Hurts played a good game last night.  Clearly, it was the best one yet.  It would be nice if he could stack several of these together and he has the schedule to do it.

It just happened to be the best called game by Sirianni which reinforced my thinking Hurts' QB play had  a lot to do with Sirianni's offense scheme and play calling.

We finally saw a balanced, dynamic, and non-predictive offense, keep that up and Hurts may continue with the level of play se saw Tuesday.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Well, he is the best backup QB in the league, so it is fitting.

Boo Hoo...Ahhh... Underpaid $883K Hurts is 18th Best QB, while grossly overpaid $20.4 million Wentz is 15th Best... according to ESPN. According to Siri and the Eagles organization Hurts is a Starting QB...not a backup. What will it take to understand that Wentz will never play for the Eagles again? It is time to let it go.

Not sure what my assessment of Hurts has to do with other teams QB's.  He is not good enough to win in the playoffs or a Lombardi.  He is Lamar Jackson lite, who is also not good enough to win in the playoffs or a Lombardi.

Disagree. Other than one game New York Giants setback, Hurts is improving and learning. I have high expectations for him next year. I think that he will get better in 2022...To the point where even if the Eagles do draft a QB in the 1st, Hurts will be able to defend his spot...and have a new QB sit on the bench for a few years.

I do not see it.  Besides a depleted Washington team, the Eagles have protected him with the running game and he has not had to make a lot of throws.

So far in Jalen's short career he's showed to fold under the big lights. If and that's a big if we make the playoffs than we will see how much he has grown.  Beating teams with no quarterback and unhealthy crap defenses show's us nothing. This team beats Dallas in a meaningful end of the season game for the division, or Tampa or Green Bay first round than we can judge him.

Happy for Hurts, alternate or not, good for him.

I think this is good for both the Pro/Anti Hurts crowd.

The Pro side can take validation of their trust in him from this.

The Con side can be happy that if anything this will only increase his trade value.

What is Jalen’s trade value? If it’s more than his original draft value then why trade him? Also who is his replacement? I know it sounds crazy, but maybe the Eagles aren’t going to trade Hurts. Maybe just maybe they drafted him because they like him. Personally I don’t think I fit in the pro or con Hurts crowd. I’m in the I need to see more crowd, and understand that Hurts is a young player who will have ups and downs so don’t make any judgments either way. I guess I would say I’m also in the I’d rather have my quarterback handing the ball off for 1.5 mil, rather than handing the ball off at nearly 30 mil crowd too. I am definitely in the I don’t want any of these veteran quarterbacks who will kill the cap, and our draft collateral crowd, because this team isn’t just a quarterback away from a super bowl.

So when I said Hurts looked hurt or concussed in the Giants game.... I really think there was something wrong with him. Maybe he didn't tell the coaches. The reason I say that is because his arm looked so weak in that game, but in Tuesdays game, his arm look like it had zip on the ball. This guy is driving me crazy as far as does he have the arm or not. Sometimes, it look like he does. Other times, the opposite. How the hell he can be that inconsistent is driving me up that wall. I'll say it again- I WANT him to stand up and take ahold of the QB spot. But this roller coaster ride is making me nauseous.  😆

The pass before the Reagor goal line drop he threw it hard enough to bounce off the chest of a Giants defensive back.  It’s typically past 25 - 30 yards is when his passes die out.  That’s when he winds up to throw a long pass, late, his windup makes it later and then guys have to slow up to catch the ball.
The Giants were laying into Hurts on every handoff and run, so he could of had his bell rung a few times. That was the first game I’ve seen him hit like that.  I’m surprised the WFT didn’t follow through with it.

Well I see... him being more patient and throwing the ball, in several situations where a month ago he would have been running. I call it development. I expect gradual learning this year and a step up next year.

It's an NFL arm.  Not a plus arm.  He can make the throws.  In terms of arm strength I'd say the most comparable former Eagle would be McMahon.

His arm is not strong enough paired with the rest of his game. If he were good at reading the defense, going through progressions, not holding the ball, etc his arm strength would be sufficient enough.

So here's some good and bad from Jalen Hurts in the form of screen shots from the all 22. I posted three plays that I thought generated a lot of criticism, one good, one bad and one in the middle.

Here's the throw to Goedert that ended up being the 50/50 ball.

Some things to note. Hurts is reading the safety, who is turned and following Jackson. So this is a throw that is open. Yes, the safety ends up flipping his hips and recovering, but when he lets it go the decision was correct. The thing about the NFL is that the defense gets paid too. And at some point you have to depend on your guys to make plays. The ball placement was perfect. I think the biggest issue is that Jackson has to run a better route to put the DB into conflict. As shown, he gets too much depth and the safety can cover two guys. If he makes the cut on the 40 instead of the 45 then both guys are more open. When they talk about finding the soft spot in a zone, this is what they mean. Also, I would note that JJAW is blocking top 20 pick Jamin Davis one-on-one on the right side of the line and did a great job.

Here's the fumble, which is bad.

Obviously Gainwell is wide open. There is also the argument that just throw it to Smith right away on the wheel route out of the backfield. Or throw it to Jackson who has tons of leverage. Or zip it to Watkins, who is open. Basically, he has everyone open right now. This is the best example of him not going through progressions. I think he locks on Watkins, decides not to throw it and things go south in a hurry.

The deep throw to Smith.

I can't see anyone having a problem with him throwing this. He has single coverage and his momentum is carrying him past the DB. Here's the end of the play from the end zone.

You can see the ball is right on the 30 and is about to bounce on the 28. To me, this miss is on Smith. He has 25 yards to track the ball and adjust his route and doesn't do it. Desean Jackson makes this catch 10 out of 10 times. And it may be that Smith doesn't track deep balls that well. It is a rare skill to be able to determine where a ball is going to land while it is in the air. It's why DJax is one of the greatest deep ball receivers of all time. On the plus side, maybe it will just take some more time for the chemistry to develop on these plays. And missing by a yard here is better than missing by a mile.

Jalen Hurts has been named to the pro bowl. Well if other guys can’t go if they’re busy with a more important game, choose to opt out, or are too hurt to play. Still not a bad accomplishment for a guy in his first season as a starter who’s own fan base thinks he’s just a running back and want his backup playing after one game agains the Jets. Well as some have mentioned before this helps his "value go up.” Now we can trade him away for that statue Goff style quarterback who won’t win us anything, but will make the "fans” happy. 🙄

"Over 13 games, Hurts has completed 61.2% of his passes for 2,731 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He’s also proven to be a dynamic factor in the run-pass option. Hurts is the team’s leading rusher with 733 yards on 130 carries (5.6 average).

Since taking over as the starter in Week 14 of the 2020 season, Hurts ranks fourth in the NFL in total yards with 4,655. Hurts has the most explosive plays (16-plus yard completions and 10-plus yard rushes) in the NFL this season with 96.”

Hurts sucks as a QB for a team that intends to win. Trade his ass while they still can.

The Eagles were a 4 win team with the quarterback you all fawned over, meanwhile Hurts has that same 4 win team at the cusp of the playoffs. But yeah let’s go get the Goff style of quarterback you all love so much.

In the 4 team wild card race I rank the Qb's:  1. Cousins  2. Hurts  3. Garraopolo  4.  Whoever the Saints are playing.

I agree with that.

I like Hurts but him being named as a Pro Bowl alternate just goes to show that the Pro Bowl voting/selection is a joke (Wentz was also named as an alternate which is laughable!!).  There's a handful of NFC QB's that are having a much better year just based on their overall performance.

Him being chosen as an alternate (by the way McNabb got in that ways several times too) might be considered a joke, but considering how everyone says he stinks and also considering how young he is it’s kind of an accomplishment. Most of this is basically a popularity contest, and judging by the hate Jalen gets from his own fan base well he’s not that popular. I’m not surprised that fans gush over Kelce and Slay being named to the pro bowl, but in the next moment bish when another one of their players get named.

At this point Hurts should be the QB for this team moving forward. I'm not sure he is the long, long term answer but it's hard to deny what he is able to do as a weapon from the QB position. 33 total TD's and 9 INT's speaks for itself. They could do a lot worse for sure. If they build up the defense with those three first round picks and make a couple of good FA signings they are absolutely a playoff team with Hurts.

I think some people judge him as if he has been starting in this league for five years. He just started his 16th career game last week. Seeing him look so much better as a passer on Tuesday after the time off and seeing Minshew do what he did was really encouraging. Believe it or not, it is possible for a young QB to get better over time. Sure he will never be Rodgers or Brees, but there is no reason with the right development he can't become a poor man's Russell Wilson.

Yeah, I totally agree.  It is a nice accomplishment and hopefully gives him extra confidence to play well.  He's certainly not the best QB in the league but he's also certainly not the worst.  Personally, I don't understand the hate he receives from fans.  He's doing a pretty good job, overall this year.  Definitely can stink it up sometimes but he's almost like a rookie QB right now, still trying to learn how to read defenses, improve his timing/accuracy, etc...I think he has a good chance to be a very good QB as he works out his kinks.

It’s going to come down to how patient will the Eagles be with him. The more comfortable he gets in the pro game, and the more the game slows down for him the better he will become I believe, because he’s clearly a guy who works and wants to get better. So far all I hear about Hurts is an exhausting amount of "he can’t do this or he can’t do that,” but many of those comments he’s proven wrong. Seriously this kid could lead them to the playoffs, upset a team or two, and these people would still be crying for a new quarterback, because they just don’t like him.
