Why not? If you ask me, he's still one of the best backups in the NFL if he's ok with it. And Hurts playstyle could lead to him missing some time eventually..

1) Foles is not a good QB he's proven that.

2) This is no ordinary back up. One Hurts mistake and the fans will be screaming for Foles. It's literally the worst thing they could do if they plan to move forwards with Hurts or draft someone in the first round.

Why no? Being real, whilst foles has been a sketchy qb over his entire career, all he has ever done as an eagle is win football games and play the best football of his career here.

See my last post. It would be an awful decision in my opinion.

I don’t get why Hurts isn’t allowed a camp and a rookie season before the hate? Why does every single other QB get that luxury but not Hurts? These washers claim Hurts sucks cause he didn’t move the ball with the same weapons oline and coaches that they excused Wentz for.  So what is it?

Yes, Hurts a rookie is held to a higher standard than Wentz, a 5 year vet.

In 2019 I used to think max kellerman on ESPN was just hating on Wentz by saying he gets babied and coddled by grown men and has all the excuses in the world made for him but the more time passes, the more I see that guy couldn’t have been more right. Wentz has made a bunch of good plays as an Eagle but the amount of excuses that get made when he plays terribly is actually pathetic. It’s never his fault. But when the rookie makes a bad play it’s only his fault and he sucks and will never amount to anything.

Enough with the cuddling already! If Hurts messes up, he will have to own it. If Foles is too much to handle for a guy I don't think he belongs here.

This exactly.  Hurts is not mentally fragile like Wentz to fall apart because he has a decent backup.  And if he is, he’s never going to make it anyway.  So I have no problems bringing back our SB hero BDN.

Tannehill was mistakenly dumped too early

This is the tricky thing with Wentz, he may be the QB of 2017 and it was his supporting cast (Howie) that caused him to look so bad.

With this team expected to suck regardless, I kind of think this is an ideal scenario for Foles to come back in. If he starts, and isn't that good, so what? Team sucks anyway. If he's a backup, and Hurts, (or a draft pick) can't handle the job without looking over their shoulder, well, isn't that part of why people criticize Wentz now anyway?

Finally, I couldn't give less of an ish what fans reactions are if the starter struggles with Foles in the background. I'll say the same thing here that I said to Morris years ago. If you're scared ishless what fans on a message board are going to say, you have the option not to log in or read different threads.

I would be shocked if a team was willing to give the Eagles enough compensation to make up for the cap hit.

Early in the Wentz wants out narrative it was stated that Carson was willing to re-do his contract in an attempt to facilitate a trade, not sure how that would effect the cap.

I don't disagree with that at all. I'm not suggesting Hurts can't handle it. I just don't like the idea. Other than 2017 foles is about as much fun to watch as watching paint dry.

Yeah but I’m on board with him being traded just because of Any relationship rift that occurred. Even if he’s good again, it’ll always be an issue

I have mixed feelings about bringing Foles back. On one hand I love the guy and the city & team embrace the dude on a SF/Montana or Miami/Marino type level and it just feels like every time he takes a snap in an Eagles jersey, something good is going to happen.

On the other hand, Doug is gone and bringing Foles back for a third time may not be ideal because it may be just time to move on. I would have liked to see what Doug could do with Hurts starting and Foles as a backup because he’s like 11-4 with those guys and the team just responds better with those guys over Wentz for whatever reason.

If Wentz is traded and somehow goes on to play lights out while we suck, I will still sleep good at night knowing that Carson did not want to be here anyways, does not trust the FO and has likely soured on the city. I can’t blame the guy tbh. At this point it’s almost like Wentz can no longer do well in Philly in the opposite way that Foles only does well in Philly

Honestly, Id take a trade for Wentz to Chicago for Foles, 1st and a high 2nd and player. Were not likely getting what we invested, but Foles, a 1st and a starter would be good. The team played better as a whole with Foles.

Carson in Chicago will be ok, still no offensive line so hed be the same there.

I have to state the obvious here, just to get it out of my system. Since they are trading Wentz, it magnifies the idiocy of Howie still having a job. This shows what a HUGE mistake Howie made. How the hell does he even have a job? Howie cost your team a fortune, Mr. Lurie, and you don't care? Here is the deal:

Howie and Jeff are lovers. Ever see Howie with a woman? Me neither. Lurie's "marriage" is just a cover. This would explain EVERYTHING.  They need to break up. Really.

If you hear Hurts can't read a defense you may be onto something.

I think Doug gave up last year when they made him fire Groh.  Besides not getting along with Wentz, he had issues with the Eagles FO, funny that Wentz seems to have the same issues.

So 3 straight WR’s in the 1st round. Seems like too much draft capital for one position. Of course all this is Howie’s fault. If they drafted Metcalf and Jefferson they would be set at WR for the next 10 years.

Oh I definitely agree that would be too many high picks on the position.  It was just a funny scenario that popped into my head.  :-)

I'd prefer Chase at 6 and then Horn or even Davis with the later 1st.  If the go Davis there then hopefully either Samuel Jr. or Campbell with pick 37.

It's all BS. I bought it too, for a while. But it's still BS.

If this was really Wentz getting cuddled, screw him! If it was him not getting cuddled enough, screw him, too!

And for the "no weapons" debate: That excuse doesn't go anywhere either. Why did Foles look so much better? One time thing. Why did Hurts look so much better then? There is a point where even the biggest Wentz defenders (like me) have to realize that this is Wentz not working out. And now what? Blame DP? Roseman? Lurie? Please. Everyone thought this would work out, most of us (like me) thought it until this season, too.

It's not reasonable to lay this on them. I say it's time we blame Wentz for coming up short. For throwing balls so bad that your eyes pop out. For no real leadership when we needed it. Time to move on.

Foles looked so much better in 2017 when Wentz played at MVP level? Hurts really didn't look that much better either. It was just threat of him running that had defense off balance but that'll only last so long.

There is no restructure that can lower the cap number.  Wentz would have to write a check and pay back his signing bonus before the start of the league year.  If they want to lower the cap hit from 33.8 million to 20 million, Carson has to write a check for 13.8 million.

Got more coffee...watching the Carson clock on the trade..

Bears looking like the Carson lottery winners.

Look at his win loss record with the eagles. We’re you not watching during his first tenure with the eagles? He had a very good win loss record and in 2013 arguably played better than wentz did in 2017.

Yeah, but Doug Pederson is no longer the coach. Now we have a totally new system and playbook whatever that is.

Yep. Totally not true, right up until the time he's traded. -_-
