Me too.  D'Onofrio is a good enough actor that his physical size doesn't become a massive issue.  The dude is flat out menacing when he turns it on.

The ratings are in for Daredevil's premier week. Not good at all. Agatha All Along performed better, as did Ahsoka and even The Acolyte 🤣. A shame that a great Netflix show got mixed up with Disney's general incompetence and ended up mired in apathy.

my brother (big star wars guy) canceled his disney+ because there werent enough decent shows for him, and his kids stopped watching the mickey stuff. i was using his account, so i figured id let a handfull of episodes of daredevil come out before i signed up for a month of it. im assuming a lot people are doing the same. disney+ just doesnt seem worth it anymore

Agree.I only have D+ for random stuff, but this will be my last year. Its just not worth the money. Netflix is churning out content, Disney isn't.

Interestingly, it seems the episodes we have now are what was filmed before the new gang came in. The later eps take an "uptick" apparently

I let shows build up til the whole season is loaded and then binge them. They got people used to binging then tried to go back to releasing 1-2 episodes per week. A lot are doing that now. Reacher on Prime, 1923 on Paramount, I'm waiting for all of them to be available before I start watching.

Plus there's not really anything that I'm that interested in that I can't wait for. The new Captain America movie was mid, I only saw it in theaters because my son wanted to.

The last thing I was interested in was Deadpool & Wolverine for whatever cameos because social media would spoil them within hours, which was true.

I tend to let things build up and then binge them later.  My only concern is random spoilers, so HotD was a day of watch but other stuff is not so much - Invincible is building up nicely and I hear this season is pretty good.  That said, I have been watching Reacher and its decent apart from 1 episode which is a bit cringe and not Reacherish if I am being honest.

MCU wise, some good reports are out there about the FF movie.

I'm all caught up on Daredevil.  Its a bit jarring going from the Netfllix version to go straight to the Disney one.  Its not awful, but its not good either.  Like your favourite restaurant closing down and reopening a few years later with some of the same staff. Its kind of similar but something is not right.  Its Daredevil meets Spiderman No Way Home meets Bluebloods meets Law and Order meets TikTok blogger.

I can see why some people are done with it and some are more cautious.  Wilson Fisk in therapy is ridiculous. It maybe in some comics, but the character is being cucked out on screen.  And yeah, Kingpin looks small and weak now; Vanessa has bigger balls than he does.  The BB news thing is repetitive and pointless.  That scene with the Punisher was excellent though - top notch as is some of the other acting.

And why is the brightness turned up so much?  Netflix's version feels so vibrant.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/avengers-doomsday-cast-announced-1236172556/

The cast announced included Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Letitia Wright (Black Panther), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Danny Ramirez (The Falcon) and Winston Duke (M’Baku).

The cast of Marvel’s upcoming May release anti-hero team movie Thunderbolts* was also represented, with Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Wyatt Russell (U.S. Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Hannah John-Kamen (Ghost), and Lewis Pullman (a character at this time simply known as Bob) also getting chairs in the soundstage, as the live-stream showed.

The cast reveal also included X-Men actors Patrick Stewart (Prof. X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), who kicked off the modern era of superhero movies with 2000’s X-Men, the film Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige cut his teeth on as an assistant.

They will be joined by X2: X-Men United‘s Alan **** (Nightcrawler) and Kelsey Grammer (Beast), who starred in X-Men: The Last Stand for 20th Century Fox and had a cameo in The Marvels. Channing Tatum, who once was attached to a Gambit movie that never happened, will also appear in Doomsday after making his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Members of the Fantastic Four are also in the cast, including Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Thing) and Joseph Quinn (The Human Torch).

Tenoch Huerta Mejía, who played Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, was the first true surprise of the casting event. There were questions over his return to Marvel after he was accused of sexual misconduct in June 2023, claims he denied as "false and completely unsubstantiated.” He dropped out of a Netflix movie amid the media storm, and later appeared as a guest at Marvel’s Echo premiere event, suggesting he and the studio were on good terms.

Doomsday has a release date of May 1, 2026, while follow-up Avengers: Secret Wars is on the calendar for May 7, 2027.

Rumors are Chris Evans, Tom Holland & others not mentioned will be in the part 2 movie.

They did so well with Infinity Saga but they've been struggling with the Multiverse Saga

Supposedly Muse is a character that meshes well with Daredevil, so if done well, could be epic to watch. Hence the final scene in the tunnels has quiet meaning to that

As for episode 5

Spoiler

An example of why most of the filmed stuff got canned and they pivoted to a new show runner

And onto the movie announcement,is this just another Endgame medley movie?

I finally watched Brave New World and if you can't make a decent film with Harrison Ford playing Red Hulk you really need to take a break for a while. It actually has the bones of a decent plot, but tonally it's all wrong it would've worked better as a way darker, grittier movie instead it's sort of magic Top Gun with monsters.

I also struggled to understand the decision to shoehorn in Sabra (albeit not explicitly calling her Sabra and changing her backstory) at this particular juncture of global geopolitics, either admit propaganda is what you're doing and do it with your whole chest, or just don't include a character who barely registers as minor in the comics, to do it then half ass it like they did was really weird.

Generously it's a 5/10

Supposedly Sabra had a larger part in the original story. but because that story was so bad, her part after the many rewrites, got left on the cutting room floor.  I don't believe it was due to the conflict;just a victim of Disney being Disney.

What a waste of the character, it seems.

Episode 8 of Daredeviil

Spoiler

Part of it was really good, but I almost past caring at this point because its been such a mess overall and the bad, is baaaaaaad. I feel sorry for Cox and D'Onforio because they clearly care about DD and are doing their best with what they had to work with.

But when the 2 big characters credibility is shredded in other properties (She-Hulk, Echo and Hawkeye), this is what you get.  Apathy

Born Again’s been ok. A bit disjointed. Disney should have just hired everyone from the Netflix series to make it.

It would have made the most sense. The disjointed nature in the series is a splice between the old legal procedural show and the new one that has some Netflix people on it. Hence why the wobbly handcam style disappears and then comes back randomly.

One minor beef I have is why Bullseye has turned into a bad shot with a gun. I get we might see why this week, but even so. The lad doesn't need to take a moment to lineup a shot

The Netflix series did a much better job with portraying the Bullseye character than DC has done with any of their versions of Dead Shot. Netflix did a fantastic job of translating his lethality for the screen.

I do think they missed a trick not adding in the buzzing insects in Bullseyes head from the Netflix series. Just helped hint at what is going on in his head

i'm here with the show as well. i like it, but it could be much better.

the whole muse storyline ended right when it got interesting.

I think that Muse was a victim of the change of show runner change and the new one trying to sort the mess out. The character effectively being blind to DD, no pun intended had so much potential.

As for the finale

Here we go

Where the hell is Peter Parker? And the Avengers? Are they on vacation or did they miss Kingpin getting elected?

But seriously, it was a good episode that moved things on. But it did highlight how bad that season was in parts. When DD, the Punisher and Karen are on screen, magic happens.
