Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

  • Proud of this girl.  Eleventy billion push ups, sit ups, squats, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, planks, combinations, self defenses and weapon katas later in the cold and wind she earned her black

  • I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in November. They removed my thyroid gland right before Thanksgiving. Post surgical blood test showed a thyroid globulin number of a 6, which is above the threshold

they (ticketmaster) just list the event as postponed so i dont think anything can happen until it is cancelled or rescheduled... at which time my understanding is that i will have the option to keep the new date or get a refund

There's nothing wrong with having nice things if you can afford them. There will always be haters, just because they have kids and other things they can't afford they think everyone else is the same. You're sitting on 200 large, you're a baller not some coupon clipping weenie with no moaney. We laugh at the poor, not ask them for financial advice. Ask Captain F. how his multiple lambos are.

But really, my only suggestion is if you want a muscle car is don't buy a new one you'll only lose money on the deal. Buy a classic and take care of it and it will only go up in value. Get tired of driving it, flip it and get something else that will go up in value. The only real difference is you don't generally finance them you buy them cash. Make money while hot rodding. Winning.

Yep, if you want an American muscle car go classic. The new ones are pretty dooooshy.

I dropped $500 on draft kings stock last week when I saw it announced they went public. Already up to $600.... my only regret if it keeps this up (especially when sports returns) is that I didn’t add 2 additional zeroes to the back of that!

FYP to make your wish come true.

I agree get with get what you want (even though Chargers are lame). And a restored classic is def the way to go since it’s not going to be your everyday driver.

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket you might also want to consider a vacation home or condo. You can rent it when not using it and it will appreciate. It’s nice having a getaway that you own. Our condo is on the beach and only cost $125k (plus the renos we made). The monthly is the same as some new cars and if you rent it out it will pay for itself.

On one hand, Id say a nice head turner ride would go great with a vacation home for a single guy. On the other hand, Id say the charger is not a head turning car. The only compliments and heads that may turn are the middle aged men that love dodge.

While the place in Florida was not ideally located for renting, I could have rented it to a family (tho I know that’s far less ceiling on annual revenue) but I didn’t want to deal with managing something remote, or outsourcing responsibility of managing it to one of those companies who handle that for you. A vacation rental seems like it would just take that need to clean/flip/repair to a heightened level and if looking to invest I’d much rather the passive route of stocks/etc. than something I have to worry about. I know their can be solid money had in that, but similar to restored cars, you need to have an interest in doing work/repairs/etc. yourself to make it worthwhile, and my interests/ambitions reside in other areas of life.

Not looking for a head turner or anything along those lines as just having something that is fun and enjoyable to drive. For plane a big part of enjoyable is how do the practical aspects of driving it feel, and that comes down to blind spots, windshield sweep, etc for me. As I mentioned I’ve driven quite a few over the years, and all the coupes I’ve been in just seem like they are engineering ways for you crash or run into ish. There’s no level of relaxation/chill when cruising around in them for me, and when I was given a charger (in place of something not even remotely close they didn’t have available), I surprisingly had a blast for those 5 or 6 days.

There are lots of different types of vacation units you can buy based on your preference for involvement. There are condos you can purchase that are in buildings that manage everything from booking to cleaning for you... SINCE YOURE TOO LAZY TO DO ANYTHING.

There are some cars that combine performance with luxury. I feel like the charger might be kinda fun but lacks any kind of comfort or luxury for a daily driver.

Ive recently been looking a ton at Kia Stingers that offer great performance with luxury, and comfort, and also most are AWD so useful in the winter as well. But a nice competitor for that car is the VW Arteon. Basically an audi with a VW badge. When compared with the stinger, the VW is the more refined daily driver, but does pack a punch under the hood as well. I believe also available with AWD. When you watch tons of youtube reviews for these cars everyone absolutely loves them.

To me, the charger interior looks cheap and outdated. I really think if you look more you can find a better mix of performance with quality of build, and practicality and comfort for daily driving. And likely much better reliability too. Though, if you want the american muscle understandably those other options wont excite you.

Also if I was at semi-baller status right now and could afford a 2nd car just for fun the american car Id be going for is the new vette. Even in the base model the thing is a beast and looks like a 200k+ car with that kind of performance, for about 60k. And will turn heads of all the ladies.

Anyone gonna watch ultimate tag? I’d say no normally but with no sports to watch I might give it a try.

I'd argue retirement is where impracticality is "practical", but I'm very conservative with my money.

We have two cars now: An Explorer and a Mini cooper.  Both serve a purpose, the Explorer hauls stuff and the Mini is for driving down to the shore to clean the condo or have a quick weekend there.

Do I want a M Series?  Yup.  But I'm not going to get one because there is no need

If you have the cash and you want it I would buy it. You get to live this life once and it's over a lot faster than you think. Old guy wisdom if you want it.

Fair enough.

I just look at it like you don't know what the future holds such as, I dunno, a pandemic, and its good to have reserves to be prepaired.

Yeah... def not going the classic car restoration route

my dream car is a 70 hemi cuda. an original would be awesome, but if I had the money I'd drop a classic body on a modern chassis.
