Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

It isn’t illegal for the coach just to call a run play. He actually calls passes. He can do it for runs as well.

Imagine arguing in all seriousness that the reason we don't run the ball is because Hurts keeps picking pass on RPO's .

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Hurts is taking what the defense gives him, but there are clear moments the Eagles are just calling pass plays.

Wish he went through his progressions more. Looked like he missed a bunch in this game because he was stuck on someone

Hurts is good. I like Hurts.

I like Hurts too, but his play is spotty.   Makes some big time plays, but a lot of the time is mostly ineffective.   Still too early to tell.

when he watches the game film he’s gonna be kicking himself

Yup, still too early, but I've mostly liked what I've seen so far. I won't go overboard, but I think he's telented and gives us something to work with. Need to see more for a proper evaluation.

Yeah like I said, there's no one coming out this year, although it's par for your course you'd like a guy who beats up on and pads his stats against small school teams.

Arkansas is a small school team now? You realize he plays the the SEC right? Best teams. Best defenses. But keep clinging to below average Hurts.

Hurts has a bad game, but fought through it against a tough defense and came back to win the game. His haters say he stinks though. In 2019 those same haters blamed everyone but Wentz when he stunk it up for back to back games against the Pats and the Seahawks at home! I’m not even gonna get into 2020 and how they’re still making excuses for that trash we saw at quarterback. Keep on hatin fellas.

Only if he slides to the 2nd round, lol

There is no QB worth a 1st round pick in this draft. Will there be some taken? Yes but that is why teams fail at drafting cause they take QBs too early that are not worth that spot. This kid is not anything special to make him a 1st round talent.

As for Hurts, I love his leadership, his drive. But his accuracy issues are a major concern. QBs in 99% of the cases do not improve their accuracy issues when they get to the NFL level. If they do its a small improvement. Nick's play calling does not help his case. I'd still give him the rest of the season and sadly even next season since I would not draft a QB in this up coming draft. Our best chance is 2024 or 2025 for Arc Manning. Id keep trading some picks for the following year to pay the piper in his draft class.

You really have a problem.

Are Bucs not running the ball as well?

Hurts has flashes mostly with his legs but he's not a QB that can carry a team deep into the playoffs. He's a below average starter. He's a backup.  It's time to think about his replacement. Maybe see what Minshew has to offer then draft. Although the QB class isn't the strongest. Don't know if there will be any big QB free agents or if we could even afford them. Hurts biggest strength is he's cheap.

Actually Jaguars, Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, Bucs, and Steelers all run the ball less than the Eagles somehow

How'd he do against Alabama? Dropped his yards per attempt by about 5 didn't he? This isn't a great Alabama defense.

He completed 14 whole passes against Arkansas.

What about his performance against the mighty Austin Peay Governors? QBR of 54, so in a way you are right he apparently can't beat up on small schools either.

Hurts > any 2022 QB draft prospect.

Now when it comes to the 2023 QB prospects, now we're talking.

Agreed. And that's why we need to hope at the very least that Hurts can be a hold over QB for this team. I think he can be.

I don't consider myself a Hurts hugger nor was I a Wentz washer, I want whoever is under centre to play great.

But I hope this lad can be good enough to get the Eagles competing.

We don't want to be blowing draft picks endlessly chasing a qb.

That said, with Howie involved....

And I think if Hurts can be good enough to make this team competitive (not contenders) then that's enough. If he can be good enough to allow this roster to be rebuilt around him.

Basically he needs to be good enough to mean we don't go for a QB in next year's draft.
