Same reason they gave Wolverine the costume in the recent movie with Deadpool, and Professor X had the yellow wheelchair in Dr. Strange 2.
December 30, 2025Dec 30 The Thor trailer released officially, which we all saw the leaked one last week lol

They've compared it to the opening of Infinity War where Thanos has wiped out the last of Asgard and sets up the plot. The X-Men actors they're using are all the older cast so I could see them being more a cameo and dying. Or sidelined for a later battle. Some fans think Doom is collecting the "anchor beings" from each multiverse for the Secret Wars. There's also all the children: Steve Rogers son, Thor's daughter, the post-credit in F4 with Doom approaching baby Franklin, suggesting Doom is either collecting the children or threatening them to get the heroes to do what he wants. We'll see.
January 7Jan 7 That suggestion on the X Men makes sense when you consider how old some of the actors are. I don't think you'll see Pat Stew do much more than die again as Xavier and McKellan wave his hands around a bit. Also concurs with some of that franchises actors saying they had no idea what they were doing. on set I don't think anyone will be surprised if the likes of Drum rollShang Chi get offed very quickly too. Reset to OG MCU, then reset again to start anew.
January 7Jan 7 I did watch all but 1 of the Xmen movies over Christmas. Some were Marvel slop, before it was Marvel slop, without Hugh Jackman and Bryan Singer, the later films are mid and the franchise would have died much sooner. Sophie Turner was a horrible casting as Jean Grey and was why I didn't bother with Dark Phoenix; her acting is high school. They left a lot of meat on the bones but you can argue, did some time travel/multiverse stuff more efficiently than the MCU did. Days of Future Past was a neat concept, done well.
January 13Jan 13 A new trailer for Doomsday has released. Its not worth sharing its just Wakanda fior 40 seconds and a Ben Grimm cameo.
January 13Jan 13 So they don't send Bucky, Steve, or anyone with prior connection to Wakanda they send...The Thing.
January 13Jan 13 The Thing from what I'd assume is another universe. They could have just recast the Black Panther and at least ripped that band aid off.
January 13Jan 13 im tired of these little teaser trailers. either give me an actual trailer, or give me nothing.in other news, am i just becoming a cranky old man?

January 14Jan 14 They like misdirection. The fake scenes in trailers (like Hulk in Infinity War running in Wakanda). They once said that no, the title of the next movie after Infinity War wasn't a word said in a previous movie (it was, Endgame).
January 14Jan 14 The stories, teasers, trailers, nuggets. They put have a lot of effort into reset the mess from the lats 2 phases and reintroduce forgotten characters, you can rebrand it how you like, but the only way to get bums on seats and interest is to tease the fans about that reset. Look, you get to see Xavier die for the 4th time on screen, OG X-men outfits, OG Cap, Thor without the Waititi stank etc.

Hmm.It's weird because the buildup in the recent phase(s?) since Endgame haven't really pointed to this. It made sense to strip stories down to individual level again. GOT3 was the best example, a new story in space that didn't have anything to do with Earth and the Avengers. Spider-Man No Way Home used nostalgia but stayed in the Spider-Man universe and had Doctor Strange in a small role. Wakanda Forever had a tough task with Chadwick dying (keeping Killmonger alive and then turning him hero would have been really interesting as an alternative). F4 was good but way too late. Deadpool and Wolverine had its fun elements but when I rewatched a 2nd time it wasn't entertaining. Doesn't have rewatch factor for me, I don't care to ever watch it again and frankly I didn't like the Deadpool movies anyway, and Ryan Reynolds is insufferable. Wolverine was cool though.Which brings me to a point about fan service and surprises. Things like the Wolverine montage, once you've seen it, it's not special anymore. Henry Cavill as Wolverine, neat! But what makes a movie last long-term is good script/story, good direction and execution. Certain MCU movies I can rewatch over and over and still enjoy (Winter Soldier, the first Avengers teamup, Black Panther, GOTG1, Iron Man 1). I also enjoy rewatching Infinity War more than Endgame, it had a better story and pacing. Endgame nerfed Hulk and Thor (until fat Thor fought at the end), never gave us a Hulk moment in the end battle to have him redeem himself as a fighter, instead they had the all-girl team for reasons. Ant-Man and Quantumania was meh, borderline bad. Black Widow had moments but wasn't very good and should have released after Civil War, too late for that now. Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness didn't really travel through many universes and show them much, it was a quick montage speeding through examples and then one short stop at one where stop and go lights are reversed and they eat pizza balls or whatever. Loki TV series tried to set up Kang and the multiverse then they dumped Kang because of Majors off screen issues. They teased Blade then cancelled it. Thunderbolts created supposedly an unstoppable villain from another type of super soldier serum but better, so if they can do that no one's special, everyone can just take an injection. And the scrap bench players are "the New Avengers?" Valentina becoming the Defense Secretary was also stupid, how did they let that happen? Where's Fury, Rhodes, remnants of SHIELD? What are they doing? There was SWORD in the WandaVision show, where are they? Secret Invasion happened, anyone remember that show? Barely. They didn't have a good plan after Endgame at all, it was all over the place. So Doom is going to just show up and they're going to pretend none of these things happened and try to carry on to Secret Wars.

Hmm.I think a big problem they’ve got is that since Endgame they’ve introduced so many new characters and so many universes that we don’t have an affiliation with a lot of these versions of these characters. Part of what made the Avengers films so good was the connection to the characters and the stakes that they may not make it. I don’t really care about any of these characters with the exception of one or two. There’s been no build up at all.Like we haven’t seen Shang-Chi for years. Moon knight? Wanda? What about the eternals or whatever they were called? We’ve not even seen Dr Strange for years. And I know a lot of these characters won’t be in the movie but then you’ve got to ask why? Why would there be a massive world event and they don’t get involved? It’s the whole Captain Marvel thing but with more people that will need explaining.

And they won't because not enough people watched Shang Chi.On the post Endgame plan, they had one to be fair to them. Feige said as much in those phase 4 and 5 timelines, but what they messed up was thinking the customers would embrace it; made harder when the overall quality of the movies/films was not good. None of the big characters and you give me homework slop. And to be fair to Feige, it seems he was told to do certain things and characters by the Execs and his time was spread more thinly over TC and Film, so no one was doing QA. The worst of all worlds
January 15Jan 15 Another challenge that TV and movies have that you can get away with more in the comics, is now you've built this world where all these heroes and government agents know each other and work together...also in a time period with cell phones, email, Facetime, etc. I know you can't have every hero in every movie that's not possible for various reasons like money, scheduling the actors, etc. But once they built the world of the Avengers, some of the stories don't make sense to be so isolated. You have to have solo stories, they all can't be team ups that's fine. But the writing has to make sense. Peter didn't get into a college because he missed a deadline - call Pepper Potts to pull a few strings, call the school and explain, try something before doing a dangerous spell and going to an extreme. There could have been a more plausible reason to break the multiverse and bring the villains in. Also, how do they explain prior events with Spider-Man, it's just now they don't know he's Peter Parker? Thunderbolts have a mission in New York City to stop a powerful villain that involves something mystical that pulls people into a dream world. Hmm, who's in New York City that could help? Doctor Strange, or anyone else at that location. Spider-Man still exists in NY, they just don't currently know he's Peter Parker. Peter's Spidey sense didn't go off about these events?Peter has these glasses, meets Mysterio once and then gives him the glasses without consulting literally anyone else he knows and trusts. Nick Fury (he didn't know he was a Skrull), call up any of the heroes he's worked with and trusts. Pepper Potts or Happy: hey Tony gave me these glasses and i just met this new guy, you heard of him? (Not to mention the ridiculous idea that the system ONLY is contained in a pair of glasses). Lots of people can vouch for Spider-Man not being evil and the Mysterio plot could be easily debunked so there was no need for all that anyway.A Skrull invasion of the government taking over...that's either an Avengers situation or at least Sam Wilson the new Captain AmericaThe new Cap movie was really a sequel to the Hulk without Hulk. Bruce deserved the emotional moments with Betty and the confrontation with Mr Blue and Red Hulk. Made no sense.Sam Wilson needed a Winter Soldier style spy thriller mission, with Bucky involved. The Secret Invasion plot would have been a better choice for all of them to work together. From Iron Man 1 through Endgame, the stories were connected. You'd have 1 or 2 heroes pop up in a story even if just a cameo. It was plausible why they didn't always team up. (Thought I do still argue that Iron Man 3 was bad, and they made Tony isolated when that made no sense. He had Avengers tower in NY, he had friends and resources. And they should have made Iron Man 3 a team up with Bruce to start building Ultron so that didn't feel rushed). The multiverse saga was the plan since Endgame. But where things stand, what is really going on? Spider-Man and Strange undid their spell and put the people back where they belong. Dr Strange fought Wanda and she's dead (I'm guessing she'll be back). I honestly don't even remember what happened to the girl in Dr Strange 2 that jumps through the multiverse, is she alive? Is she in the main universe? I don't even remember, we haven't seen her since. Deadpool and Wolverine incorporated some Loki elements but it was mostly about the void. It feels like there's not a proper setup for Doom. Just a post-credit after F4 showing him.
