April 17Apr 17 The airing of Born Again got me interested in watching the Netflix series too which was, obviously, far superior to Born Again. The thing about Born Again, it's called Daredevil: Born Again, not Matt Murdoch Attorney at Law: Born Again, or The Punisher: Born Again, and I love The Punisher and realize that they're setting up a movie, but the finale might as well have been a Punisher episode. Hopefully next season gets better.
April 17Apr 17 There is talk about the Punisher appearing in a film with a big Avengers character, because that character isn't allowed to be in a film on their own because of a rights issue. So makes sense that he's getting shine now, but also the character can make up for bad writing because the actor who plays him is a good at what he does. I believe a Punisher series is coming tooAnd Matt Murdoch: Attorney at Law was what the planet sized geniuses at Disney thought would be good for 10+ episodes of series 1; a Daredevil program without Daredevil, Foggy or Karen 🤷♂️. Only the Hollywood strike averted that disaster from happening.
April 17Apr 17 I saw the complaining about the female Silver Surfer earlier and didn't believe the usual suspects moaning. But

April 19Apr 19 daredevil born againSeems like they felt the extreme violence would make up for a bad storyAlso Anthony in the mid credit scene was a Fing idiot

I think there is a begrudging level of acceptance on the female version if the CGI was good. I just assumed Marvel would not allow an inferior product out there on such an important start of their resetOn 4/19/2025 at 3:37 AM, Mike030270 said:Sony has the rights to Spiderman so he's not going to show upYou can reference the glaring hole in the story as they made the choice to make it part of the MCU canon
April 29Apr 29 So apparently the reshoots were because the only cast they were going to have back were Murdoch and Fisk? And the show was going to be a reboot and pretend the other events didn't happen? The reshoots brought in other characters from the Netflix show.
April 29Apr 29 Problems with this show:This show reminded me of Luke Cage plot and pacing, or the 90s Batman movies and Spiderman 3 that tried to get too many villains in. Just pick a narrative and stick with it.I didn't like killing off Foggy. If they wanted to do that, do it later in the season or at least the end of the 1st episode.I hate the trope of TV characters ghosting each other for a long period of time because they're both grieving. You would think Karen and Matt would be even closer since their friend died. You know they're going to reunite anyway, it's unnecessary. I guess that was their way around Karen originally not being included, so she didn't have to shoot many scenes for the reshoot.Another boring trope: the hero stops being a hero and puts away the costume, because being a hero gets people close to him hurt...meanwhile the villains keep hurting people, and hurt him and his friends anyway. We all know the hero is going to have some inspiration to put on a costume again. And didn't he already do that in the Netflix series?Fisk's plan was too far fetched and the martial law is over the top. I know it's just a comic book show but the state and federal government would be involved. They should have kept it to his task force fighting vigilantes and abusing their power. The Chief of Police is just missing now. Fisk said he retired, there are going to be a LOT of people who don't know where he is and ask questions and raise suspicions. Just dumb, and the scene crushing his head was ridiculous, gross and completely over the top.Yet another trope is the woman who goes from meek and mild love interest to running the entire mob operation and ordering a hit on the husband. Then she orders a hit on him simply because he negotiated a little extra money on a deal? They introduced two potentially interesting characters only to move on from them far too quickly. The White Tiger and Muse. It was very, very obvious White Tiger was going to be killed immediately after being released. Muse could have been interesting but he was thrown in halfway through then his story ended in like 2 episodes. The alpha/macho/red pilled whatever cops task force was also over the top and there was no depth. They could have talked more about police brutality and overreach, had some of the guys question if they're crossing the line too much (the one guy seemed uncomfortable with Kingpin bashing in the Chief of Police's skull). Even his chief of staff (or whatever job she was) who was trying the whole time to be a voice of reason in the end just gave up and joined which was an odd choice.I love the Punisher character. But I felt he was thrown in randomly a couple times, again probably because of the reshoots. Matt fighting him over his methods is old, he should know how Frank is going to act. Everyone knows he's going to be brutal and kill, he's not going to keep people alive. It actually was an opportunity for Matt to give in and realize they need to kill these task force guys, otherwise Fisk is too powerful. Just beating them up and leaving them alive means they're going to do something worse after, like go after your friends, family, co-workers, etc. They could have just had Matt reach Punisher's level because the martial law and intensity of the task force called for it.Matt taking the bullet for Fisk was stupid, and when asked he didn't even have a good answer for why. If he were thinking he were saving the therapist girlfriend, that might make sense. But his senses are so attuned in every other scene he is exact. He could have pushed her out of the way to let Fisk get hit. But the whole thing was dumb. Bullseye had a rifle and could have taken additional shots to ensure hitting Fisk. Why did he stop? There were no other cops up there, no one was shooting at him, the security just pointed guns generally in the air and surrounded Fisk. Bullseye could have shot many people as well. But now all of a sudden he stops? In the opening scene he killed anyone around, now he's got restraint? Plot armor for Fisk. Usually these type of scenes have the girlfriend get shot and killed, which would have been a cliche but at least better than Matt taking a bullet for Fisk for...reasons? If he would have killed Vanessa that would have at least been some poetic justice since she is the one who ordered Foggy to be killed, ordered the hit on Fisk and now that she arranged for Bullseye to be released, he ends up killing her.Even in the Netflix show, it was getting really old that DareDevil is on the verge of death in every fight scene. He gets shot, stabbed, beaten to a pulp and about to die every time. He will defeat main villains but struggle with a random thug as well. There was no famous hallway fight scene against an army of guys. He could have done that against task force guys. What was the point of the bank robbery scene to the larger plot? It felt like a filler episode. The video blogger scenes were stupid. Outdated 90s style man on the street interview looked like it was shot with an old camcorder. It didn't contribute to the plot it was dumb filler. Why did White Tiger's child daughter go by herself into the tunnels looking for a dangerous serial killer? When Matt is at the informants apartment and the corrupt police show up, why did they attack Matt and attempt to kill him? This was before the task force, and that would make it obvious to everyone there was a cover up. Matt is a locally famous defense lawyer. They simply should have left with a threatening remark. How do more people not put together that Matt is DareDevil? He's always bloody and bruised, from Hell's Kitchen, stopped a bank robbery, took a bullet for Fisk, defended vigilantes in court, starts dating a therapist then immediately after both Fisk and Muse go to her for therapy. Matt beat up some cops in the informant's apartment and they didn't put together that he's more than just a lawyer? They have documentation about the Red Hook port: it's modern times with smart phones, internet and social media. Snap a pic, upload it, tag reporters and news outlets immediately. Get the story out, the whole plot would get shut down and investigated. Why take the 1 paper copy they have and go off with it, only for potential of some task force guy to intercept?

It was a hot mess that should have been deleted for a tax credit. The Bank Robbery episode was apparently a lead to some MCU stuff. with Kamala Khan that got canned (Young Avengers?) The freeport stuff in Hells Kitchen felt like a copy/paste concept of Billions; and if a freeport has no laws (etc), why won't super heroes just move there and take out Fisk's money/art collection?I'll keep this vague. The last 2 eps and some stuff Matt/Karen did I'd think will lead into something of a surprise in next season. Its out there apparently as the showrunners have been saying, "look at the cool stuff coming, stay with us".Daredevil Born Again: Again was a great example of how awful the MCU has been since endgame. Low quality, bad storytelling across a program and the property, The ratings reflect the apathy to how bad it is.

Instead it was a handful of cops which is fine but that would have been a good opportunity for White Tiger who if he survived, perhaps another vigilante or 2 from the show they could have created, and any or all of The Defenders. Have Jessica Jones and Luke Cage show up in the finale leading into next season would have at least been a positive.

Kingpin won't be intimidated by that group of peopleAs for White Tiger comic geeksSuggestThat the White Tiger suit has been worn by many people and the daughter/niece mentioned has had that role. Hence the amulet reference on the apartment search. And that character fits into a new group that contains DD, JJ, LC, KK etc. Barf
May 6May 6 Fair play to Renner for holding his ground. When Disney are spending hundreds of millions on mid to low quality TV content and a lot on the upcoming Marvel films, don't compromise on the wages. They can afford it.
May 15May 15 I finally watched Brave New World the other night. It was OK, a bit uneven, the CGI in the final Red Hulk fight was ridiculous, and the girl who played Ross's head of security..... Like a slightly more feminine Linda Hunt. Easily the weakest of the Captain America films, but still not terrible.
