Nice! 10k is nothing to scoff at. I ran so much this past year because of the pandemic. Been down to like once a week lately though because it's so damn cold here. My wife got me a garmin watch for christmas so using that during my runs has been awesome, much better than having my huge phone in an armband on my arm like some weirdo from 2006.

When I was in New Foundland on a moose hunt the owner of the outfitting company that I chose was angry that we wouldn't switch to metric. I said we tried that when I was in grade school and we decided hell we're America we aint switching crap. He didn't know what to say

I've just bought like a running vest strap thing that I can secure my phone in front of me. I need the phone to play music. I can't run without music. 4 hours ago, greend said: Not in America. January 15, 20214 yr I like to be able to hear the cars coming when I'm running so I can get as far off the road as possible - too many idiots out there that play on their phone while driving.

I used to run only with music back in my "distance" days otherwise it was so boring. Now the most you will catch me running is 5 miles which I can stand without music. Now I just run to stay in shape until bicycle weather and then I usually ride with a family member.
March 2, 20214 yr The good news is I'm thinner than I was before Christmas. The bad news is I still need to lose more weight to get back to "summer weight".
March 2, 20214 yr I'm glad its warming up so outdoor running will be much more enjoyable. Doing this 10k trail race I've done the last few years in two weeks, really looking forward to it. Will just be nice to do something active outside like this. Also I don't mind running without music. I also like running with music too, either kind of works for me for different reasons.

While in "theory" their everything being based on a factor of 10 or whatever seems like a solid thing... nobody knows how long a kilometer is in a practical sense. Take driving for example, 60mph is such a common thing than you know you are covering distance at "a mile a minute". You can look at a 150 mile trip and have a pretty good idea of exactly what time you should arrive. But if you are driving in kmh... are you like "a kilometer a thirty seven seconds"?!? STUPID!

See I can't run 400m without music. Did a 12km yesterday which is my second longest run ever.

Our speed limits are in mph and our road signs with distances are in mph. We are very consistent in that sense. That said... I know if I travel at 60kph then I'll take 1 minute to do 1km... so I can calculate how long a journey will take if I know the distance in km.

Whatever keeps you moving bro. 24 km is the longest run of my life. I was training for a full marathon (I have run 8- 1/2 marathons) and got to 15 miles and was so incredibly bored I said piss on it and just entered the half.

Absolutely it keeps me going and keeps me moving. I'm definitely getting better at running but I have a long way to go before I can consider myself a good runner. What would you say is a good time to run a half marathon in? For a good runner but not a serious runner who's focus is long runs. I'm a crossfitter so I'll never focus my training on just running.

The thing is, nobody drives 60kph (at least not for long distance trips) because thats like the same speed limit people drive in populated residential neighborhoods unless you're able to do 120kph so you can just halve the numbers... it really isn't a useful measurement of distance once automobiles and aircrafts became a thing.

I'm sure your speed signs and distances in the US are kms though?
