Could the Eagles win the NFC East with a losing record?

Featured Replies

Given how the Cowboys imploded Thursday even with the Buccaneers trying to give the game away coupled with the injury woes the Giants and Commanders have, could the Eagles wind up winning a third straight NFC East title but this time do it with an 8-9 or worse record?

I have a poll question asking if the NFC East winner finishes 8-9 or worse.

No

No. Giants are running away with it without thier starting qb. Realistically we need to stay away from the playoffs since we cannot compete and just take this L of a season.

The way everyone's schedule sets up, it looks to me like we could see the Giants start 6-1 but then run into the tough part of their schedule by the time they face the Eagles in Week 18 and be 8-8 while the Eagles look like they could bounce back and be 8-8 or 9-7 going into the finale in The Meadowlands. That could wind up being the final game of the regular season.

Please...

No more wins, need that top draft pick....

Of course they could, but what's the point if they do?

They could yeah. The way this division is going they could win it with a losing record… But I agree with @Portyansky what’s the point? They aren’t good enough to be competitive and the worst thing you can be in the NFL is mediocre.

Agree with the 2 above posts.

Yes, they could win it with a losing record. I don’t think that will happen though. Giants or Cowboys will get to 10 wins and win the NFCE.

I want high draft picks. Not an 9-8 team that wins a crappy Division AND THEN gets boat-raced in the 1st round of the playoffs.

You think Giants get to 10 wins for Winston at QB? I mean I guess he’s won games throughout his career so he could. So far so good from them but he’ll also cost them games.

It does go to show though what can be done if you have coaches that help their players through the scheme etc. We have more talent than the Giants yet they at least look competent.

The Giants could easily get an additional 3 wins, just from their new HC, IMO. So, yeah, they could scratch their way to 10 wins. I don’t want to say that the Giants are "due” for a successful season. But, they kinda are. Rather have them win it than the Cowboys.

You going to the game tomorrow, UK?

What fun would that be???

It’s so early in the season so it’s really hard to say yet, but I don’t think I’m looking at a team that can do anything in the playoffs even if they got here. It’s getting real close to a point where one has to ask is it better to make the playoffs or is it better to just tank.

The way they're playing, it might be the only way they can

I think so

That Giants/Wash game was fun. I thought our team was not detailed or prepared.

NYG in position win it in OT..........fumble. Wash in position to win it, clock runs out on their Offense. LOLOLOL

I mean that’s obvious but will they? Nope. They’d have to win 8 games and I don’t see them getting 6 more. They are done.

I don’t know - the Giants look terrible. We have a ton of flaws on offense but I can’t see Winston beating us and I think we’re awful.

Sure, they could......but to what end? A first round loss?

This offense has made no visible progress......it's even looking worse each game.

If they continue this ridiculous run, Howie and Lurie have a lot of decisions to make.....

After watching the end of our game, I thought it can't possibly get more pathetic than that. Then Washington says, "hold my beer"! lol

Yeah, Dan Quinn is awful. Here’s a guy who blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl. He’ll be gone after this year too.

The worst thing that can happen is this team making the playoffs because of a crappy division. It sucks because we're only 5 games in, but this is a lost season. My interest has now shifted from winning to just watching the young guys to see how they perform...Markel Bell, Lemon, Kendall, Lampkin, hopefully Stowers at some point, etc. And I hope they can make another trade or 2 to acquire draft capital.

The losing is going to continue for several weeks.

the woes of getting a first down have continued. Nothing has been fixed or addressed. It's just the same the thing over and over. Those swing passes are terrible. And the offensive coordinator did it twice in a row. First to WR then to a TE as if that may make a difference.

First, it depends on how they are playing at that point. Second, it keeps the cowboys, giants, and commanders from being the NFCE champs another year --- nothing wrong with that. Third, it means those 3 other teams have even worse issues.
