Sooo.... what’s your go-to drink for this super bowl Sunday?

Whatever the party has, and whatever hits me not too hard so I can properly flirt with any of the single females. Wish me luck.

Oh absolutely yeah. And I'm not using that as a slight on Carson. I mean look Rodgers is a type A but that doesnt mean he's a bad QB. I just don't think humble is the right word to describe Carson.

I think the whole freaking organization - of which Carson is a part - let 2017 go to their heads. They're finding out they're not nearly as good as they thought they were.

So did the fans.  That's why you have so many of them in hysterics about losing Carson Wentz.  They think he is an MVP-caliber franchise QB.

The discussion I was having with you last night is based on this post of yours.  This discussion has nothing to do with if Carson is traded, if Carson asked to be traded.  We can get back to those discussions after we finish this discussion.  You are so stuck in your I am right and need to be vindicated mode, that you can't even realize I am discussing trace scenarios with you.  Do you need your ego stroked ?? Fine.  CARSON WENTZ WILL BE TRADED.  Now that we are past that, back to the discussion.

In your post, you gave the two scenarios.  The first is what the team acquiring Carson Wentz is taking on.  Very reasonable 2021 cap hit, and they will be able to get out of that contract in 2022 for almost zero dead money.  Very good for the team acquiring him, and most talking heads agree that it is a very good contractually for the team acquiring him.

What I would like to finish, is the second part of the tweet and the bolded that you posted.  The only restructure Carson may do in a trade would be to lower cap hits for the team acquiring him, and get it converted into signing bonus money that is guaranteed, that is only benefitting Carson and the new team, has zero impact on the Eagles cap situation.

But my question again is, WHY WOULD CARSON PAY BACK BONUS MONEY TO THE EAGLES ?? It has no impact on the cap implications for the team trading for him, and would have no impact on the compensation the Eagles receive for trading him.  The only thing it would do is lower the cap hit for the Eagles.  He would be gone, why would he care about the Eagles cap situation.  If the Eagles won't trade him without this caveat, it has no impact on Carson.  He stays, and his contract becomes fully guaranteed and he gets every penny of the 25.4 million for 2021.  The problem with this scenario is the Eagles problem only.  If they do not move him before 2021 becomes fully guaranteed, then the cap hit to trade / release him is 59 million.

So one last time, how would Carson Wentz not paying back bonus money stop a trade from happening.  I would very much like you to give me a specific reason why it would stop a trade from happening.

The bolded is incorrect if the Eagles refuse to trade Carson without getting some relief on his dead money.  Then it becomes Carson Wentz' problem also because it is stopping him from getting what he wants, which is to get out of Philadelphia.  Unlike you and your Washer friends who desperately want Carson here, he himself wants out.

That said I seriously doubt it happens, and I'm not even sure if its allowed by the CBA.  If it is allowed, I doubt Howie will play that level of hardball as it may sabotage the offers since the acquiring team would likely be expected to make Carson whole on the backend by paying him a bonus of the same amount Carson pays back to the Eagles.

But with Howie you never know.

Rumors err'where

It would be really rare for him to give a signing bonus back. This is a rare situation though. The NFLPA won’t step in though, it’s his contract and his right regardless if they like it or not. They can’t do anything.

The only times players give signing bonuses back is if they retire, in serious legal trouble, or if they have a serious non football injury.

Most smart NFL players save their signing bonus in case of the last scenario so I would assume Wentz still has most of the bonus. That’s an assumption though, no way to tell unless he just straight out said he has the money.

Carson doesn't need to come up with the money.  The deal would be Carson pays back some amount - let's say $10M to the Eagles.  Then the acquiring team makes him whole by giving him an extra $10M bonus.  The money would come via a loan, and Carson wouldn't have to come up with a single penny.

Net effect is $10M more cap hit for the acquiring team and $10M less cap hit for the Eagles.  Because of that the Eagles would get less in trade.

All this is assuming doing this is even allowed, which again I'm not sure of.

They certainly thought they could make a couple more runs at a SB. I never saw it happening. They were just going to get older and more expensive. The only silver lining was Wentz who I still think is a huge question mark.

Can't disagree with that! Since that SB victory a lot of bad decisions have been made.

Seeing some speculation of Wentz going to Carolina for 8th overall pick. Give me that trade all day.

This would be way better than anything reported previously.  #8 is worth far far more than #20.

I'd expect they'd try to dump Bridgewater on us in a deal, and we don't have the cap room to take him on.  Would need to reroute him elsewhere.

I’m not taking the speculation that seriously. I highly doubt it happens & I think it’s mainly coming from Eagles fans/media to who are fantasizing "what if”

Done if true.

Eagles better get a deal done before these teams realize what they’re really getting.

Guess we’ll have to find a team that doesn’t have Twitter, obviously without Twitter no teams would have any idea about his actual performance

Teams don’t need Twitter to know Carson isn’t very good, I hope the Bears aren’t reading Twitter though, cause most of their fans seem to  hate the idea of Wentz who are posting there. Not everyone seems to think Wentz is on the same level as Russell Wilson like you do. 😂

One of my friends is a big Bears fan. When I told him of the rumours he said he was in the process of trying to find someone to murder him! I'm guessing he's a fan of the potential move...

I’ll be glad when the SB is over and the Eagles can officially move on from all this. The sooner they trade him the better. Well maybe not for the team the gets him, but who cares.

That would be better for the Eagles. I think it would also be better for Wentz. I think Chicago and Philadelphia are too much alike, neither fit a guy from North Dakota.
