Different eras - inflated numbers all around these days.

Wentz has definitely shown he is capable of playing at a level higher than McNabb (2017, back end of last year) but McNabb is majorly under appreciated around here.

Jury is still out but I think Wentz has a better career when it’s all said and done. I wouldn’t have had any doubt about this before this season. Maybe I’m overreacted to a horrible 2 game stretch by our franchise QB?

Not at all.  You seem to be one of the few that actually doesn't forget how good Wentz is when he's good.  Some of these "Tank for Trevor" and "Bench him right now" posts are mind numbing.  It's been 2 games this year.  I have no problem admitting if I'm wrong at the end of the season, but he has earned the right in his 5th year to see this through and right the ship.  "Tank for Trevor" after 2 freakin weeks.  Idiots.

Aside from a stretch of a few games against horrendous competition at the end of last season, Wentz has been average AT BEST over the last two seasons, and first two games this year. So no, it's not just two games and no he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. What you see is what you get with Wentz in year five and at almost 28 years old. He is an incredibly talented QB with extremely questionable decision making and erratic accuracy. This leads to the extreme inconsistent nature of his play. This doesn't even take into account that he is extremely injury prone. Me personally, I would much rather have a solid, consistent, reliable starter than the Wentz roller coaster.

In Lurie’s defense I do think the Chip Kelly situation got so out of hand that he felt he had no other choice but to intervene. It’s his team and though I don’t agree with any idea of the owner meddling he does have the right to do so.

Jerruh Jones immediately comes to mind....

I don't think it's that bad. Carson has already surpassed McNabb numbers

I realize it's a team game but the fact McNabb led teams had so much playoff success where as Wentz hasn't led the Eagles to one playoff win cannot be ignored. There is also the fact that Wentz has only had on elite season where as McNabb had several. Numbers mean very little in this context considering the league is completely different now and Wentz throws WAY more than McNabb did. If we are being perfectly honest Wentz shouldn't even be mentioned anywhere near the same place in Eagles history with McNabb. For the record, I have never been a big fan of McNabb's personality and he drove me nuts as a QB at times.

Maybe Jeffrey can learn to draft as well as Jerry has. Both can’t be any worse than Howie.

You know, you actually have a point there. As much as I hate that entire organization I must say they draft some keepers on a consistent basis. I agree....can't be worse than Howie and the absolute wonderful job he has consistently done...

The first bolded sentence is a valid argument.  I am also worried about his injuries, and I hope he remains healthy.  As far as his production overall in a big picture, I just don't agree.  He's been unacceptable through 2 games this year.  Why though?  Did he just all of a sudden forget how to be good?  He took a team of practice squad guys that couldn't create separation from my lazy, 12-year old, pot bellied mutt.  He absolutely deserves to fight his way through this right now.

The second bolded sentence makes it sound like you think these guys grow on trees.  There aren't many solid, consistent, reliable starters.  You want Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Philip Rivers? Be my guest.  I'll take the guy that's younger with more talent that 100% needs to fight his way through the Shawshank Sheethole tunnel that he's currently in and figure out a way to get to the light at the end of the tunnel.

Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan are much better QB's than Wentz at this point. Also, and I can't stress this enough. He's been in this funk since 2018. He is in year five and soon to be 28 years old. I'm not going to get on you personally for going down with the ship but I think you are ignoring some facts and setting up yourself for serious disappointment.

Who knows I'm not really proclaiming anything it's tough right now

That’s kind of where I was going. At the start of the year there was no doubt in my mind than Wentz would have a better career. Now, some doubt he crept in. That’s how bad Wentz has been these first two games (or last 6 quarters to be more accurate).

He seems to be in his own head. He went through something similar last year during the middle and fixed it. We just can’t be going through this every year - being a franchise level QB doesn’t mean you go between playing at a very high end level and throwing horrible clunkers. You need to be consistently good.

Matt Stafford is in his 12th year in the league and has never won a playoff game.  That might be the most embarrassing stat I've ever seen.  Matt Ryan, besides the worst choke performance in SB history, has led his team to an absolutely horrendous record since, and this is his 13th year.  Not to mention Atlanta's receiver, RB, and TE talent year after year is at the top of the league.   Matt Ryan should throw for 6000 yards a season with those freaks.

No need to continue arguing.  Your opinion was made up a long time ago and you should burn yourself with a hot torch like Short Round does to Indiana Jones in Temple of Doom to wake up.  I'm still willing to give our franchise QB (who has already shown he has more ability than both of the above) another chance in his 5th year in the league (after some terrible injuries).  Maybe I am setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm not ignoring any facts bruh!

Now that I think of it, Gary Busey should have had Booger McFarland's role on that moving crane on Monday night football with free reigns to interrupt Witten, move the crane up and down, and even run onto the field when he felt like it.  The world needs a lot more Gary Busey right now.

Absolutely nothing at all.  Just a couple of non-offended, warm-blooded guys that enjoy some immature jokes and stupidity to get through a strange year.  One thing that is impressive is that you can deliver some great insults, but you can also take it......

The love you make is equal to the love you take.

If even immaturity and stupidity was a weapon to be wielded, now is the year to do so.

Though Wentz is in Year 5 and hasn't won a play off game so far. It would be interesting to know how many QBs didn't win a play off game in their first 5 years and then did after that.

Fair enough, I guess I'm still holding out some hope for Wentz. It's just a shame.
