He then proceeds to put 225 on the bar and have someone else lift it for him 8 times. And I bet every time he goes in the gym he does the same thing and wonders why he isn't getting any stronger.

November 2, 20214 yr Got the go-ahead to resume running a little over 2 weeks ago, finally was able to break 3 miles again this morning. Slow, but I'm working on the distance first, and will try to start picking up the pace once I'm regularly over 4 miles again. The 6 week post-surgery layoff was a bummer, but it's well worth it to not have pain and burning every evening after I run. Of course, I haven't received the bill yet, so we'll see if I still feel the same way when that hits.

November 30, 20214 yr Ran 4 this morning, strongest I've felt at that distance since the surgery, got the news that my moms surgery went well, then scored 4 tickets to the Foo Fighters. And, of course, I didn't even have to use my AK
November 30, 20214 yr Did a good one yesterday... Row 1500m, Run 1200m 3 minutes rest Row 1000m, Run 800m 3 minutes rest Row 500m, Run 400m
December 2, 20214 yr Been sick and unable to run. Some kind of horrible chest/head cold. I have been walking every day and doing some hunting but it's not the same.
December 30, 20214 yr Just discovered this thread. I had been hovering around 200-205 pounds for about 5 years, which wasn't where I should have been. But I wasn't working out routinely and had just gotten content with being there. Then the pandemic hit. With taking our son out of daycare I had to cut my hours back at work as my wife and I were rotating throughout the day between work and watching him. So then I REALLY stopped exercising, as any additional "free" time I had, I'd try to get more hours in at work. And it didn't help that I was already in a lazy state of mind. No excuse for at least not doing pushups or situps throughout the day just to at least get SOME burn going. And I wasn't watching what I was eating. Aaaaaand so I ended up getting up to about 220 pounds by by November 2021. And my cholesterol isn't good, which given my family history of heart disease is really something I need to get under control. So I finally said enough is enough. We had purchased a nordick track rowing machine a few months back which I had only used sparingly, and we had purchased an exercise bike as well. I joined a gym in my town and joined a basketball league there. Finally got back to being dedicated with working out and just as important, started eating much healthier! So far I'm down to 203 pounds. I was hoping to get down to 200 by the end of the year, but just didn't happen with the holidays around. My goal is to get down to 185 by March.

Good for you. I've found that doing organized physical activities I enjoy (basketball, softball, etc) gives me some extra motivation to consistently train in the gym and do cardio.. Wife and I had a baby 7 months ago, so working out has been tough. But I've been able to get to the gym at least twice a week during the day so that has been like just enough for me. Can't wait to add some more gym time in 18 years from now.

Our gym has pickup runs on Friday and Sunday mornings, pretty competitive too. Congrats on the baby! Yup stay in the gym, don’t do what I did and desert it for 2 years.
December 30, 20214 yr I would only bring out the scale once a month and instead take weekly photos for a better idea of your progression. The scale and the number is such a mind f for people.
January 1, 20224 yr I thought that the gym would be packed this morning with a bunch of New Year Resolution people. I was wrong. It was DEAD. Interesting. Did 15 sets for my back. 8 sets of abs. 10 minutes on the Elliptical, 30 on the Treadmill. A damn good workout, I must say! I am fortunate to be able to workout pretty much 7 days a week, if I want.

January 2, 20224 yr Question for you guys... I'm changing my training up to have 2 x push days, 1 x pull day and 1 x legs down. Are cleans a push or a pull move? I feel like they are a pull move.

So there's more to cover with push. Well shoulders are both. Internal shoulder rotation is really common for a reason. Also, the pull muscles are bigger muscles. Just do a little googling on push vs pull, I'm buzzed from the game and probably won't explain it right lol.
