DiPros Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Have at it. Still here. MadAsHell some days, trying to get a new routine going. The pure fear and pressure is overwhelming at times -yet I’m still here. Living. Whatever that means now. I'm really curious if Pssd, California Eagle, Mama5, Herb, and everyone else has run into Mr Di yet and had a beer. 1
DiPros Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 It’s Oct 15 and just want-out ! I know some of you have had a time of it too. Feel free to share! Back in August I rented a beach house for the week between Christmas and New Years. No way I want to be home ——-so. Maybe some healing.
Toastrel Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 2020 has been 244 tons of crap in a 4 ounce can. There's too many sad things to list, and it is depressing as hell. So here's a photo from Cape May last month. Two Mennonite sisters, I think, walking along the surf.
DiPros Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 Here's a short story that can't get much dumber. My son took Mr. Di's truck and with my permission found someone to sell it to. It's not much, 2007 Ford work van. Beat to ish! Sold to his girlfriends step dad. This man actually has possession of of the van while I have the cash and title in hand. The mother works in a lawyer's office and said there's a notary there. Right. No, not happening this way. Need to be present. I've been trying for 2 going on 3 weeks now to get one of them to meet me at the notary place to get it done properly. It almost happened today, but girlfriend texted back, never mind. UGH! I'm still liable for this. I haven't cancelled the insurance yet. My son did take the tag off of it. How do I know he's not driving it? I don't. What I do know is that when I get home -IF the place smells of sewer gas, I'm turning around getting in the car and will either drive off a bridge or check myself into the ER. I'm that outta control. I can't take much more.
DiPros Posted October 16, 2020 Author Posted October 16, 2020 Oh, and my sister texted this week, she has some disease progression. She'll be starting Ibrance/Letrazole treatment as soon as insurance approves it. So, F you October Breast cancer awareness month! Don't need awareness, we need a damn cure!!!

I called. He was away and couldn’t come. He was yelling at me for nit picking -sewer gas odor is not nit picking!! I asked so you’re calling me a liar? He also said I could move. it’s obvious to me now that this is my problem to fix. He only cares about that check. I’m only month to month here so he has me over a barrel and could tell me to leave. I really don’t have the energy to fight him. Better I just fix it and leave him be. He could die a slow and painful death. And a broken leg. Best I can hope for.
Passepartout Posted October 18, 2020 Posted October 18, 2020 2020 Was suppose to be a year, it was but in the wrong kind of way!

mr_irie1 Posted October 19, 2020 Posted October 19, 2020 Nothing compared to Di's year but the wife lost her job and I was out of work for more than 6 months. So now I have about $20k in new credit card debt to pay off. 2020 can suck off a bag of smelly hobo d's.

This odor is not constant which is so frustrating. I did call a professional this morning and they can come today or tomorrow. Hope to get this diagnosed and repaired. Their website does say they have the camera technology. I feel that's where the problem is, but I don't know. I'm an absolute wreck. If it's a few hundred bucks I will tell them go ahead and repair, but if it's in the thousands, well-Landlord won't be happy and I'll probably have to move. He is a horrible person. Stupid old Italian who discriminates on widowed women. Thank you. You are a good person for reaching out and offering to help me in my time of need. I am grateful. I'll let you know what happens. 4 hours ago, mr_irie1 said: Nothing compared to Di's year but the wife lost her job and I was out of work for more than 6 months. DiPros Posted October 19, 2020 Author Posted October 19, 2020 Plumbers came today. Of course with my luck it smells wonderful in there today. I could still smell the apple & oak candle I used last night. This odor was there Friday after the rain and lingered into Sat and Sat. night. By mid morning yesterday (Sunday)-gone. Earlier last week I believe it had rained on Monday and Tues. I had the smell but it went away by Wed. evening. Saturday you could smell it outside a bit. It's gravel back there and has since dried and no smell. They checked the tank-nothing. They walked around no obvious signs of a leak, they say the ground would be wet. I also wonder why I am the only tenant smelling this? They went up into my attic space to check the vent pipe. It is not the vent. They were in the house too checking, which me and 6 other people have done-nothing. I may need to be committed. I just paid for a service call for nothing other than eliminating the vent. It's going to come back, I know it. Imagine what it's like living like this. Smell, no smell, smell no smell. Something is wrong and no one can fix it.
DiPros Posted October 20, 2020 Author Posted October 20, 2020 No smell last night or this morning. I'm keeping the toilet lid down and water in the tub while I'm at work. While I'm happy the smell is gone, my gut still says there's a problem. Going on 3 months now. It's very frustrating and upsetting. So, trying to remain calm. I'm studying the internet trying to learn what I can do to locate the source. Apparently this is a problem for many people out there. It may take some time to figure out. This made me feel a bit better to know I'm not crazy, don't think it's Mr. Di haunting me. What I know today is to do this by process of elimination. 1. Vent is NOT the problem. Plumbers ruled that out yesterday. 2. Odor does seem to appear after it rains, lasts a day or so, then goes away. The gas lighter then air/weather conditions. System being overwhelmed by groundwater? There has recently been (2) incidents with the system. Float not set caused an overflow. Circuit breaker for the pump has been replaced. The solid tank has been pumped out. No other tenant has this issue, yet odor in my unit continues. These actions did NOT solve the issue. 3. While outside Saturday there was an odor, however, the odor was stronger in the house. Next time I will try to better pin point the strongest area of odor. It permeates the house as it is coming right up through the drain pipe. 4. When my son can help we are going to take down some ceiling downstairs and check absolutely each and every pipe down there. Learned today about the pine sol trick. It's cheap enough, I'll try it. 5. If no issue found with #4, there has to be a problem in the pipe going out to the tank. Ask for a smoke test at that point? Especially if when odor comes back It's strongest right by the house? 6. Mr. Di had an Uncle who died from cleaning out an industrial tank. He was very young. 30 I think. So, while what I have at times is no where near the ppm that can instantly kill you, it's good to know this smaller exposure when present will not kill me, but could make me sick the longer this goes. How can hydrogen sulfide gas affect my health? Hydrogen sulfide can affect several different systems in the body. Exposure to lower concentrations can cause eye irritation, a sore throat and cough, shortness of breath and fluid in the lungs. These symptoms usually go away in a few weeks after exposure ends. Long-term, low-level exposure may result in fatigue, loss of appetite, headaches, irritability, poor memory and dizziness. Breathing very high levels of hydrogen sulfide can cause death within just a few breaths.
DiPros Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 So far no smell. Guess I'll wait to see what happens when it rains hard again. Trying to understand so I can locate the issue. My theory is that there is a crack in a pipe someplace (probably outside) and after a heavy rain the storm/groundwater is flooding the pipe and releasing the odor back through the system? How exactly that happens I'm still looking for that answer? Then, as the pipe gets rid of the excess water, or dries out, no smell.
Toastrel Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 Meanwhile my sister has been evacuated from her place in CO three times in the past two weeks. Home now, with power and heat, but this is her sky. Her and her husband have the car and truck packed and ready to go. Hey 2020? How about a frigging break?
DiPros Posted October 22, 2020 Author Posted October 22, 2020 What day is it? Paperwork for car and truck titles completed today. I can now cancel the insurance on the van. One less thing. 2
DiPros Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Well. Had a little rain and some odor. Not overwhelming but son was here Sunday and was smelling it. F! I’ve resorted to keeping water in any chimphole there is in this God foresaken place I’ve been living in for over 30 years. I’ve placed a curse on my landlord. Next time it’s bad plan is to have others present-like my son or brother, or nobody. Reaching my limit? Who the f knows? Bring it. I’m not afraid. I’m f’ng pissed!! A powdered keg. Tears are coming though. Relief valve is operating. And don’t ever buy this cheap ish. It sucks!
NVeagle Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Found out on June 3, 2020 Stage IV Cholangiocarcinoma. 8 cycles of GemOx chemo helped but "C" beat it. On to further testing for next best course of treatment to start in a few weeks. Every day I wake up is a good day. God is in control. I'm at peace regardless of the outcome. Praying for wife and son to be strong. 1 1
