Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

  • I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in November. They removed my thyroid gland right before Thanksgiving. Post surgical blood test showed a thyroid globulin number of a 6, which is above the threshold

Make them follow social distancing rules for restaurants. I can still go to a restaurant and order as much food and soda as I want past five. All the bars I’ve been to this year don’t allow you to come up to the bar to order. So what’s the difference between me ordering a burger and soda or a burger and beer at 6?

most HS reunions are held around thanksgiving.

Impressive doing both sides of your nice home.
There’s a piece on the news this morning saying how the lights and decor is helping folks and their spirits.  It’s true. With the holiday music playing I’m surprisingly happy and motivated.
I ordered a new tree from Big Lots-on sale $65.  It’s only 6 ft but I have a small safe that I used to put it on top of to make it seem larger than it is.  And I only had to move a floor lamp instead of rearranging the furniture.

I meant my back is done, which is why I didn't finish the outdoor lights.  Using a 24 foot power washer pole to hang lights at the top of a 40 foot tree for 3+ hours did a number on it.  Going back out there in an hour to finish the job.

F'n thing grew so much last year that despite adding two strands of snowflake lights to the bottom, I am 2-3 strands short where as last year the same set of lights gave it adequate coverage.  Looks sparse <_<

I don't know how it happened, but schmoopie let me get a fake tree last year instead of going out and getting a live one every year (and finding needles for the following 10 months)   Enjoy!

Oh.  Lol.  Still, 40 ft is impressive. Post a finished pic!  Be careful.

It looks like s***.  Despite 600 lights (not including trunk and base, that's another 300)  plus two strands of snowflakes, it is sparsely decorated.  I'm going to see if I can find the same light strands and buy 2-4 more boxes.

To contrast, this is what it looked like 3 years ago with just 400 lights:

I almost talked Mrs bfit into a fake tree after last year. 4 days after we brought last year's tree home, it hatched a nest of baby spiders. Then a week later, I'm at work and get a phone call that, "the tree is fluttering". Never found out what that was, but she swore something big was alive in the tree

Next week we go back to the farm to cut this year's tree

I was very anti fake tree for a long time - but finally decided that picking one out every year in the freezing cold, watering it everyday only for it to get completely dried out in the heat of our home anyway, needles everywhere and trying to dispose of it without literally every needle falling off into my living room first was just not that charming anymore. If you spend enough money on a good fake you can barely tell the difference

My dad's neighbor got a balled tree one year to surprise his wife. He called my dad up to help him get it in his home. They take it into his basement, which had just gotten new white carpet installed, and once they go it in, it was 3 foot too tall. So he cuts the top 3 feet of tree off to make it fit. 2 days later my dad gets a phone call asking if he can help get the tree out and bury it because the wife was curious about it.

It died the next year

My dad's neighbor is an idiot

Holy deek table

We just got a nintendo switch delivered by some guy in a honda civic. Not in any other packaging. Of course, just its own box, which the kids both saw.

Who the hell does that especially during the holiday shopping season?

Had that same ish happen today too except with a Lego set for the kids.
