If I was Nick, I'd resign at the end of the season and tell Lurie and Howie "F you!" lol. This whole reset button thing is a just a reset for the FO and we will be right back in this same position within 5 years. There's no f----- way they put a game before his health.......they followed what the medical staff said and Hurts and his agent decided to play. Why in the world would they put the most important player at risk without medical approval, the player and the agent approval? Most teams/organizations don't "strike lightning" like that and have that type of success. Also, Chip didn't win a SB. People keep asking why, and I think the gold standard that the Eagles FO has is exactly why some coaches don't want to come here. No one wants to look over their shoulder like that and worry about getting canned after 1 bad season. they also don't want to be yes men.

They knew he had a clot before the game and had taken all of those precautions so it wouldn't get worse prior to the game. So why on earth anyone thought it was a good idea to let him play after all of that is beyond me. They also knew he would have to board a long flight after the game as well. They should have shut him down immediately. I don't care that Jalen signed off on it. RG3 signed off on playing as well and look how he ended up. They should've done their job and ignored what the player wanted to do and simply done what was best for the player.
October 21Oct 21 Author 21 hours ago, birdman#12 said:Ok, your post sounds like you write for the Philly media.......making subtle accusations and stirring the pot when there is little there. The way they handle injuries: Players play hurt all the time. The decision to play a player dealing with an injury lies with the player, the medical staff, the trainers and the coaching staff. And these players represent a significant investment by the team......so "allowing" them to play is not a decision taken lightly. The medical staff and trainers makes decisions on examinations and tests AND what the player is telling them. The player and his agent AND the coaches decide based on the medical evaluation. To say the eagles put them out there without regard to the medical info and the player's agreement is ridiculous. Eagles have shown that they take plenty of time to bring back injured players in the past. The Blood clot debacle: Again the media is driving the narrative that the eagles ignorantly put Hurts at risk. Medically he was cleared, Hurts agreed to play....and the NFL, who loves to fine teams, found no fault in the way the eagles handled it. Hurts has not come out and condemned the team or the medical staff. Everybody (fans and media) acts like they know about blood clots and the prognosis......again, Hurts is a huge investment for this team. Why would they put his overall health at risk unless the medical staff cleared him?High profile coaching candidates: The eagles are not a knee jerk organization. They prefer to take their time and vet coaching prospects. They may provide parameters to coaches that many coaches find too restrictive. Many established coaches want more say or more power in player selection and when the eagles gave that to Reid after the NFC championship games and Super Bowl, it didn't work out well.......neither did it when chip Kelly got GM responsibilities. So they do it their way, and they've won 2 of 3 Super Bowl appearances.Player retirements: The players you pointed out were all at the end of their careers......and some of them had other personal issues that influenced their decision when the intensity of another NFL season became too much. And maybe they realized they weren't going to get the playing time they thought. You seem to ignore the many players that have signed here over the last few years who have signed 2nd contracts...... There's no mysterious thing going on there.....They didn't fall apart after super bowls: The eagles encountered what all Super Bowl teams do......the loss of good coaches due to success and the loss of players that the team simply can't afford under the salary cap....it happens to all of them......and the eagles unfortunately replaced good offensive coordinators with inexperienced ones that were disasters. The offensive side of the ball is where most of their problems weighed on the team.So no, they are not dysfunctional.......winning constantly each year in the NFL is really difficult. Some unpopular decisions become great and some other decisions can become a mess. What matters is what a front office does to make the team competitive going forward. And Roseman and Lurie have done a good job even though it may be painful to watch on those seasons where some things just don't work out as hoped. If my post sounds like the Philly media, your response resembles this:LOL. But seriously, I'm not trying to "stir the pot"...I'm making observations of multiple things that could, when taken in altogether, by symptomatic of a larger problem. As far as your take on the medical aspect, I agree that all happens. But to think that there isn't some kind of unwritten rule or pressure on players to play, is ridiculous. Dickerson himself said he shouldn't have played...yet he "wanted to" and the staff let him. All players will say they want to play, sometimes someone else has to be the adult in the situation and say no. Save them from themselves. As for the coaching candidates...I acknowledged that it has worked the way they've done it. But the process...i.e., their structure....makes them not attractive to the brightest minds. Pederson caught lightning in a bottle, Sirianni benefitted from the best roster the Eagles ever assembled. Those 2 coaches could never do more with less. And we will continue with only getting those types of candidates while hoping Howie can just keep hitting on players in the draft and in FA vs getting someone that has a better offensive prowess who is able to compensate and mask for deficiencies at a much higher level than Sirianni.
October 21Oct 21 I don’t think it’s crazy to say the organisation has and is making mistakes. And as a result that does appear to be rather dysfunctional. The injuries are one thing. The handling of them though is another. The way they’ve played players who were hurt. Put players on IR without the player being aware (Dickerson). The way the whole Hurts situation played out too. He wasn’t put on IR, then it was announced he wouldn’t be then hours later he was, then a day or so later it’s announced he’s done for the year. The Dalton saga. I mean what were they even doing there? To trade for him was bad enough, to double down on that was worse, to then keep him as the back up was unforgivable and then apparently after cutting him they asked if he’d go back? I mean what a mess.Howie absolutely has a lot to answer for.

Dickerson is s tough SOB.....and he thought he could play thru it.....and he couldn't. As far as coaching candidates, Peterson and Sirianni both benefitted from not only talented rosters, but very good coordinators and assistant coaches. The eagles didn't win super bowls until they used the "formula" if you will.......1st time head coaches with very good rosters and good coordinators. The issue I have with that is that those coordinators end up leaving and they hire inexperienced OCs. The formula is working to be SB competitive but falters for multiple SBs. But then again, very few teams have repeated as champs over the last 25 years except KC and NE. Howie also falls victim to losing a lot of talent thru free agency after winning a SB. So between losing good coordinators and so much talent, it does feed into your statement that coaches like Peterson and Sirianni aren't as effective with a weaker supporting cast or less talented rosters. BUT, I doubt Howie changes the way they do things.....it's not dysfunctional, it's just the way they do it.....

And Jurgens sacrificed himself to play through the Super Bowl in 2024.Yeah, their formula has worked. I just don't know that it will continue to work...it relies heavily on having a loaded roster for the most part. It's definitely hard to repeat as SB champs and all that, but damn, the way this team can go from SB champ to a complete disaster is astonishing. A "step back", sure. But what we've seen? It's unfathomable.

He’s not a great offensive mind, he’s not a great defensive mind. Hes a CEO HC who doesn’t seem to get his team prepared to play and disciplined. The 40-whiners didn’t have more talent than us last year in the playoffs. I’d argue they don’t have a tonne more now? And yet we are in turmoil and they are 6-0 and sadly look a cut above the rest.To win the SB you need an element of luck but you absolutely have to be elite at something. And without having elite talent the clown isn’t a good enough HC to make us contenders.

Was Pederson a great offensive mind? Nope. Sirianni? Obviously not. Unless Howie/Lurie change the way they've been doing things since they were traumatized by Chip Kelly, we will continue to hire the lesser known/desired head coaches and hope he's good enough if given a good roster.
October 22Oct 22 No. They just had a bunch of injuries, lost key players who need replaced, and haven’t drafted particularly well for two years. You can’t have a great draft every year.

I think the "elite" coaching candidate has to be taken with a grain of salt.....Who have they lost out on that has been "elite" as a HC? How many current head coaches would you consider "elite"? Andy Reid, of course, but Andy had the stigma of never winning a SB when he went to KC. McVay is considered elite, but he rams usually disappoint. All NFL teams try to find that "creative" mind to take over their team......some that come to mind are Ben Johnson, Shanihan, McVay, Coen.........with shanihan and McVay coaching 9 years each with one Super Bowl win in those 18 years as HC.My point is this, the eagles "method" for picking a HC has proven to be as successful as any. And I don't know who is picking the offensive coordinators......but outside of Kellen Moore, it been a disaster.

The reason we need to keep hiring OCs, and the reason it has such a huge impact is because of Sirianni. When it comes to the offense he’s completely useless and so the whole system requires an elite OC. If Sirianni was a good offensive coach and could call plays we’d be in a better position.

Paying Jurgens after knowing he had a significant back issue only to trade him away a year later. And now the Hurts blood clot debacle. The team deserves the heat they're getting regarding their handling of that...which includes just putting Nick Kotite out there to address the situation. The team has changed medical staffs many times...why is that?Howie's handling of the roster this year, headlined by trading for Dalton and keeping 4 QBs.High profile coaching candidates always bypass the Eagles dating all the way back to the year we hired Pederson. This includes potential OC's as well. Granted, the unknowns of Pederson and Sirianni won super bowls, but I'm talking about the process of how/why we ended up with these guys while the bigger names aren't interested.Multiple abrupt player retirements. I mean, each one may have had their own reasons, but have you seen any other team have as many sudden retirements as the Eagles have had the past few years? Jaire Alexander, Myles Jack, Devante Parker, Zadarius Smith, Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, and Lane Johnson. Just seems odd...as if (besides Lane) these guys got here and were like, nah, no thanks, I'm out.The way this team just falls apart after winning a super bowl. It's not just a step back, a slight struggle because it's hard to maintain...this team just collapses.I don't actually think this organization will be like the perpetually bad franchises out there...Cleveland, Tennessee, Miami, the Jets, etc. But damn, things have basically been garbage since 2024.not to mention treatment of the fans.
