Wow, he said that to your project manager?

Our PM acts like a Project Manager, He dresses like one, talks like one and can't manage a timeline to save his life.

I enjoyed the new spider man quite a bit. I don't think I had any expectations and the film delivered a lot of positives and enjoyment.

Our PM had a similar moment the other day. An old man of McKellen's age basically said, who are you? Are you a local politician?

My takeaway is British people can’t recognize faces. Like a psychopath.

New stereotype unlocked.

All mouth and no trousers sounds like a lovely way to spend an evening.

The reveal was spoiled online before the movie came out and the actors tried to say no it's not that character lol

Lmao I wish!!

Got into a wiki-hole and discovered something that I'm not sure is common knowledge.

You know how in 1994 there was an unreleased, low budget fantastic four movie made? I forget the exact details behind it but it was basically a make and dump project to get a film studio out of a contract or something.

Well apparently each of the 4 actors who played a member of the fantastic four had a cameo appearance in First Steps.

I've seen some clips of that 1994 film and it looked awful across the board. But as always, has a cult following out there. Must be Snyder Bros

agreed

New movie was legit. Easily my favorite Spiderman movie out of all of them.

Just saw Spider-Man tonight, we were on vacation and other busy things didn't get to see it until now. I was reviewing tickets on Fandango and most of the seats were sold out all weekend, the movie is still going strong.

I avoided this thread all this time thinking there would be spoilers and discussion about the movie. This place used to be so active. Several things were ruined online without me even looking for it, just seeing social media posts which was a bummer but it was still cool.

Non-spoilers: I liked that it had fun action again, Spider-Man doing fun Spidey things. The recreation of comic book covers and scenes, using more practical effects, and the shots of him swinging around the city were great. I had already known the director also took inspiration from the popular video games and that showed but in a good way. Overall it was fun and felt like it got back to what fans like about a Spider-Man movie in the first place.

One nitpicking thing: I thought the soundtrack was odd. I liked the Homecoming one, felt NYC. This was a little all over the place, especially the song immediately at the end credits it was weird.

Spoiler comments

I liked Sadie Sink as Jean Gray. That was spoiled online like the day the movie came out. I was scrolling Twitter and some online entertainment blog posted an "article" where the headline spoiled it. People should not do that, just say review of the movie and give spoiler warning and say whatever you want in the article. But anyway I thought she did a good job in the role she was asked to do.

I liked the movie but have some nitpicking issues.

I don't like this trope where the villain is just misunderstood and all the murder they did was ok. She murdered and wounded people. But she was just looking for her sister so that makes it ok. Peter getting through to her in his mind was similar to Yelena getting to Bob in the void in Thunderbolts, and other movies where something like that happens. It might have made more sense for Jean to be on the run because the authorities are after her, she still has to answer for her crimes. They did show her leaving on a bus, but they could have had a bit more closure. She also never said goodbye to Peter.

They also didn't give closure with MJ or Bruce after their scenes. It's nice that Peter and Ned connected again but there wasn't a final scene with MJ. She was crying when she was frozen by Jean and I thought maybe her memories were coming back and then she'd reunite with Peter. That was another comment I saw online that I thought spoiled the movie, someone said Jean put MJ's memories back (that may have been them just saying what they wished happened).

After Bruce hulked out he just left and we never heard from him again. Yes, we can assume he went away and wanted to avoid things. But show that. Bruce worked so hard to merge Banner and Hulk into Professor Hulk, then had the inhibitor, and then Jean basically broke his merged self and unleashed the true Hulk again. Which is good for fans to see the real Hulk again, and could set up interesting things for the future with him. But that would be devastating for Bruce to be back to where he was before, and worried about Hulk taking over. A brief scene of him lamenting that and telling Peter he's got to go back to his island getaway (where he was in She-Hulk show) to do more work again would have been a brief, simple scene. You would also think another conversation with Bruce and Peter about the concerning inhibitor technology would happen to close out that storyline. That technology could be used against them. For example in the Dark Knight, they had a quick resolution to the sonar cell phone technology. Bruce said when it's over, blow it up. And they did. The end, closure to a plot point.

The post-credit scene was a let down. They could have had Jean meet Scott/Cyclops or Charles Xavier. They could have done something more to tease Doomsday.

I know they can't have too many heroes in these things, but he fought The Hand and so did DareDevil in his show, and with Frank teaming up with him and being sorta close to DareDevil you'd think he would have been involved, especially since Matt was his lawyer in the last Spider-Man movie so it might have been a natural step to have DD in this.

Spiderman making 2 Billion at the box office shows super hero fatigue goes away when the film is good. I guess that is why there is less activity here - phases 4 and 5 were complete arse, the comics are no better and people moved on. Doomsday is going to do very, very, very well, don't get me wrong. The issue will be the follow up and the post Secret Wars stuff out there shows Marvel haven't fully learned yet.

But I do like the new X-Men castings a lot, Mostly actors with no big project past and young enough to do multiple films. The casting of Mr Sinister - very good

There is a documentary on Amazon regarding the stuff that led up to the MCU and its beginnings. It was pretty interesting learning about how the rights to the different characters and IPs bounced around.
