "insane" as you put it, but in fact perfectly lucid. I'm as sane as anyone else with a single garden shed. Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to further conversations with you.
