Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

So do the Giants. And Hurts was terrible.

Right,  the Giants are better than the Jets.

I support all the players on this team and don't hate on our players. I'm happy that Gardner played well for sure because he was coming off the bench.  The game plan overall was the same as Jalen really.   25 Passes and 40 Runs.   I honestly think we still blow out the Jets with Jalen, probably 40 points.  But give Gardner his props for a solid performance.

After one game it is impossible for us to declare that Minshew is a better QB. In fact I suspect that he is not. But I still want them to go with Minshew for the remainder of the year because what I want to see is what this offense really is.

As a passer he is. Not really a debate for the other camp.

Oh for sure I've said that in other threads.

As a QB he is.  He plays the game like he is supposed to, which allows everyone else to play the same way.  Playing with intelligence and rhythm using REAL QB skills makes things way easier.  Behind closed doors, Siri is probably saying "point made!" about yesterday.

Sure, but that doesn't really equate to being the better QB.  I still want Hurts to finish the year out, and the powers that be can make a decision then.

We came out throwing though, and went up and down the field. The run/pass ratio got skewed when we were up by multiple scores and started grinding it out. The announcers even commented on how often we were throwing the first few drives.

The board is obviously divided into 2 camps.  Those who realize that we have two backups, with Minshew by far being the better option.  And those who still think Hurts is QB1 material.

Everybody in the world said the Eagles would win so no. Not enough pressure.

The Redskins will be a really good test though.

Interesting that you use that name

I mean, it kinda does. A QBs main job is throwing the football.

Unless he can't do it, like someone else on the roster.

Sam Bradford could throw better than Michael Vick, but who was considered better back then? Who had the better career? Bye.

So the big takeaway I had from yesterday's game is that, if you could somehow combine Hurts and Minshew into one guy, you would have a legit top 10 NFL qb.

And I think that's what the Eagles are hoping happens with Hurts, and it's a pretty reasonable expectation to have. Minshew isn't anything that special. He found open guys and was decisive in the pocket. But he didn't suddenly turn Jalen Reagor into an elite receiver or turn DeVonta Smith into a hall of famer. So it's not like this offense was completely different under Minshew. From a passing perspective, it was just run more efficiently.

If Hurts can get to that level, and, again, it's perfectly reasonable to believe he can do that, then you have an efficient passer who can also make a lot of plus plays with his running ability, which puts a lot of additional stress on a defense.

I think a lot of people who are anti-Hurts honestly believe that Hurts can never be as good a passer as Minshew, which is fine. But that seems like a really dumb hill to die on. I would imagine there are 10 guys a year who, if you give them four years in an NFL system and allow them to start 40 games, will eventually become as good a passer as Minshew. He's nothing that special, and in fact was beaten out of the backup job in Jacksonville by CJ Beathard.

It's just that no one in the NFL is going to spend any significant time developing a random qb with that level of ability because the payoff isn't there. But with Hurts, the payoff is there, because he brings the added benefit of his running ability.

The one thing the game showed us all yesterday is the end game to the Eagles plan with Jalen Hurts. Turn him into a decent passer and let his legs close the gap between himself and the elite qbs in the league.

The problem is patience. He isn't going to close the gap between himself and Minshew in a few weeks. But I would be surprised if he wasn't at that level by next season. In this case, the juice is worth the squeeze.

And Minshew is better than and has had a better career than Hurts. Bye.

Ok so he’s the better passer and better at making reads. He actually goes through his progressions. Those things so in fact make him a better QB.

Bradford was better. And that’s saying something, because Bradford was mediocre even when healthy. Still, I always said Vick was overrated. He had one great year in his career and that was it.

Not sure how it’s interesting that someone used a name that was around for decades until the last couple of seasons. The Redskins name is something most of us grew up with and became accustomed to since we were kids. Just because the politically "woke” crowd got their way doesn’t mean everyone’s going to forget about decades of history and not slip up on occasion and call them what they have always been known as.
