First sign of adversity and he wants out. Not fight for the job knowing your mega extension kicks in, nor does he have the balls to publicly say something one way or another. 100% a Coward and glad he will be gone.

First sign?

Yeah I mean I'm surprised by what we are hearing. Of course it's just rumour but still.

I’d say more speculation than rumor.  I have no doubts that no one outside the front offices of Philly and those teams that may be involved in discussions about a Wentz trade have been made privy to any of that information.

To fight fo his job, yes. It clearly bothered him from the beginning. Where Rogers went out and became the MVP

I can’t help but feel the Hurts hate has a racial component to it because it’s illogical. He didn’t bench Wentz? Wentz sucks and benched himself?

It's not everyone of course, but the racial factor is definitely there.  I remember it as a kid growing up in the late 80's, and from back then until now there has always been a contingent of Eagles fans who long for the "White Savior" at QB, especially since we've had so many (great) black QB's from Randall onwards.

They FINALLY got their White Savior in Carson Wentz, so its extremely painful for them to admit that he is not actually not their savior after all.  They cling to him until the bitter end.

Add to that the guy who outplayed him last year and will likely replace him going forward is once again a black QB, and there you have a good explanation for some of the Wentz Worship and Hurts Hate.

That's going to happen anyway. A portion of this fanbase always hates the starting QB and LOVES the backup.

It's honestly disgusting.

Hell I'd take Foles, a 1st and a 2nd

This level of failure is absurd.  Best of luck to Carson.  He is going to end up being the luckiest guy in this.  He is away from this mess.

Carson was part of the mess

Really??  Seeing quoted posts from people I have on ignore.

Now fans are being accused of not liking Hurts because of his race ???  This might be the single stupidest thing I have ever heard.

I have been a fan since Randall.  McNabb, Vick, Peete, Young,.  Since I have been a fan, folks have had 33 years to bail if the Eagles QB being African American is an issue.

Anyone that drags the bs race card into this immediately gets blocked.  Grow the f up.  Whitey isn't holding Hurts down.

You’re right about the money, can still fine him if he chooses to sit out.

Either way, I just disagree that he has leverage. He is under contract, and he can’t force them to trade him.

I still think it's a long shot he gets traded, if that's even what Wentz wants. He has no leverage. Not only is he under contract but he's coming off of a horrible season where he got benched. I would be shocked if a team was willing to give the Eagles enough compensation to make up for the cap hit.

I didn't like the Hurts draft  pick because it was so beyond a stupid waste of a 2nd round pick with them just signing Wentz to a long term deal and knowing that Wentz likely wouldn't react good to it.  But by mid-way through the season Wentz was playing so awful that I wanted him benched and Hurts to come in.  Then Hurts came in and he produced some excitement and made Eagles games actually enjoyable to watch again.

So I like Hurts.  I wouldn't have an issue if they went into next season with Hurts as QB.  I thought if they kept Wentz that they would absolutely need to have an open QB competition at the least.   That said though I do have major concerns about the ceiling of Hurts long term.  He doesn't have as strong of an arm as I would like in a young QB to develop to hopefully become the franchise and his instinct to pull down and run for some yards seems to intertwined into his brain and I don't think that is viable long term just due to the wear and tear on someone's body.

So I would be open for drafting a QB at 6 if one of the top 3 guys fall.  But I am also okay with going with Hurts as QB next season although I have my concerns.  None of it having to do with race though.

I didn't mind the Hurts pick. Wentz has been so injury prone that I thought it was a good idea to pick up a quality backup that could also provide some competition and/or some trade value down the road. I'm not sold on Hurts as a long term solution though. IF....Wentz gets traded I would like to see what Hurts can do with a full season as starter. I'll have a lot more to say IF Wentz does get traded but for now I'm not wasting too much time on rumors.

I think another part of it is people are no longer willing to give QBs the time to develop. Look at Josh Rosen, 2 teams gave him 1 year each and dumped him... he’s still not quite at the point where everything should click agewise and he’s considered a bust. Tannehill was mistakenly dumped too early,  Brees was labeled a bust too early, I think even Darnold is being overlooked way too early. If you look at the stat charts of the greatest QBs ever, they may have been good early but they didn’t become great until year 6, year 7. You can apply the same logic with very good QBs as a lower bar. Just because they’re not good year 1 or 2 doesn’t mean they won’t develop soon into a pro bowler.

For a rookie on a bad team, Hurts played really well... like really really well. And I’m perfectly fine seeing if he continues to grow. We don’t need a QB this season, no one, save Watson, is an assured upgrade over Hurts. I think the second round pick thing is also floating over his head, he could have gone in the first.

i wouldn't go that far , he played alright considering his prep time. i'd like to see how he handles a complete season as a starter if the team trades carson. hurts should have a healthy o-line and weapons to help him win this terrible division that all teams should be better.

I wonder if maybe NO gets involved.  Payton has praised Wentz in the past.  If anyone can "fix" him my money would be on Payton.

Regarding the picks ... and let me preface this by saying I don't think there is any chance this would happen but ... can you imagine we take Chase at 6 and Smith falls (in much the same way Lamb and even Jeudy did last year) to whatever pick we get from dealing Wentz and we then take him too?

So 3 straight WR’s in the 1st round. Seems like too much draft capital for one position. Of course all this is Howie’s fault. If they drafted Metcalf and Jefferson they would be set at WR for the next 10 years.

At least that way Howie WILL be forcefully removed, right? Right ?? 😳

Not necessarily. Wentz would just continue to over throw, under throw, or completely overlook open receivers. I don't think they're putting up the stats in philly with a qb whos head isnt in the game. Those wrs would just be dubbed busts.

For example, somehow Hurts got production out of an allegedly DONE Alshon. Did Carson get anything out of Alshon when they played together this season?

TBF, Brees last two years in SD he had 51tds  and 22ints. No one in the NFL has ever come back from a shoulder surgery like that, if he passes his physical in Miami, Saban stays in the NFL and the world is a different place.

This year is a scrap for me.  What I don't want to see is Howie overruling his scouts & taking QB early in this draft.  Much prefer bringing back Suds, acquiring a vet mentor and giving Hurts a full "normal" season to find out what he is under this staff.  Eagles can't blow their draft on a single player when about all of this roster needs to be pared down to the bare (financial) bones.

This is not denigrating what Hurts has done. I think he flashes enough to deserve a shot, but Alshon clearly quit on Wentz a few years ago

Yes, to an extent.   However, I am with the ITB guys, this organization has failed on a massive level with this.

I don’t get why Hurts isn’t allowed a camp and a rookie season before the hate? Why does every single other QB get that luxury but not Hurts? These washers claim Hurts sucks cause he didn’t move the ball with the same weapons oline and coaches that they excused Wentz for.  So what is it?

Did I just read a rumour that Foles is expected to be involved in the trade for Wentz? If it is indeed the Bears who get him... NOOOOOOOO!

Why not? If you ask me, he's still one of the best backups in the NFL if he's ok with it. And Hurts playstyle could lead to him missing some time eventually..

why wats wrong with a rumoured 2021 1st, 2022 3rd and foles - foles is more because cry baby diva wentz doesnt have to look over his shoulder hahahahhah.....bring back BDN....

Why no? Being real, whilst foles has been a sketchy qb over his entire career, all he has ever done as an eagle is win football games and play the best football of his career here.
