FWIW our speedometers on our cars are in mph (with kph in small). Our speed limits are in mph and our road signs with distances are in mph. We are very consistent in that sense.

That said... I know if I travel at 60kph then I'll take 1 minute to do 1km... so I can calculate how long a journey will take if I know the distance in km.

We have the same regarding street signs and speedometers. Everything is miles.

As you know with other European countries everything is in kilometers. Including the speedometer.

Agent is just a moron.

I started DDPY in January.  For us older guys, it's a great workout.  I'm down 15 pounds.

There's an app with workouts, recipes, a tracker....

Absolutely it keeps me going and keeps me moving.

I'm definitely getting better at running but I have a long way to go before I can consider myself a good runner.

What would you say is a good time to run a half marathon in? For a good runner but not a serious runner who's focus is long runs. I'm a crossfitter so I'll never focus my training on just running.

The goal to consider yourself "good" baseline was always 2 hours flat and under. My best was 2 hours and 3 seconds  but I didn't even start running until I was in my late 40s.

Most of the people I ran with came in anywhere from 1:45 and above.

I mostly started running because my older brother died at 57 with a massive heart attack and I wanted to take better care of my cardio system. The races started because I just wanted to see how I would do.

Home workouts 4-6 times a week for me or gym workouts 4-6 times a week. Depends on how I feel and my schedule (and wife's) for that specific week. I belong to Planet Fitness, so the good news about that is there are 4 different ones within 10 miles of where I live. Switch it up.

Yesterday morning was at the gym --15 sets for back, 6 sets for chest, a few ab exercises, 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Anyone here ever run a Spartan race or something similar?  I'm seriously considering signing up for one this summer - they look challenging.

Did a spartan race before for fun. It’s a good time. Lots of horny broads when I went.

Just used a 52lb Kettlebell.

Watch out for the wires. I've never done one but I know people who do, they all seem to like them. Except my B.I.L. that almost drowned at one.

I did 2 Warrior Dashes a few years ago when I was working out regularly and in decent shape. I enjoyed them both and planned on doing more but never really had anyone else to do them with.

My understanding is that the Spartan events are more difficult/extreme versions of the Warrior Dashes. I wanted to do a Spartan Race but never did and now I'm not in good enough shape to even attempt it. The Stadium series is a 'cleaner' race that doesn't have all of the water and mud obstacles if that's your preference.

I *think* the wires was a tough mudder thing - but I also think Spartan bought them out so maybe they incorporated them into their courses now.  All I know is for every failed obstacle, you have to do 30 burpees before you can continue.

Maybe so. I do know that my BIL who can't swim jumped into a "hole" that he thought he could run through but the water was over his head. I think that was a Spartan. I always stuck with halfs on roads honestly

Basement workout Monday evening -- 18 sets for shoulders, 9 sets for abs, 45 minutes on the Peloton bike.

Rest day on Tuesday.

Tonight will be another basement workout -- bi's, tri's, and probably an hour on the bike.

I never did any of those runs you guys are talking about. Wife did quite a few back in the day. Spartans, Mudders, Half Marathons,  etc...crazy woman, she is!!

Everyone should try one at some point of their life as a bucket list type of thing.

What’s your favorite smoothie/blender recipe?

We use a veggie protein powder - I can't remember the brand off hand.  But I like the vanilla powder and I usually mix either spinach or avocado and then usually half a banana and some peanut butter, then just add water and maybe some ice to thicken it up.

I did 2 tough mudders a few years ago. They are fun, but I hear they have been toned down a bit a far as difficulty.

That’s a great ukn story, Dr Seuss. You remember the story Horton hears a BJ?

where Horton the elephant listens in his apartment to you chuggin on a cork in the next apt. Even though you were playing culture clubS do you really want to hurt me ....really loud, Horton still heard the haunting sound of you giving a sloppy BJ

Love that kind of music there. In the 1980's there! Know what BJ stands for!
